Spencer Torkelson singled, Pérez hit into an out at second and Zach McKinstry gave the Tigers a five-run lead with his ninth homer.
Andy Ibáñez added an RBI single off reliever Brandyn Garcia later in the inning. Detroit scored three more runs in the sixth, including doubles by Carpenter and Greene and a triple for Pérez.
Pérez needed a home run in the eighth inning for the cycle, but Arizona catcher Jose Herrera got him to ground into a force at second.
Arizona took a 1-0 lead before Tigers starter Casey Mize recorded an out. Corbin Carroll led off with a triple into the right-field corner and Ketel Marte followed with a single to right.
Geraldo Perdomo's bases-loaded sacrifice fly made it 2-0 in the second, but Dillon Dingler tied the game with a two-run single in the fourth.
Arizona 3B Eugenio Suarez missed the game after being hit on the right hand by a pitch on Monday. Tests didn't show any fractures, and he is being listed as day-to-day.

Tigers Reportedly Snag Bullpen Depth From Rival After Late-Night Frenzy
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. The Detroit Tigers are adding to their bullpen ahead of the final stretch by acquiring right-hander Paul Sewald from their division rival, the Cleveland Guardians, according to Chris McCosky of The Detroit News. The Guardians will get a player to be named later or cash considerations, per reports. Sewald is having a down season by his standards, but he has postseason experience with the Arizona Diamondbacks during their World Series run in 2023. CLEVELAND, OHIO - APRIL 21: Paul Sewald #34 of the Cleveland Guardians throws a pitch in the seventh inning during a game against the New York Yankees at Progressive Field on April 21, 2025 in Cleveland, Ohio. More Photo byThe Tigers missed out on top options Wednesday evening, but they won't come away empty-handed. Sewald has declined over the past two years after three consecutive seasons above league average out of the bullpen, but the Tigers aren't asking him to come in and be their lockdown closer. Sewald is still an attractive option with a 29% strikeout rate for the Guardians this season, and after the top options head off the market, the Tigers opted for upside depth rather than pay a steep price for the best remaining option in David Bednar of the Pittsburgh Pirates. The right-hander is looking to rebound in the final two months with the Tigers before hitting the open market once again this winter. The Guardians have fallen out of the playoff race and are selling this year, after consistently heading to the playoffs over the last 10 years and are setting up to retool once again. Sewald was not going to produce a return that the top relievers received, but the Guardians felt it was a deal that they could make for their expiring reliever. Detroit is loading up and getting ready to make a run at returning to the Fall Classic once again, and is tied for the best record in the American League entering Thursday. Former Clemson football standout finds new home in NFL
A former Clemson football standout and two-time national champion has found a new home in the NFL. Safety K'Von Wallace, a member of the Tigers' 2016 and 2018 national championship teams, signed with the New York Giants Tuesday, the club announced. The Giants are Wallace's fifth NFL team since he was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in the fourth round (127th overall) of the 2020 NFL Draft. Wallace spent three seasons with the Eagles and played in all 17 games in 2022 before the club released him. He spent 2023 between the Arizona Cardinals and Tennessee Titans, a season in which he started 12 of 17 games and had an interception, six pass breakups, and one tackle for loss. Wallace spent last season with the Seattle Seahawks and played in nine games, making 15 tackles (nine solo) with one forced fumble before being placed on injured reserve. With the Giants, Wallace will reunite with former Tigers defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence, who played at Clemson from 2016-18 and was selected by New York in the first round (17th overall) of the 2019 NFL Draft. While at Clemson from 2016-19, Wallace played in 59 games for Dabo Swinney's Tigers and made 36 starts. He ended his college career with 156 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, two forced fumbles, 21 pass breakups, and five interceptions. Wallace had a 66-yard interception return for a touchdown in Clemson's 52-10 win over Charlotte on Sept. 21, 2019. The Tigers started 14-0 that season before falling to LSU in the CFP title game. A year earlier, Wallace had five tackles in Clemson's 44-16 win over Alabama in the Tigers' national championship game romp at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California, to cap their 15-0 season. Over the course of five NFL seasons, Wallace has played in 71 games and made 19 starts. He has 168 career tackles, two tackles for loss, one interception, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery. Where LSU head coach Brian Kelly sits in CBS Sports' 2025 hot seat rankings
LSU football is hoping for a breakthrough in Brian Kelly's fourth year leading the program. In three years with the Tigers, Kelly has led LSU to an SEC West title and two 10-win seasons. But the Tigers are looking to take that next step into the College Football Playoff. Kelly knows the stakes are high. After landing the No. 1-ranked transfer class in the country and returning quarterback Garrett Nussmeier, reaching the playoff -- and maybe more -- is the expectation. If LSU doesn't compete for an SEC title and make the field of 12, there will be questions about Kelly's job status in Baton Rouge. Earlier this week, CBS Sports released its hot seat rankings, gauging the firability of every coach in the FBS. CBS rated the coaches on a scale with five, meaning "win or be fired," and anything under one means the coach is "untouchable." Kelly earned a 3.33, putting the LSU head coach in the "pressure is mounting tier." If LSU reaches the playoff, even with a first-round loss, Kelly's job is likely safe. If LSU comes close but falls just short with double-digit wins, it's probably enough, too. But if LSU goes 8-4 again, there will be talk about LSU making a move. Kelly has strong support from the administration and has won a lot of football games -- both facts work in his favor. But the expectation at LSU is to win national championships.
