Tigers hit 3 homers in a six-run fifth inning and rout the Diamondbacks 12-2
Greene had three hits, scored three times and drove in three runs. Wenceel Pérez had three hits, stole two bases and scored four times.
The Tigers have won three straight after losing 12 of 13. Arizona has lost six of seven.
The game was tied at 2 before the Tigers scored nine runs in the fifth and sixth innings.
After Brandon Pfaadt (10-7) retired the leadoff hitter in the fifth, Gleyber Torres put the Tigers ahead 3-2 with a homer to right. Kerry Carpenter singled and Greene hit his 26th homer to make it 5-2.
Spencer Torkelson singled, Pérez hit into an out at second and Zach McKinstry gave the Tigers a five-run lead with his ninth homer.
Andy Ibáñez added an RBI single off reliever Brandyn Garcia later in the inning. Detroit scored three more runs in the sixth, including doubles by Carpenter and Greene and a triple for Pérez.
Pérez needed a home run in the eighth inning for the cycle, but Arizona catcher Jose Herrera got him to ground into a force at second.
Arizona took a 1-0 lead before Tigers starter Casey Mize recorded an out. Corbin Carroll led off with a triple into the right-field corner and Ketel Marte followed with a single to right.
Geraldo Perdomo's bases-loaded sacrifice fly made it 2-0 in the second, but Dillon Dingler tied the game with a two-run single in the fourth.
Arizona 3B Eugenio Suarez missed the game after being hit on the right hand by a pitch on Monday. Tests didn't show any fractures, and he is being listed as day-to-day.

After Marte's RBI single in the first, the Diamondbacks loaded the bases with one out. Mize, though, struck out Jake McCarthy before retiring Alek Thomas to limit the damage to one run.

Former Clemson football standout finds new home in NFL
A former Clemson football standout and two-time national champion has found a new home in the NFL. Safety K'Von Wallace, a member of the Tigers' 2016 and 2018 national championship teams, signed with the New York Giants Tuesday, the club announced. The Giants are Wallace's fifth NFL team since he was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in the fourth round (127th overall) of the 2020 NFL Draft. Wallace spent three seasons with the Eagles and played in all 17 games in 2022 before the club released him. He spent 2023 between the Arizona Cardinals and Tennessee Titans, a season in which he started 12 of 17 games and had an interception, six pass breakups, and one tackle for loss. Wallace spent last season with the Seattle Seahawks and played in nine games, making 15 tackles (nine solo) with one forced fumble before being placed on injured reserve. With the Giants, Wallace will reunite with former Tigers defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence, who played at Clemson from 2016-18 and was selected by New York in the first round (17th overall) of the 2019 NFL Draft. While at Clemson from 2016-19, Wallace played in 59 games for Dabo Swinney's Tigers and made 36 starts. He ended his college career with 156 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, two forced fumbles, 21 pass breakups, and five interceptions. Wallace had a 66-yard interception return for a touchdown in Clemson's 52-10 win over Charlotte on Sept. 21, 2019. The Tigers started 14-0 that season before falling to LSU in the CFP title game. LSU football is hoping for a breakthrough in Brian Kelly's fourth year leading the program. In three years with the Tigers, Kelly has led LSU to an SEC West title and two 10-win seasons. But the Tigers are looking to take that next step into the College Football Playoff. Kelly knows the stakes are high. After landing the No. 1-ranked transfer class in the country and returning quarterback Garrett Nussmeier, reaching the playoff -- and maybe more -- is the expectation. If LSU doesn't compete for an SEC title and make the field of 12, there will be questions about Kelly's job status in Baton Rouge.
