Wicked star Jeff Goldblum reveals that once celebrity he was 'very starstruck' by
The 72-year-old actor has worked with A-listers such as Julia Roberts, Matthew Broderick and Ariana Grande over the course of his decades-long career in film, but admitted that he was very taken aback when he got to see the Ticket to Paradise star backstage at his Broadway show Good Night, and Good Luck alongside Beatles legend Sir Paul McCartney.
Speaking on Late Night with Seth Meyers, he said: "I was very excited. After the play, I was looking and [McCartney and I] both got a chance to go backstage and meet George and the cast.
"I saw him in the flesh for the first time ever, and there he was.
"I just thought 'My golly, I'm very starstruck,' because he means a lot to me."
The Wicked actor described George as being "very nice" to him and couldn't help but "brag" in revealing that it was the former ER star who asked him for a picture, as opposed to the other way round.
"He was very nice.This is bragging, I shouldn't do it.
"But he said, 'Jeff, Jeff Goldblum. I love Jeff Goldblum. Come here, Jeff, let's take a picture,' and all that stuff.
"It made my life and my year."
Meanwhile, Jeff was full of praise for the Beatles and recounted discovering the rock band - which also consisted of John Lennon, Ringo Starr, and George Harrison - in his early teen years.
He added: "Everybody, you've all got stories like this."
"But I was a kid when I Want to Hold Your Hand and 'She Loves You, came out.
"And I remember Suzy Connolly ... in her cut-off jean shorts, and I was like 12, 13...
"And they went, 'Here, come and listen to this song.' It's all mixed in my nostalgic bosom in a way that's very, very exciting and meaningful."

Shortly after she attended the show, Lin-Manuel Miranda tweeted and deleted a message about a famous audience member who had been on their phone — and many believe it was aimed at Madonna. Jonathan Groff also spoke out about the incident, alleging that Madonna had been on her phone throughout the performance. "You couldn't miss it from the stage,' Groff said in a 2015 interview. ‘The Gospel at Colonus' Review: Singing Hallelujah on the Hudson
Back at the start of this century, Tom Stoppard raised some eyebrows with the copious program notes theatergoers received at his brainy Broadway play 'The Invention of Love.' The Times review advised reading them, as context for understanding the performance, 'before the curtain goes up.' Audience members traipsing onto Little Island in Manhattan for the handsome revival of Lee Breuer and Bob Telson's 'The Gospel at Colonus' don't get anything of the kind, but it would have been a help. An aurally sumptuous quasi-Passion play that sings hallelujah to the heavens in the island's open-air amphitheater, the show retells an ancient Greek drama through the prism of a Black Pentecostal church service. 'Welcome, brothers and sisters,' the Preacher (Stephanie Berry) says at the beginning, with the Hudson River glinting as a backdrop in lieu of an upstage wall. 'I take as my text this evening the Book of Oedipus.' It is a clever line. But while a pastor might be able to presume a congregation's familiarity with a book of the Bible, it is riskier to count on a crowd knowing Sophocles' drama 'Oedipus at Colonus.' Breuer, the great downtown experimentalist who died in 2021, was all about risk. Still, let's recap, shall we? In 'Oedipus at Colonus,' Oedipus is old, infamous and exiled from Thebes, where he once was king. His life has been a litany of scandals, which you might recall from another of Sophocles' Theban tragedies, 'Oedipus Rex': Abandoned as an infant, he did not know his parents, so when he later killed his father in a fight, he didn't realize who it was, and when he married his mother and had children with her, he likewise had no idea. After learning the truth, he gouged his eyes out. Now, in his wanderings, his beloved daughter Antigone is his indispensable guide. Watch: Washington woman breaks record with 4,060 jigsaw puzzles
July 14 (UPI) -- A Washington woman earned a Guinness World Record for her collection of 4,060 different jigsaw puzzles. Liza Fireman, 46, of Bellevue, told Guinness World Records she started collecting puzzles in 2019, and she has since accumulated thousands of designs, mostly from her favorite manufacturer, Ravensburger. "I didn't set out to break the world record, I just fell in love with puzzling," Fireman said. "But not just any puzzles -- Ravensburger puzzles. I love their quality, their design, the history of puzzles. It just became a passion." Fireman's 4,060-strong collection was enough to take the Guinness World Record for the largest collection of jigsaw puzzles from John Walczak, whose collection was tallied at 2,022 in 2023. Her collection includes numerous Disney puzzles, as well as puzzles based the TV series Friends, the James Bond film franchise, Hello Kitty and the movie Wicked. "If I kept all of the puzzles I did in a year, I could easily carpet my house with puzzles," she said.
