Eagles rookie Ty Robinson receives another positive endorsement

The buzz keeps building as an Eagles rookie earns more praise from the media. This is probably a safe guess. Since you've watched the Philadelphia Eagles all your life, those of you who also love the college game have probably kept one eye on the Big Ten. These days, that's certainly harder than ever as it's now two schools short of becoming 'The Big 20'. Even with all of that being said, your Pennsylvania affiliations more than likely kept you from watching a ton of Nebraska football. Tom Osborne left a long time ago, and if we're being honest, most Eagles fans lost track of Matt Rhule after Philadelphia beat his Carolina Panthers in Week 5 of the 2021 season. The 2025 NFL Draft brought about some changes. Philadelphia drafted a Nebraska Cornhusker in Round 4, and though discipline tells us not to put too much stock in a rookie until he has played meaningful snaps, it's hard not to be excited. This guy's nickname is the 'Vanilla Gorilla' for Heaven's sake. ESPN's Tim McManus names Ty Robinson's selection as the Eagles' most underrated move They say offense sells tickets, and defense wins championships. One of the most significant talking points we've heard all offseason is the number of players lost from the defensive roster. Frankly, that take seems overstated. One of those weapons is rookie Ty Robinson, the aforementioned 'Vanilla Gorilla'. Gosh, it's easy to fall in love with that nickname, and it's easy to love what Tim McManus said about him. Tim is ESPN's Eagles insider, and he recently participated in an NFC East roundtable. Once the topic turned to each team's most underrated move, Robinson earned his shout-out. "Drafting DT Ty Robinson in the fourth round (was Philly's most underrated move). With minimal contact during OTA and minicamp practices, the offseason program isn't exactly conducive to properly evaluating linemen. But that hasn't stopped some of his new teammates from speaking highly of the Nebraska product. "That boy is fire, I ain't going to lie," DT Jalen Carter said. "He's moving good. He's a big boy. ... I think he's going to have a big impact this season." Robinson's NCAA career ended with 134 tackles, including 27 for loss. He also racked up a dozen sacks and 12 pass breakups. He earned Third-team All-Big Ten honors in his swan song with the Cornhuskers last season. This next part, however, is the best part of the story. Rhule gave him a single-digit jersey number, an honor reserved for the tough players on his team who have earned his respect. Ladies and gentlemen, we all loved Milton Williams and are sorry he's gone, but Ty Robinson isn't going to settle into this defense just fine.

Rising Philadelphia Eagles rookie turning heads in 2025 OTAs

The post Rising Philadelphia Eagles rookie turning heads in 2025 OTAs appeared first on ClutchPoints. With OTAs officially in the books, the Philadelphia Eagles only have one more practice session this month, a mandatory minicamp on the 10th, before they take some time off to rest and relax before training camp. Advertisement Soon, players will put their pads aside for some fun in the sun, and fans will wonder what the Eagles will look like when they take the field again for training camp, the preseason, and one of the most important regular seasons in recent memory, as Nick Sirianni's squad looks to defend the Lombardi Trophy they won back in February. Fortunately, before fans and players alike can take some time off to enjoy their own vacations, one Eagles rookie is earning some incredible praise, with All-World defensive tackle Jalen Carter taking some time to celebrate Ty Robinson while talking to reporters. 'You seen him yet? That boy fire, I ain't even gonna lie, he's moving good. He's a big boy,' Carter declared. 'I've seen his highlights before he came, what everyone was talking about. He's here and he's working. I think he's going to have a big impact this season.' Drafted at the top of the fourth round with pick 111, Robinson is one of the more interesting prospects to come off the board on Day 3, as he's a big, athletic defensive lineman who logged as many snaps at 3-4 defensive tackle as 4-3 defensive end. Advertisement While Robinson didn't overly dazzle during his run under Matt Rhule at Nebraska, amassing just 10 sacks, 23 QB hits, and 61 hurries over the past three seasons, Robinson has a chance to step up and play an important role for the Eagles this fall as he fits a need left by free agency. Ty Robinson can fill a clear need on the Eagles this fall While the Eagles lost more talent on the edge than from the inside of their defensive line in free agency, with Brandon Graham retiring and Josh Sweat leaving in free agency versus just the exit of Milton Williams, saying goodbye to New England's $104 million man was tough to swallow all the same, as his production was a big part of the team's success. Advertisement Now granted, the Eagles aren't bereft of talent on the inside. They still have starters Jordan Davis and Carter on rookie-scale contracts and expect to give 2023 seventh-round pick Moro Ojomo a longer runway after showing he, too, after proving he can be an efficient pass rusher during the preseason. With that in mind, the Eagles still need to fill 501 defensive snaps over the course of the regular season, and just giving Davis and Ojomo more snaps won't be able to fully replace that one-for-one, especially if someone goes down with an injury. Enter Robinson, who should be able to fill some role for the team this fall. If Robinson proves to be a better run stuffer than pass rusher, that's totally fine, as he could share snaps in base defense and on obvious rushing downs either at defensive tackle or as a BG-style big edge next to Davis. If he's a better pass rusher than run defender, that's okay too, as he could once again find a spot in Vic Fangio's rotation playing as big a role as he's capable of, be that on money downs or as part of a standard rotation. Simply put, because the Eagles have a top 3 locked in at the position, all Philadelphia really needs Robinson to do is play whatever role he's capable of, without having to leave the Cornhusker out to dry because they have no other options. Robinson can come along at his own pace, play as many snaps as he earns, and maybe turn a few heads if he's really as good as Carter believes he can be. Bill Streicher-Imagn Images Talent evaluators were mixed on Ty Robinson Heading into the 2025 NFL Draft evaluation process, Lance Zierlein wasn't particularly high on Robinson. Advertisement Comparing Robinson to Grover Stewart, a former fourth-round pick by the Indianapolis Colts who has become a force as a big-bodied run-stuffer, Zierlein gave the Nebraska product a fifth-round grade, even if his write-up was somewhat more encouraging. While Zierlein wasn't sold on Robinson as an early Day 3 selection, his coworker, Daniel Jeremiah, was, giving him the 103rd spot on his final top 150 prospects list at the end of April – eight spots before he was selected by the Eagles. Robinson's big combine certainly turned some heads as the draft approached, and in the end, Jeremiah was closer than Zierlein when Roseman and company ran in the final card. Who is more correct, Zierlein, Jeremiah, or Carter? Is the rookie rusher too stiff to really shine at the NFL level, or will his athletic gifts, when coupled with some quality coaching from Clint Hurtt, turn him into a certified starter like fellow mid-round pick Milton Williams before him? Fans will find out soon enough. Related: Saquon Barkley's retirement admission will concern Eagles fans Related: Eagles' Jordan Davis reveals secret behind incredible 2025 transformation

