Footage released by North Yorkshire Police shows Stephen Carr, 57, walking through his kitchen with the weapon, with a later clip showing him taking a knife out from a drawer, which he then proceeded to stab his wife Lorna in the back with.
Another clip shows police officers arriving at the property in Strensall, near York, as Carr sat in his garden shed as they arrested him.
Carr, who was found guilty of attempted murder after a trial, was jailed for 17 years on Wednesday (2 July) and told he would serve an additional three years on licence following his release.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) — A Shiprock, New Mexico man is facing a second-degree murder charge for allegedly breaking into a home and stabbing a man. According to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of New Mexico, Armondo Paul, 25, faces up to life in prison if he is convicted of the charge. Rio Rancho Police investigate body found on Northern Boulevard Court documents show on Friday, June 27, Paul was arrested after Navajo Nation Police Department officers responded to a stabbing at a Shiprock home. The victim was found dead with a wound to their neck. Investigation revealed Paul went to a home after midnight and turned off the power. After a young woman and her father left the home to see what happened, Paul forced his way into the residence with a knife. There was a brief struggle and Paul stabbed the man, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office. He fled the scene and was arrested later that day. Paul is an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation. He remains in custody pending trial, which has yet to be scheduled. The Farmington Resident Agency of the Federal Bureau of Investigation's Albuquerque Field Office investigated this case with help from the Navajo Nation Police Department and Department of Criminal Investigations. Savannah Police respond to shooting on Bradley Boulevard; victim transported to Memorial
Savannah Police responded to a shooting on the 1300 block of Bradley Boulevard Friday evening, according to a social media post by SPD. An adult male victim who sustained multiple gunshot wounds has been transported to Memorial Health University Medical Center. The severity of the injuries is unknown at this time, said SPD Public Information Officer Stephanie Selander. The July 4 shooting marks the third SPD has responded to in the span of three days. The high-profile Oglethorpe Mall shooting occurred early Wednesday evening, then SPD responded to another shooting on the 900 block of East Waldburg later that night.
