On today's Days of Our Lives recap:
Kiriakis Mansion: Maggie updates Holly on young Douglas. She's thrilled but needs to meet Tate at the pub. She says he is disappointed to not have met his baby girl. Sarah enters and adds her two cents and asks why Sophia was in Chicago. Holly explains about the adoptive parents and Sarah is clearly troubled by what she knows.
Holly exits and Maggie asks about Victoria. She says they worked out a shared custody agreement which means her daughter will be home soon. Sarah is clearly upset when she says she and Xander agreed to legally separate. Maggie asks how she feels about everything. Sarah is trying to make peace with the decision and she, unconvincingly, says part of her feels free.
Brady Pub: Tate sends Sophia text asking if she has heard from the adoptive parents and wants more pictures.
Holly arrives and Tate says he's thrilled young Douglas exited Salem. Tate indicates the police think he will get back his savings and Holly thanks him for all he did to rescue her and Arianna Grace. She thinks she doesn't deserve his kindness as she's the reason he didn't get to see his baby. Tate wouldn't change the decisions he made for anything.
Choi Central: Sophia gets Tate's text but does not reply. She wants him to let it go.
Mama Choi enters and angrily asks why she's still in bed. She is furious her daughter went to Chicago and gave her baby away to perfect strangers. She goes on about not meeting her first grandchild and how Tate must be beside himself. Sophia wonders if her mother cares at all about all she's been through. Sophia says it's her life and she gets to decide how it goes. Mama Choi takes a seat on the bed and apologizes to her daughter. She says her heart is aching knowing Sophia's is broken.
Mama Choi worries about Sophia isolating herself but she says she will be fine. Her mother notes Sophia's fever and exhaustion. MC demands her daughter get and won't take no for an answer.
Horton Square: Chanel and Paulina are enjoying lunch and discussing Johnny's trial. Paulina worries Johnny's innocence will come at Chanel's expense. As they get heated, Johnny arrives. He gives her the grizzly details of his first day in court. Chanel suggests they go to the pub, but Paulina wants to hang back since she is first up to testify the next day.
Courtroom: Johnny is annoyed EJ went after his grandfather. EJ says he has to create reasonable doubt to get him off. He asks his son to trust him and Johnny agrees. With that, he exits to go see Chanel.
Belle approaches and says EJ did good work today. EJ goes OFF on Belle about her opening statement focusing on premeditation and intent. Belle says they are both doing their jobs. He can't believe she could be so cruel to a family member. Belle reminds him that she tried to recuse herself, but EJ had to go and bend the judge to his will. She grabs her purse to leave when EJ calls out for 'Isabella' and apologizes for his harsh words. He didn't mean to trash her family loyalty so soon after John's passing. EJ says she can lean on him but Belle can't until after the trial.
Brady Pub: Tate tells Holly all would have gone as planned with the baby if Johnny hadn't backed out of the original adoption. Just then, Johnny and Chanel walk in. They chat about the trial and Tate is nicer to Johnny than expected. He asks about the baby and Chanel winces when Tate says she was already placed with the adoptive parents. They also chat about Holly's kidnapping leading Chanel to note Dateline should do an expose on Salem (Truth!). With that, Chanel and Johnny grab a table.
Chanel sees the pain in Tate's eyes. Johnny does too and is surprised he was forgiven by either on of him. Chanel reminds her husband of the love they share and how she will support him until he is in the clear.
Horton Square: Belle arrives to chat with Paulina and wants to step down as DA. She says prosecuting her nephew while also dealing with EJ is more than she can take. Paulina says she will deal with EJ. She says one day his schemes are going to blow up in his face.
DiMera Mansion – Living Room: EJ pours a drink when Susan arrives. She calls him by his government name as she has a bone to pick with her. Susan thinks he's back to his wicked ways but EJ says that's not the case. She goes on a tirade about Johnny saying there's no way neither he nor his sweet wife put a bullet in her son. EJ says if casting a light on Chanel frees Johnny it's worth it. Susan knows something and says whatever he's done to make Johnny look innocent will come back to bite him.
University Hospital – Exam Room: Sophia apologizes to Sarah for wasting her time as she knows there is nothing wrong. That being said, her uterus is contracted more than someone who gave birth a few days prior. Sarah leans in and asks about her delivering a baby girl when she knows from the ultrasound the baby was a boy.
Sarah tells Sophia she's in a safe space. Sophia lashes out saying she knows her rights and that her medical records are confidential (HAHAHAHAHAHA, that's funny). Sarah asks if her baby is safe.
Brady Pub: Tate worries he hasn't heard from Sophia and thinks she's avoiding him. He is a wee irritated Sophia kept him fully out of the loop. Holly gets it but also sides with Sophia saying he should simply give her time.

Surprise MCU Character Return Confirmed For 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day'

The Marvel Cinematic Universe consists of numerous recurring characters, though sometimes it may take years for their appearances or setups to pay off, as we've recently seen with the long-awaited return of The Leader in Captain America: Brave New World . Similarly, it looks like another long-awaited MCU character return has finally been confirmed for Spider-Man: Brand New Day . The new Spider-Man movie will be the fourth entry in the MCU's Spider-Man series, also consisting of Spider-Man: Homecoming , Spider-Man: Far From Home , and Spider-Man: No Way Home . The fourth entry, as its very different title suggests, will take a very different direction from those previous installments. It's aiming to tell a lower-scale street-level story, one that will require an appearance from Jon Bernthal's Punisher. Additionally, as shared via THR, it appears another MCU character is confirmed to be joining the mix for the next Spider-Man movie. This one, however, is actually a character that previously appeared in the film series – only for a quick introduction that never seemed to pay off. Until now, that is. It looks like Michael Mando will be reprising his role from the 2017 franchise starter Spider-Man Homecoming , in which he briefly played fan-favorite comic book villain Scorpion. While it seemed likely at the time that Scorpion would appear in a sequel, those plans never seemed to come to fruition with the introduction of larger-scale narratives as we saw in Far From Home and No Way Home . Now, however, it looks like Michael Mando's Scorpion will find himself at the center of Spider-Man: Brand New Day . Additionally, the outlet confirms the return of another fan-favorite MCU character, though this is one role that has fortunately been given plenty of appearances over the years. This time, however, we'll get to see him alongside Tom Holland's Peter Parker and Jon Bernthal's Punisher. Mark Ruffalo's Bruce Banner aka Hulk is confirmed to be appearing in Spider-Man: Brand New Day . It's unknown how he'll fit into the story, especially alongside the likes of The Punisher and Scorpion, but the new film is definitely shaping up to be a very different kind of Spider-Ma n story. One that might be one of the closest yet to the classic comics. Spider-Man: Brand New Day is scheduled to hit theaters on July 31, 2026. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional MCU updates as we have them.
