9 people injured after third-floor porch collapses in Dorchester

Nine people were injured after a third-floor porch collapsed on Harwood Street in Boston's Dorchester neighborhood Friday night. Three people are in critical condition, according to the Boston Fire Department. It happened at about 10 p.m. during a large gathering at the multi-family home. Boston EMS said all of the patients transported to the hospital were adults. Their injuries ranged from minor to serious. All the victims were on the ground level when firefighters arrived. "After the initial collapse, there was a secondary collapse of the material that was on the deck," said Boston Fire Chief of Operations Rodney Marshall. "There was a refrigerator and other various materials up on the third floor that collapsed on the secondary collapse. We think that also affected the victims on the ground." Marshall said Boston police are investigating and Inspectional Services is responding to the home.

France shooting: Urgent manhunt for three gunmen after explosions and shots heard in Nimes - at least six injured with one person fighting for their life

At least one person has been left fighting for their life and five others have been injured after a shooting in France. The horror attack unfolded at around 7pm on Friday evening in Nimes, near Avignon. Six people were rushed to hospital with bullet wounds and one remains in a serious condition. An investigation for attempted murder has been launched by the French authorities, according to The Mirror. As of the early hours of Saturday morning, no arrests had been made - and it is believed that the suspects are still on the run. Witnesses reported hearing gunshots and explosions in the Pissevin district - an area in south-west Nimes which is known for drug crime. One woman told French media: 'My sister called me as I was coming home from work. 'She told me not to go home, there were shots right in front of my building. At first, we thought they were firecrackers...' French authorities said in a statement: 'A shooting took place this evening resulting in several injuries. Investigations are underway.' The country's riot police were called in to help deal with the shooting, it has been reported. The Pissevin district of Nimes has been marked by a series of tragic shootings. In August 2023, a 10-year-old child was killed by a stray bullet, and in February last year another person was killed near a drug dealing point.

Orioles dealt another injury after losing Adley Rutschman

The post Orioles dealt another injury after losing Adley Rutschman appeared first on ClutchPoints. The Baltimore Orioles have been plagued by injuries this season. The ailments have contributed to a nightmare campaign as Baltimore is 10 games below .500 and 11 games back in the AL East. And the news just keeps getting worse for the team. After All-Star catcher Adley Rutschman was scratched from the lineup Friday, the Orioles were dealt another injury blow. Advertisement Jordan Westburg left the game against the New York Yankees in the third inning with discomfort in his left hand. Today the Orioles announced Westburg is day-to-day with jammed fingers, per MASN Sports' Roch Kubatko on X. Fortunately for Baltimore, X-rays of Wesburg's banged up hand were negative. It appears as if Wesburg will avoid another stint on the injured list. However, the Orioles weren't so lucky with their star catcher as Rutschman landed on the 10-day IL with an oblique strain. Jordan Westburg is the latest Orioles player to sustain an injury Daniel Kucin Jr.-Imagn Images Rutschman is the 10th Orioles player currently on the injured list. He joins key contributors Ryan Mountcastle, Tyler O'Neill, Jorge Mateo, Grayson Rodriguez and Kyle Bradish, who've all missed significant time this season. Advertisement While Westburg appears to have dodged a bullet with his ailing fingers, he's no stranger to the injured list. In 2024 Westburg landed on the IL with a broken hand that cost him 47 games and derailed an All-Star campaign. And earlier this year, he was placed on the 10-day IL with a left hamstring strain that sidelined him for 39 games. The 26-year-old infielder came off the injured list on June 10 and played well in his return, batting .256 with a .864 OPS and three home runs in 10 games. Now he faces yet another injury-related setback. Baltimore did recently get center fielder Cedric Mullins back from an IL stint. And the Orioles believe Tyler O'Neill and Jorge Mateo are progressing, as both are expected to begin minor league rehab stints soon. O'Neill, who's been out since mid May with a shoulder ailment, actually started a rehab assignment earlier this month but needed to be shut down after experiencing a setback. But manager Tony Mansolino believes he's healthy enough to resume the recovery process and could head back to the minors next week.
