Prashant Advait Foundation honoured with
Greater Noida (Uttar Pradesh) [India], June 8 (ANI): The Prashant Advait Foundation received the 'Best Animal Welfare Organisation' Award in recognition of its work saving over a million animals and fostering compassion through spiritual clarity.
The Green Society of India presented the award to the Foundation at the World Environment Expo 2025 held at India Expo Mart in Greater Noida.
The award honours the Foundation's unmatched work in 2024 in promoting compassionate living and directly saving the lives of more than a million animals via awareness campaigns.
Pradeep Vaghasiya (COO) and Devesh Mittal (CTO) accepted the award on behalf of the Foundation.
'This award is not just for the Foundation; it belongs to every individual who chose compassion over consumption,' Devesh Mittal said during the ceremony.
The foundation actively works to protect animals from cruelty and exploitation and highlights the teachings of Vedanta.
'Our goal is to create a society that views animal welfare as the most basic manifestation of human responsibility and intelligence, not as charity. With the help of Acharya Prashant and the teachings of Vedanta, we're helping people see that animal cruelty is not just an external issue, it's a reflection of inner ignorance,' he added.
Pradeep Vaghasiya further continued. 'When inner clarity dawns, true welfare begins.'
In 2024, the Foundation's efforts helped over 50,000 families move away from animal-based products. The Foundation also played a major role in reducing animal sacrifices at the Gadhimai Festival, the world's largest animal sacrifice event.
In contrast to traditional welfare organisations, the Foundation's strategy is based on spiritual awakening. It answers cruelty through raising human consciousness.
Rooted in Vedanta, the Foundation's goal is to inspire individuals to bring about an internal revolution. Through awareness campaigns and extensive public outreach, it seeks to establish a sustainable future for all living things.
As the world celebrates another World Environment Day, the recognition of PrashantAdvait Foundation reminds us that lasting change comes not from external policies alone but from a change of heart and mind. (ANI)

PM Modi stated that the production process of Eri Silk does not involve killing silkworms, making it an ethical and eco-friendly alternative in the global textile market. That is the reason the Meghalaya silk is also called 'Ahimsa Silk'. 'Eri Silk from Meghalaya was recently awarded a GI tag... The tribes of Meghalaya, especially the Khasi community, have preserved it for generations and enriched it with their skills... The silkworms that produce this are not killed, which is why it is known as 'Ahimsa Silk,'' PM Modi said during his Man Ki Baat. Emphasising its environmental appeal, the Prime Minister said that Eri Silk presents an opportunity because of its characteristics. 'It is a perfect product for the global market since there is an increased demand for products that don't harm the environment,' he added. PM Modi also highlighted the functional benefits of the fabric, noting that Eri Silk keeps the wearer warm in winter and cool in summer, a unique property that makes it suitable for all climates. 'This silk keeps you warm during winters and cool during summers,' he added. Further praising the role of local communities, he said, 'Women of Meghalaya are taking this to a larger scale via self-help groups,' showcasing how grassroots efforts are empowering women and expanding the reach of indigenous products. Eri Silk is renowned as the world's only vegan silk, where, unlike other silks, the moth inside the cocoon is not killed. Instead, the moth naturally exits the cocoon, leaving it behind for us to use. This ethical and eco-friendly process sets Eri Silk apart, making it a symbol of compassion and sustainability in the textile industry. Last year, the North Eastern Handicrafts and Handlooms Development Corporation (NEHHDC), under the Ministry of Development of the North Eastern Region (DoNER), Government of India, obtained the prestigious Oeko-Tex certification for its Eri Silk directly from Germany on the nation's 78th Independence Day. This remarkable accomplishment not only elevates the region's traditional craftsmanship but also positions Eri Silk as a globally recognised, sustainable textile. This achievement further solidifies the silk's status as a Geographical Indication (GI) product of Assam, underscoring its authenticity and regional significance. This certification marks a pivotal step in bringing Eri Silk closer to penetrating the global export market, expanding its reach, and establishing a strong international presence. 1 lakh neem trees in district: Ernakulam's two-year greening mission reaches milestone
KOCHI: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Saturday planted the 1,00,000th neem (aryaveppu) sapling on the campus of Rajagiri High School, Kalamassery, marking the culmination of a massive two-year-long tree-planting drive across Ernakulam district. The environmental campaign was launched on June 5, 2023 — World Environment Day — when Industries Minister P Rajeeve planted the first sapling, with the mission to plant 1 lakh neem saplings across the district. Spearheaded by Sriman Narayanan's 'Ente Gramam Gandhi Jeevitham Mission', based in Muppathadam, the initiative has now reached its green milestone. The final phase of the campaign saw the planting of the remaining 12,000 saplings in the past few weeks in various parts of the district, ensuring the target was met before the next Environment Day cycle. 'Ernakulam is one of the districts worst hit by air, water, and soil pollution. Neem, with its remarkable purifying and medicinal qualities, is an ideal choice to fight this environmental degradation,' said Sriman Narayanan, who leads the mission. Known for its immunity-boosting and pest-repelling properties, neem tree is also believed to have benefits in post-Covid health management. The organisers focused on densely populated urban colonies, where both human and ecological health need urgent attention. The saplings were sourced from nurseries in Tamil Nadu.

Chennai Airport conducts mock drill to test emergency response
Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India], June 28 (ANI): The Airports Authority of India (AAI) conducted a mock drill at Chennai International Airport on Saturday to assess emergency preparedness for a potential plane crash. The exercise followed the recent Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad. 'This mock exercise drill is a standard practice that airports undertake as part of their Airport Emergency Plan. Usually, we do it at the airport. This is the first time we are doing it outside, as we wanted to assess the preparedness of state authorities following what happened in Ahmedabad,' Airport Director of Airports Authority of India, Chennai International Airport, CV Deepak, told ANI. 'We will now hear from independent observers and fill the gaps accordingly... Approximately 300 people participated. Around 55 people participated as passengers onboard the aircraft,' he added. On June 12, a London-bound Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner crashed into a hostel complex of BJ Medical College in the Meghani Nagar area of Gujarat's Ahmedabad shortly after takeoff from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport. All 241 people on board, except one, were killed in the crash. The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) Lab in New Delhi is currently working intensively to examine data retrieved from the black boxes of the flight. According to the Ministry of Civil Aviation, the Crash Protection Module (CPM) from the front black box was safely retrieved, and on June 25, 2025, the memory module was successfully accessed and its data downloaded at the AAIB Lab. Sources familiar with the process told ANI that an identical black box, referred to as a 'golden chassis,' was used to confirm whether data could be accurately recovered from the black boxes. One black box was recovered from the rooftop of a building at the crash site on June 13, and the other from the debris on June 16. The investigation is being led by AAIB officials and includes technical members from the Indian Air Force, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) from the United States, which is the official investigative agency of the country of the aircraft's design and manufacture. The Director General of AAIB is heading the probe. An aviation medicine expert and an Air Traffic Control officer have also been included in the investigation team. Sources confirmed that the NTSB team is currently stationed in Delhi and working closely with Indian authorities at the AAIB Lab. Officials from Boeing and GE are also present in the national capital to assist with the technical process. (ANI)
