Line of Duty star breaks silence on season 7 rumours

Line of Duty star Martin Compston has added fresh fuel to the fire amid rumours that the hit BBC crime drama will return for a seventh series.
Martin, 40, played DS Steve Arnott in all six series, starring alongside Vicky McClure, 40, and Adrian Dunbar, 66, as members of the controversial taskforce Anti-Corruption Unit 12.
The show came to an end in 2021 as Steve and the team finally uncovered the identity of elusive criminal ringleader 'H.'
However, enough doors were left open that AC-12 could still return, and fans have been clamouring for a seventh season in the four years since.
And, according to reports, a six-part follow up is in the works, with Martin, Vicky and Adrian all tipped to reprise their roles.
Now Martin has weighed in, providing an update as to how work on the rumoured seventh season is progressing.

Speaking to The Sun, Martin revealed: 'We're always talking about possibilities and schedules and whatnot.'
However, he wasn't able to say much more than that, continuing: 'Everybody's got stuff going on at the minute, so I think anything, unfortunately, would be a way off.'
This comes after apparent confirmation that the trio were set to begin filming a new series of the show in January 2026, ahead of a release later that year.

A source told The Sun: 'This is the news Line of Duty fans have been waiting for since the sixth season left them deflated when it aired back in 2021.
'The BBC almost immediately requested more episodes to continue the story, but the success of the show meant Vicky, Martin and Adrian were instantly snapped up for other projects.'
The tabloid claims show creator Jed Mercurio has already written most of the storyline, which would start production later this year and potentially air towards the end of 2026.
Martin previously hinted at the show's future on an episode of Lorraine (Picture: Shutterstock)
Martin previously reassured viewers of ITV's Lorraine that a new series was at the forefront of its creator's minds, saying: 'We are all quite busy but I'm sure you will get to it at some point.'
'We don't want to get people's hopes up. I'm sure there are ideas, though.'
Meanwhile, Anna Maxwell-Martin, 47, who played DS Patricia Carmichael, offered a more cryptic update on the show's progress.
Attending the Royal Television Society Awards in March, Anna was asked by Metro.co.uk about a hypothetical seventh series, answering: 'I would be killed by a sniper over there so…'
Series five and six star Anna Maxwell-Martin also weighed in on rumours (Picture: BBC)
Meanwhile, Vicky also appeared to shut down rumours, saying back in November last year: 'It's (the rumours) hard to ignore. We all read social media and all that kind of stuff.
'But the great thing is that people love the show and we're truly grateful that people love it.'
And on a season seven update, added: 'But there is no news. That is the news, no news!'
All six series of Line of Duty are available to stream now on BBC iPlayer

Secret rift tearing Katie Price and daughter Princess apart as distraught mum says ‘I feel like Brooklyn Beckham'

