
First phase of PDP: PC-1 submission begins, 21 cities prioritised
This was disclosed during a meeting chaired by Punjab Local Government Minister Zeeshan Rafiq on Friday. Special Secretary Arshad Baig and Additional Secretary Ahmer Kaifi attended the meeting while Syed Zahid Aziz, Managing Director of Punjab Municipal Development Fund Company (PMDFC), was also present.
While addressing the meeting, the Minister said that PC-1s of five cities including Gujrat, Daska, Layyah, Attock and Nankana Sahib, have been submitted, while PC-1s of Khanewal and Wazirabad cities are in the final stages. He further said that PC-1s of development works in 14 more cities will be submitted during July; these cities include Kamoke, Vehari, Muridke, Toba Tek Singh, Khushab, Bahawalnagar, Bhakkar, Burewala, Gojra, Jaranwala, Kamalia, Kot Addu, Lodhran and Sheikhupura.
He noted that PDP is a unique and comprehensive project of this government which includes schemes of sewerage, rainwater drainage, and paving of streets. 'In addition, there will be work on building rainwater storage tanks and rehabilitating parks,' he added.
He also said that every small and big city will be brought under the purview of the PDP in a phased manner. 'The PMDFC and PMU will monitor the projects while the steering committee at the provincial level monitors all the issues,' he added.
He urged the officials present in the meeting to implement the instructions issued by the steering committee, adding that the money saved from any scheme would be invested in another city.

Target of 50k home loans achieved: CM
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has said that issuance of home loans under the Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar progamme without any political influence or recommendation is an unprecedented step in the province's governance. She was commenting on the achievement of the target of disbursing loans for more than 50,000 houses by June 2025 under the low-cost housing initiative, According to official figures, 51,911 home construction loans have been issued so far, amounting to Rs57.9 billion disbursed under the project. The initiative has already led to the completion of 5,293 houses, now occupied by families, while 41,324 homes are currently under construction across the province. The citizens have been able to apply for home loans online. CM Maryam Nawaz said, "The Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar project is designed to create genuine ease and empowerment for the people." She added that every eligible applicant, regardless of political affiliation, is receiving support under the programme. "We have not only made history, we intend to break our own records," she added. The CM credited the success of the initiative to the vision of PML-N Quaid Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.

Rs57.9bn easy loans disbursed ‘Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar' programme moving towards completion
LAHORE: As per vision of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the 'Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar' project is swiftly moving towards successful completion and an important milestone has been achieved in the history of Punjab. According to the announcement of CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the target of attaining more than 50,000 houses has been achieved in June under this project. For the first time in the history of Punjab, a national record of constructing more than 50,000 houses in a span of few months has been set. By June 2025, more than 51,911 loans have been issued for building houses under the 'Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar' project. Under this project, easy loans worth Rs 57.9 billion have been given in a short period of time. Under this project, the construction of 5,293 houses has been completed which have been inhabited by the residents, while the construction process of 41,324 houses is underway rapidly. The residents have termed the 'Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar' project as a great blessing. For the first time, applicants have been given the unique facility of applying for loans online from their homes under the 'Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar' project. Loans are being issued without visiting offices for the above said project. The Chief Minister said, 'Issuing loans for building houses without any recommendation is an exemplary precedent in the history of Punjab and Pakistan. The aim behind launching 'Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar' project is to create ease and convenience for the people.' She affirmed, 'Every applicant under the 'Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar' project is getting loans regardless of any political affiliation. We have set a unique record in the history of building houses for the people; we will break our own records as well.' She highlighted, 'Quaid PML-N Muhammad Nawaz Sharif's vision of rendering public service has become a reality in the 'Apni Chhat, Apni Ghar' project.
