Video shows two vehicles overturn during Canoga Park parking lot crash
Cell phone video captured the moments that two vehicles overturned during a parking lot crash in Canoga Park on Sunday.
It happened at around 1 p.m. in the 8200 block of Topanga Canyon Boulevard in the Vallarta Supermarkets parking lot, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Officers say that three vehicles were involved in the collision, two of which overturned when one driver apparently lost control.
Footage shows as a dark-colored pickup truck slams into a parked vehicle before colliding with the side of a mini-van making a turn into one of the lanes of the lot.
Police say that there were injuries in the crash, but did not provide details on the severity.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation.

The Justice Department is suing the city of Los Angeles over its so-called 'sanctuary city' policy passed in the weeks following Donald Trump's 2024 presidential election victory that prevents city resources from going toward immigration enforcement. The city's laws, DOJ says, 'interfere with and discriminate against the Federal Government's enforcement of federal immigration law,' according to the lawsuit filed Monday. In announcing the law's passage in November, LA's City Council said the 'newly adopted ordinance permanently enshrines sanctuary policies into municipal law and prohibits the use of City resources, including property and personnel, from being utilized for immigration enforcement or to cooperate with federal immigration agents engaged in immigration enforcement.' 'Critically,' the Los Angeles release stated, 'the Ordinance also prohibits the direct and indirect sharing of data with federal immigration authorities – an important gap to close in our city's protections for immigrants.' The Justice Department says that the law prevents LA officials from assisting federal agents, sharing information and otherwise obstructing their efforts, all of which, they say, runs counter to the Constitution. 'Sanctuary policies were the driving cause of the violence, chaos, and attacks on law enforcement that Americans recently witnessed in Los Angeles,' Attorney General Pamela Bondi said in a press release announcing the lawsuit Monday. 'Jurisdictions like Los Angeles that flout federal law by prioritizing illegal aliens over American citizens are undermining law enforcement at every level – it ends under President Trump.'

Thieves ram vehicle into Sunnyvale jewelry store, evade police after stealing merchandise
A group of thieves stole merchandise from a Sunnyvale jewelry store on Sunday after ramming a vehicle into the building in the middle of the day and later evading police during a chase, authorities said. The Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety said in a press release Monday that the incident began at about 2:45 p.m. Sunday at a jewelry store on the 1000 block of East El Camino Real between Poplar and Henderson Avenues. After using a stolen vehicle to smash into the building, multiple suspects entered the store and used hammers to smash display cases, stealing an undisclosed amount of jewelry, the DPS said. The suspects then fled in several waiting vehicles, leaving the stolen vehicle behind. One person inside the store was injured during the incident and was taken to a hospital. The injuries were not life-threatening, the DPS said. During the police response, officers located one of the suspect vehicles and attempted to pull it over, but the driver fled instead with officers giving chase, the DPS said. The pursuit was later ended in the interest of public safety, according to DPS. Anyone with information about the incident was encouraged to contact Detective G. Limon at (408) 730-7110. On March 30, a group of thieves used a stolen car to ram another jewelry store in Sunnyvale, less than a mile west on El Camino Real between S. Wolfe Road and Maria Lane. In that incident, a store employee confronted the driver with a gun, and the suspects fled without stealing anything, the DPS said. On June 20, a similar attempted theft happened at a jewelry store in Dublin, with thieves using a stolen car to breach the store's security gates. Local news reports said the thieves left empty-handed because the store's owner had removed merchandise from display cases after hearing about yet another similar smash-and-grab theft from a Fremont jewelry store two days prior.

San Jose police say 14-year-old arrested in gang-motivated shooting
A 14-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in connection with a gang-motivated shooting at an East San Jose apartment complex last month, police say. According to officers, the shooting took place in a parking lot of a complex at Tosca Court and Tosca Way on the afternoon of May 14. A preliminary investigation revealed that a juvenile male suspect fired multiple rounds towards an adult male in a vehicle. Police said the rounds struck the vehicle and narrowly missed the victim's head. The victim did not sustain physical injuries. The suspect fled the scene before police arrived Detectives with the department's Gang Investigations Unit identified the suspect as a 14-year-old from San Jose that police said was a gang member. On June 15, officers with the department's Violent Crimes Enforcement Team located the suspect in San Jose. Police said the teen fled on foot and discarded a firearm. Firearm that police said was seized during a June 15, 2025 arrest of a 14-year-old suspect in a May 14, 2025 shooting in San Jose. Police said the firearm was stolen out of Reno, Nevada. San Jose Police Department Following a brief foot pursuit, the teen was arrested and taken into custody. Officers also located the firearm, which was determined to be stolen out of Reno, Nevada. The teen, whose name has not been released due to his age, was booked into Juvenile Hall on suspicion of attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, shooting into an occupied vehicle and other firearm-related offenses. Police said a search of the teen's home located various items believed to be gang related.
