Rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine pleads guilty to a drug possession charge
The 29-year-old performer, whose real name is Daniel Hernandez, told a Manhattan federal judge that his home in Miami was raided on March 12 and that 'residual' cocaine and MDMA — the party drug known as Molly or ecstasy — were found in his bedroom cabinet.
In exchange for his guilty plea, prosecutors agreed to drop two other counts he faced stemming from the incident.
The Brooklyn rapper, who shot to fame with the 2017 release of his song 'Gummo,' will be sentenced Sept. 25.
He doesn't face any state charges related to the raid, but U.S. District Judge Paul Engelmayer warned him that the 'consequences will be severe' if he violates any of the conditions of his release before he is sentenced.
Federal sentencing guidelines call for between three and nine months in prison for each count, but Hernandez could face up to five years in prison and a lifetime of supervised release, the judge added.
The rapper, who was dressed in a black hoodie and who wasn't sporting his trademark colorful hairstyle, declined to comment as he left the courthouse.

Hernandez pleaded guilty in 2018 to his involvement with a violent New York-based gang, the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods.
He was handed a lenient sentence of two years in prison in 2019 followed by five years of supervised release for his cooperation in the prosecution of other gang members.
He was even released from federal prison several months early during the height of COVID-19 pandemic.
But last November, Hernandez was found in violation of his probation for failing to show up for drug tests, traveling to Las Vegas from his Florida home without permission and lying to his probation officer.
At the time, Engelmayer sentenced him to another 45 days in federal custody, saying the infractions showed a lack of respect for the law.

The Fire Department of New York said emergency crews were called to the Park Avenue office building Monday evening for a report of someone shot. A spokesperson said the call came in around 6:30 p.m. but provided no other details. Police provided no additional information. Local TV footage showed lines of people evacuating the office building with their hands above their heads. The building includes offices of Blackstone, Deutsche Bank, JP Morgan and consulate general of Ireland. FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino said in a social media post that agents and other bureau personnel were responding to provide support to what he said was an 'active crime scene.' Mayor Eric Adams posted on social media that there was an 'active shooter investigation' in midtown. He urged people to stay indoors and take safety precautions if they're in the area. She spent her whole summer in jail while this accused gets to enjoy his summer before even making his first court appearance. After her conviction, the Crown recently asked a judge to impose a seven-year sentence on Lich. She was not accused of violence but had the book thrown at her. What happened along King West Saturday was extremely violent and potentially lethal. However, a feather was used to deal with this accused. Toronto is fortunate there weren't many funerals here. That person was Mrunmay Ukey, 27, of Toronto, who 'was arrested and charged with fail to stop for police' and 'dangerous operation' of a motor vehicle and is 'scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of justice, 10 Armoury St., on Friday, September 19, 2025, at 11 a.m., in room 203.' None of the allegations against him have been tested in court. Dangerous is the right word to describe this scene. To walk away from the scene without even being held for a minute in a jail cell is a headscratcher – especially when you consider the Ontario justice system jailed Lich for 49 days before granting bail with strict conditions. 'Our members were responding to a call for a person with a gun when the driver of the car drove in an absolutely ridiculous manner with total disregard for everyone's safety.' 'Bottom-line if a police officer gives you direction, in a dynamic situation like that, comply with the direction. Period,' said Campbell. But if you don't comply and try to get away with no apparent care who gets in the way as police allege, there should be time sitting in a jail cell and a bail hearing. I would take this more seriously than it has been taken by those who tie police's hands. There's no SIU probe for this guy like there sure would be if one of those cops squeezed the trigger. This suspect is being treated as if we don't want to inconvenience his night of partying. What should happen is zero tolerance, with the same intensity this country went after a harmless Christian pastor for singing the gospel. But Canada seems to like those who are accused of endangering the public's safety better than the citizens they allegedly could have harmed or almost killed.