The Sun can exclusively lay bare the secret rift between mother and daughter after the teenager was told to 'distance herself' from Katie THE PRICE IS WRONG Secret rift tearing Katie Price and daughter Princess apart as distraught mum says 'I feel like Brooklyn Beckham' Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) AS 18-year-old Princess Andre gears up for a debut TV series, the similarities between her and mum Katie Price are stark. Pneumatic model Katie also got her big break aged 18, with big-money deals, frenzied press speculation and reality television shows to follow. 9 9 The Sun can exclusively lay bare the heartbreaking secret rift between mum Katie Price and daughter Princess Andre Credit: Instagram 9 Telly bosses deliberately cut ex-glamour model Katie Price out of her daughter's forthcoming ITV2 show, The Princess Diaries 9 In a bid to market Princess as a pretty, middle-class influencer, they even turned down Katie's team's offer to film Credit: Getty Which makes the secret rift between mother and daughter, which we can lay bare for the first time today, all the more heartbreaking. While Katie, 47, adores her eldest daughter — who she had with first husband Peter Andre — she has been left devastated after the teenager was told to 'distance herself' from her 'low-rent' relative. Telly bosses deliberately cut the former glamour model out of forthcoming ITV2 show, The Princess Diaries, because it is 'not good for Princess to be seen with Katie'. In a bid to market the youngster as a pretty, middle-class influencer, they even turned down Katie's team's offer to film for free for three days. 'A BIT MOLLY-CODDLED' The snub, says a friend, has crushed the mum of five, with parallels, they say, to the ongoing Beckham family feud. Says one: 'Katie feels isolated and disregarded. She loves Princess so much and is supremely proud of the young woman she is becoming. But with all her expertise in the field, Kate obviously hoped to help steer her career — oversee contracts, advise her on press, that sort of thing. 'She has seen and done it all, and hoped to instil some wisdom and advice on how to handle fame. 'But ITV2 execs have made it clear they want nothing to do with her. Princess has been advised to distance herself from her outspoken mum, and is perhaps too young and shy to defy orders. 'Katie has been made to feel like a pariah when it comes to Princess's professional life. 'It's almost as though her working class roots and salt-of-the-earth attitude — one that has seen her make millions and remain a household name 25 years on — aren't good enough. Trailer for the upcoming series of The Princess Diaries starring Princess Andre 'Princess told her mum that she needed to distance herself publicly and yet chats to her all the time behind closed doors. 'She will always love her mum but there is just a personal/professional divide right now, which is tough for Kate. 'Kate is really embarrassed. She even offered to give up her own time to film for the new show but got an email back saying her services weren't required. Kate is really embarrassed. She feels a bit like Brooklyn Beckham, with no one in the Andre family really speaking to her. 'She feels a bit like Brooklyn Beckham, with no one in the Andre family really speaking to her. 'Even Kate's mum, Amy, who cherishes Princess, has been dragged into it all. She is so heartbroken about what is going on.' The Prices were banned from attending Princess's 18th birthday party in June due to filming. Katie, meanwhile, got a bucket-load of online stick after accidentally sharing a happy birthday Instagram message 36 hours before the big day. 9 The new ITV2 series will feature Princess's older brother Junior, her dad Peter and his wife Emily Credit: Rex 9 The snub, says a friend, has crushed the mum of five Credit: Getty The new ITV2 series, which will feature Princess's older brother Junior and her dad Peter, begins on Sunday. It also stars Pete's second wife Emily, a doctor with whom he appears blissfully happy. For the past few months, cameras have followed Princess around as she launches her influencing career, having already signed money- spinning deals with brands including Morphe and Superdrug. 'INCREDIBLY ALIENATED' She has more than 1.5million followers on social media and a dedicated legion of young fans. In the fly-on-the-wall series, the teenager addresses the traumatic memories of her parents' divorce, admitting she grew up in her household knowing her parents 'didn't like each other'. After bosses turned down Katie's offer to appear in the show for free, they instead asked for historic YouTube archive material to use. Furious Kate's team staunchly refused. Another concern of the Price family is that Princess is being handed fame too easily. 9 Princess with Junior in new series Credit: ITV 9 Princess with mum and nan last year Credit: instagram/katieprice The friend adds: 'Katie had to graft for her celebrity, going to castings on foot and by bus, and hustling for every bit of success. In contrast, Princess is maybe being a bit molly-coddled. 'She has chauffeur-driven cars taking her to and from events, and a management team doing all the commercial deals and paperwork for her. 'Technically, Princess, who is an absolutely lovely girl and remarkably grounded given her privilege and famous parentage, is a nepo-baby. 'There would be no TV series without Katie, so Kate feels it's imperative she doesn't take fame for granted. 'In short, she would love to be there for her daughter and be allowed more of a say in her career. CHILDHOOD TRAUMA 'Personally they remain a constant in one another's lives, but professionally Kate feels incredibly alienated.' Princess is managed by her Aussie dad's management company, who previously represented Katie when the couple were together. However, when the Mysterious Girl singer and Katie, who met when they were both contestants on 2004's I'm A Celebrity, divorced in 2009 after four years of marriage, their management went with Team Andre. The couple famously had their own hit ITV2 reality show Katie & Peter from 2004. The second and final series gave a telling insight into their problems, with the couple bickering badly during filming. They split up acrimoniously not long after. Relations between Peter and his loyal managers on one side and Katie on the other have been fractious for years. Although the former couple are now on civil terms, WhatsApping about their two children, it is fair to suggest there is little love lost. It is a topic that gets explored on the new show, and Princess has been doing a round of PR interviews to promote the series. 9 David and Victoria Beckham with son Brooklyn Credit: Getty She has admitted to having therapy to help with some of her childhood trauma. In one interview she said: 'I do wish I could have had a happier childhood. 'In the sense of, like, I had so many things on my plate at a young age.' While acknowledging the 'good times' in her childhood, she opened up about her mum's bitter split from third husband Kieran Hayler when she was ten. She does, though, also speak of her love for both parents. Katie is currently dating Married At First star JJ Slater, a man who gets on well with all the family. Although publicly Princess and Katie are not allowed to be photographed together, privately, I'm told, they speak 'pretty much' every day. Certainly, the last time I visited Kate at home in East Sussex, Princess was there alongside big brother Junior and his girlfriend, as well as the duo's older half-brother, Harvey. With three dogs, five bald Sphynx cats, including a pregnant one, a baby (Kate's niece Olive), two cameramen, Harvey, Kate's podcast partner, a cleaner, Junior and Princess and one of their mates, a photographer, and JJ, it was absolute chaos. But happy chaos. I chatted to Princess over chicken Caesar baguettes and golden syrup cookies and she was an utter delight — charming, polite and endearingly shy. We discussed fame and the pressures within it, and she seemed excited yet level-headed about whatever is to follow. She and her mum cracked jokes and chatted freely. Their bond was clear to see. Princess is a credit to both her parents. If only, then, she was able to be as proud of her mum as her mum is of her. The Princess Diaries begins on Sunday at 9pm on ITV2.

