
First in Bahrain: Polytechnic Supply Chain Accredited
Bahrain Polytechnic has become the first educational institution in the Kingdom to receive international accreditation from the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) for its Master of Science in Supply Chain Management programme.
The globally recognised endorsement positions Bahrain Polytechnic as a regional leader in the field, reaffirming its commitment to high-quality, market-aligned education in one of the world's most critical sectors.
Rigorous Standards Met
The accreditation followed a comprehensive review by CIPS, which assessed the programme against its global standards for procurement and supply education. This included evaluation of the curriculum, quality assurance systems, faculty qualifications, student support mechanisms, and infrastructure.
Professor Ciarán Ó Catháin, CEO of Bahrain Polytechnic, said the milestone demonstrated the institution's strategic focus on equipping students with practical, globally relevant skills.
'This is a testament to our deep commitment to providing high-quality education that is directly aligned with labour market needs, not only in Bahrain but also regionally and internationally,' he said.
'This accomplishment opens up broader opportunities for our graduates and enhances the Polytechnic's capacity to support Bahrain's economic vision.'
International Recognition
CIPS Regional Director for Middle East, Africa, and Asia-Pacific, Sam Achampong, said the recognition reflected the Polytechnic's strong alignment with international benchmarks.
'This accreditation clearly demonstrates their dedication to excellence and their alignment with CIPS Global Standard,' he said.
'It's truly inspiring to see this new partner in our region committed to developing the next generation of highly skilled procurement and supply chain professionals.'
Graduate Advantage
Dr Lorraine Cowley, Head of the School of Logistics, said the endorsement would offer graduates substantial employability benefits and help fast-track their path toward becoming MCIPS-certified professionals.

Bahrain Wins First Place In Huawei ICT Global Finals
The Kingdom of Bahrain has achieved outstanding success in the global finals of the Huawei ICT Competition 2024 – 2025, with a joint team from Bahrain Polytechnic and the University of Bahrain securing first place in the Network Track of the competition held in Shenzhen, People's Republic of China. This achievement came after the Bahraini team competed against 40 teams from six global regions in the Practice Network Track, reflecting Bahrain's leadership in developing national talent in the field of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) at the international level. The competition featured participation from teams representing Iraq, Kazakhstan, Lebanon, Pakistan, Qatar, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and Uzbekistan, across multiple tracks including Network, Cloud, Computing, and Innovation. This achievement underscores the distinguished position of the Kingdom of Bahrain in the ICT sector and its commitment to nurturing and empowering national competencies to contribute to technological and innovative advancement both regionally and globally. On this occasion, Bahrain Polytechnic celebrated the outstanding achievement of its students, Mohammed AlKoofi and Sara Jawad, who were part of the Bahraini team that won first place in the Network Track of the Huawei ICT Competition 2024 – 2025 Global Finals. Professor Ciarán Ó Catháin, CEO of Bahrain Polytechnic, received the participating students and expressed his pride in their success, which reflects the high caliber of Polytechnic students and the institution's practical learning approach. Renault Kwid EV to launch by 2026
TDT | agencies Renault is gearing up to introduce the Kwid EV in India, marking its entry into the affordable electric vehicle segment. Based on the globally sold Dacia Spring EV, the Kwid EV is expected to launch by late 2026 or early 2027. Under the hood, the Kwid EV is anticipated to feature a 26.8 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, offering a WLTP-certified range of approximately 220–230 km on a single charge. Internationally, the EV comes with two motor options: a 44 bhp unit and a more powerful 64 bhp variant. Charging capabilities include a 7 kW AC charger, which can fully charge the battery in about 4 hours, and a 30 kW DC fast charger that can replenish 80% of the battery in approximately 45 minutes. The design of the Kwid EV is expected to retain the compact and urban-friendly dimensions of its petrol counterpart, with subtle EV-specific styling cues like a closed-off grille and unique alloy wheels. Inside, the cabin may feature modern amenities such as a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, and possibly vehicle-to-load (V2L) capabilities, allowing the car to power external devices.