A brief look at an Eagles rookie sends shockwaves through social media

Nearly half of the 2025 calendar year is behind us, and we're under 100 days from the start of another NFL season. The Philadelphia Eagles have returned to the NovaCare Complex for OTAs, and as you might expect, the best social media team in all of pro football was in attendance to gather a few clips and share the highlights. A 35-second clip released at about 4:25 pm EST was the result of their hard work. There were shots of Jalen Hurts, Jalen Carter, and several others, but one of Philly's rookies is the talk of social media as, for the first time, Birds fans everywhere enjoyed a look at their 'Vanilla Gorilla'. A three-second look at Eagles rookie Ty Robinson has set social media on fire. It's fair to state that if Reed Blankenship and Cooper DeJean decide to add new members to the 'Exciting Whites' fraternity, they'd carry the final say. Respectfully, this is an apparent attempt to suggest a write-in candidate. Have you taken a look at rookie fourth-round draftee, Ty Robinson? Advertisement He made quite the impression during Philly's training camp clip, and all it took was a tad under three seconds for him to do it. 22 seconds into the aforementioned OTA highlight reel, he easily lifted a blocking sled and tossed it aside before 'going ape', pun intended, and almost flipping another over. As you might imagine, the loyal members of the NFL's most loyal fan base took immediate notice and shared their thoughts. Though no one wanted to see Milton Williams go, there wasn't any shock either. Philadelphia wasn't going to invest heavy financial resources into a young man who wasn't going to soar any higher than the third defensive tackle on the Eagles' depth chart. He'll certainly be missed, but Robinson's acquisition may make the transition a smooth one. Advertisement Philadelphia's exciting rookie earned Third-team All-Big Ten honors in 2024. This followed a season where he notched 37 tackles, including 13 for loss, to go along with seven sacks, a forced fumble, and four pass breakups. It's going to be fun getting to know this young man. Teamed with Jalen Carter, Moro Ojomo, Jordan Davis, and company, he's going to be special. A surprise attendee at Eagles OTAs stirs some hearts and raises expectations

A surprise attendee at Eagles OTAs stirs some hearts and raises expectations Philadelphia linebacker Nakobe Dean was on the field without a helmet for Day 1 of Eagles' OTAs As the football world ventures under 100 days from the start of the 2025 NFL season, all eyes are on a game featuring one of pro football's most bitter feuds, one featuring the Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys. The Birds scheduled themselves for another phase of their offseason workout program by way of six on-field OTA sessions. The dates: May 27-28, May 30, June 2-3, and June 5. It didn't take long for a rookie to turn heads. Ty Robinson attacked some blocking sleds like his life depended on it. Oh yeah... Birds fans are going to love him. Guess who showed up to the first OTA session? Guess what he wasn't wearing? Nakobe Dean shows up to the first Eagles OTA session. This should warm those hearts. Cameras caught a glimpse of Nakobe Dean at the first Eagles OTA session in shorts with a practice jersey on. Thanks to some digging, we learned he isn't ready for on-field work, but he wasn't wearing a knee brace or any protective device. It appears he may be prepared for the beginning of the season. Yes, you're right. After tearing his left knee's patellar tendon during the Wild Card Round of the NFL Playoffs and allowing the injury to heal for four months, it isn't overwhelmingly surprising that he'd be out of a brace by now. Knee injuries are tricky, though. Seeing him on the field still feels like a win. Fingers are crossed that he enjoys a full recovery and is back to 100 percent health by the start of the season (or he's pretty close to it).