Bob Vylan Glastonbury set sparks antisemitism surge as hate incidents hit six-month high the following day

Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) ANTISEMITIC incidents hit a six-month high a day after punk duo Bob Vylan's controversial Glastonbury gig. A total of 26 were reported after rapper Bobby Vylan chanted 'Death, death to the IDF (Israel Defence Forces)' during the set. Police say inquiries are continuing in relation to the comments at the gig, which the BBC chose to livestream. The CST said the next worst day so far this year was May 17 — a day after Israel said it was expanding military operations in Gaza — when 19 incidents were recorded. A spokesman said: 'Both of these cases illustrate how sentiment and rhetoric towards Israel and Zionism influence, shape and drive contemporary anti-Jewish discourse, online and offline, often around totemic events that grab mainstream public attention.' Over the six months, there were 76 violent anti-Jewish assaults, three rated as 'extreme', the charity said. There were 84 incidents of damage and desecration of Jewish property, 21 of mass-produced antisemitic literature and 1,236 of verbal or written abuse. The six-month January to June total was 1,521, down on the 2,019 in the same period for 2024. CST chief executive Mark Gardner said the figures demonstrate 'extreme levels of Jew-hatred, committed in the name of anti-Israel activism'. Home Secretary Yvette Cooper called the numbers 'shamefully and persistently high'. She said antisemitism 'has a profoundly damaging impact on the individuals affected and the wider Jewish community' and said the Government was determined to 'root out the poison'.

Liam Gallagher makes controversial drug reference as he plays up to the cameras after being caught on film entering a portaloo backstage at Oasis reunion show

Liam Gallagher made sure to play up to the cameras as he was spotted heading into a portaloo toilet backstage at a recent Oasis reunion show at Wembley stadium. The musician, 52, was caught on camera by a sneaky fan as he headed inside, but catching the lens the star made it known he had been seen as he mimed a drug reference. Pointing inside the cubicle he then alluded to taking cocaine before he headed inside. Reposting the video the fan wrote: 'Liam Gallagher knew he was being watched heading into the backstage toilets and of course he does this'. At the height of the band's Britpop career Liam was known for his party lifestyle fuelled by of drinking and drug taking. However the star has left his wild antics behind and now priorities his well being with his 'health trip' seeing him cutting back on booze and stop drug taking. He previously told The Sun: 'You've got to undo all the bad work you've done through f***ing getting off your head and all that. 'It's time to undo it all now and get back to reality. All that stuff that you thought was cool in the early days . . . it's time to get healthy.' 'As you get older, life is precious, do you know what I mean? I'm a pretty happy-go-lucky guy. I love waking up early in the morning.' Meanwhile it was also revealed Liam has been drinking apple cider vinegar on the Oasis tour after vowing to ditch the booze. Before the reunion gigs kicked off, Liam vowed to cut alcohol out his diet to keep his voice in check for the stage. After years of drinking heavily on tour in the nineties, Liam prefers a glass of the soft drink. Liam has previously spoke about his love for apple cider vinegar and honey and how it helps his voice. He said: 'I drink a lot of funky drinks. I have this apple cider vinegar, the one that everyone bangs on about. 'So I have vinegar, some honey and then I have some turmeric, some cayenne pepper, a squirt of lemon, hot water, stir it round and drink it. 'It's really good for when you get a hoarse voice. I've got a thyroid problem – Hashimoto's disease – so I can get a really hoarse voice.' In 2023 Liam revealed that he needed the joints replacing in his hip due to arthritis as a result of a longstanding thyroid problem. He then underwent a major hip operation. Before that in 2017 he was diagnosed with Hashimoto's disease, an autoimmune condition of the thyroid gland. In addition he also suffers with the skin condition psoriasis. Speaking about his hip issues in 2023 he said: 'My hips are f***ed, I've got arthritis, bad. 'I went to get it checked out and my bones are mashed up. The lady was going, 'Oh, you might need a hip operation, a replacement.'' He said at the time he didn't want the operation because of the 'stigma'. 'I think I'd rather just be in pain. Which is ridiculous, obviously. I know that. Just get them fixed. But it's the stigma, saying you've had your hips replaced. What's next?' Taking to social media he penned: 'Morning Rastas so I had my Hip operation last wk all went well and RESPEK to all the doctors n nurses who looked after me Big shout out to the A team for getting us home safe n sound' He told MoJo magazine: 'When the weather's cold, my hips are like snap, crackle and pop. I need warmth. 'I can't sleep at night for the pain. Tossing and turning. So I'm on herbal sleeping tablets and they've saved my life. One of them, seven hours out, no pain, nothing. 'My new thing is Deep Heat. Caked myself in it on the knees and hips, the calves, then into the steam room for as long as I can handle it.' Liam, a keen jogger, was told by doctors to run less to help manage the condition. In the interview he also spoke about his psoriasis, saying he once met a fan who thought he had cocaine in his hair - but it was actually bits of skin from his itchy scalp. He said: 'I've got psoriasis, so I had obviously been scratching it during the day and there were little white bits and s**t. They were taking it out of my hair and putting it on their gums and putting it up their f***ing nose!' Taking to Twitter last February he said of having his hip operation: 'Morning Rastas so I had my Hip operation last wk [week] all went well and RESPEK [respect] to all the doctors n nurses who looked after me Big shout out to the A team for getting us home safe n sound. 'You know who you are and Florence guru I love and adore you Riverdance here I come LG x'.
