Premier League star reveals he was secretly a boxer as a kid as he throws support to heavyweight Fabio Wardley
Wardley is a huge Ipswich fan and returns to the ring on Saturday at his beloved Portman Road against Australian Justis Huni.
And he will have the backing of the Ipswich faithful and squad - including captain Sam Morsy - who knows a thing or two about boxing himself.
Morsy revealed: "It's going to be amazing, I can't wait to watch it and I'm buzzing for him.
"It's going to be an historic event and historic moment for him. I used to box as a kid, I had an amateur fight and won, back in the day.
"I enjoyed it, boxing as a kid every summer – six weeks' holiday and I'd be in the boxing gym.
'So I really enjoyed it, I enjoy watching it and it's amazing to see Fab do his thing as part of the Ipswich family – and hopefully he wins!'
Morsy, 33, joined Ipswich in 2021 from Middlesbrough and was named captain soon after.
The midfielder helped the Tractor Boys gain back-to-back promotions from League One to the Premier League.
But they were relegated this season along with Southampton and Leicester.

Morsy has given plenty motivational speeches in the dressing room and revealed what he would tell Wardley on fight night.
He said: 'I'd say 'look, you're living your dream," Morsy revealed. "Be brave, be bold, trust yourself – you've got it. Simple."
Fabio Wardley faces off with Justis Huni ahead of his homecoming fight
Over 20,000 are expected to be at Portman Road on the weekend and Wardley added: 'The support of the club as a whole is something that's hard to put into words.
"It's not just been the odd player here or there, or the odd staff member, everyone around the club has been so supportive and invested in me, wanting this to come off in the years beforehand.
'From the players to everyone that's around the club and Mark (Ashton) himself, who has been a massive advocate and massive pusher of pulling this off… ultimately this doesn't come together without him being keen on it and him really wanting it to go ahead.
'So I could not be more thankful to him and the club as whole for their backing, their support – and ultimately just, at the crux of it, looking after one of their own.
'And I think that's the strong ethos of this club. We support and get behind our own.'

West Ham unlikely to start legal battle with the FA if Lucas Paqueta is cleared of spot-fixing after two-year saga and collapse of dream Man City move
West Ham are unlikely to start a furious legal battle with the FA if Lucas Paqueta is cleared of spot-fixing in a two-year saga that led to the collapse of an £85million move to Manchester City. The bombshell verdict on whether Paqueta deliberately picked up four yellow cards during Premier League matches to influence betting markets is due to land in the coming days with sources suggesting the Brazilian is expected to be cleared. Paqueta was on the verge of a mega move to Manchester City in August 2023 when Mail Sport broke the news that the Brazilian was under investigation by the FA for four suspicious bookings. City pulled the plug as soon as West Ham made them aware of the investigation, costing Paqueta a dream move, potentially his entire career, and West Ham a huge payday. The investigation and trial is believed to have cost the club nearly £2m in fees and it remains to be seen whether the FA will have to stump up the bill, though club insiders believe it unlikely. West Ham will look to sell Paqueta this summer to help fund Graham Potter 's squad overhaul but stand no chance of landing a fee anywhere near as large. Paqueta's potential clearing has led for calls from the fan base to take action against the FA for the club missing out on a huge windfall. They needed to sell players before they could buy this summer to keep in line with PSR rules and they didn't make their first signing until Mohammed Kudus's £55m move to Tottenham. West Ham are furious at how long the trial has taken, and the toll it has taken on Paqueta, however senior Hammers sources told Mail Sport the club would not consider taking action against the FA. It's understood West Ham don't think it would be good for football if they were to sue the game's custodians. An emotional return to hometown club Flamengo is a possibility for Paqueta, though sources say the Hammers would want in way in excess of £25m otherwise will not consider selling him.

Will Lauren James play in Euro 2025 final? England vs Spain predicted line-ups
Lauren James was part of a 23-player England squad involved in training on Saturday morning ahead of the Euro 2025 final clash against Spain. The Lionesses are hoping to be crowned champions of Europe once again on Sunday following their triumph at Euro 2022 under Sarina Wiegman. England face a tough test against Spain, who beat them in the 2023 World Cup final, with supporters keep to know how Wiegman's side will line up. Metro has predicted the England XI for the Euro 2025 final – and you can scroll down for the latest team news, start time and how to watch it… Lionesses star James remains in a race to prove her fitness after being forced off at half time in Tuesday's semi-final comeback win over Italy. James picked up an ankle injury – and despite training the day before the final – Wiegman has said that she is unsure if the player will be fully fit. 'She's still recovering,' Wiegman said on Friday. 'She's doing things on the pitch and we have two more days so we're going to give her time. 'We don't know yet [if she'll be ready], but that's what we're going to go for – [we want to have] 23 players available for the game on Sunday.' If James is unable to start, Chloe Kelly could take her spot on the right wing after scoring a 119th-minute winner off the bench against Italy. England centre-back Esme Morgan made her first major tournament start last time out and is set to keep her place next to captain Leah Williamson. Alessia Russo looks set to start for the Lionesses too despite Michelle Agyemang's late heroics in the last two knockout games from the bench. Spain, meanwhile, are set to have Laia Aleixandri return to the backline after she served a one-match ban against Germany on Wednesday. Viewers will have a choice between BBC One and ITV 1, with both TV channels providing live coverage of the final in the United Kingdom. Analysis from Metro's Sports Reporter Liam Grace… England's road to the Euro 2025 final has been a rollercoaster of resilience and emotion – last-gasp equalisers, heart-stopping penalty drama and a defiant response to their opening ground-stage defeat to France have all shaped a storyline worthy of the grandest stage. Now, the Lionesses stand on the edge of history, with an opportunity to become the first England team ever to defend a major tournament title. It is Spain, the tournament favourites before a ball was kicked, who stand in their way. La Roja are aiming to make their own history – having never been crowned champions of Europe before – and they have a number of impressive stars who can cause England problems. Having scored four goals in five matches, Spain forward Esther Gonzalez enters the final as the tournament's leading scorer. England will also have to deal with the likes of Aitana Bonmati, Alexia Putellas and Athenea del Castillo – some of the best players in women's football. We're set for a fiery rematch of the 2023 World Cup final – with previous clashes between the two nations packed with tension – so expect more of the same on Sunday… with England hopefully coming out on top. Prediction: England 2-1 Spain Speaking ahead of the final, England manager Wiegman said: 'I think that both teams have so much respect for each other. 'They are good on the ball, so I expect they'll have the ball a little bit more, but we have played games where we've had a certain amount of ball possession too. More Trending 'We are just preparing as well as possible. We have to defend really well and try to harm them at other moments.' Spain head coach Montse Tome added: 'It's an incredible joy to be in the final. I'm very happy for the players, the staff, and everything we are building here in Switzerland. 'Now, it's time to recover. We'll start looking at England more closely, although our analysts have already been watching them live and studying their performances. 'We're going to dive deeper into their game, and we're going all in.' Liverpool announce permanent Diogo Jota tributes including sculpture at Anfield
Liverpool have confirmed that a permanent tribute will be created to remember Diogo Jota and Andre Silva. Reds forward Jota died in a car crash along with his brother Silva in Spain on July 3, aged 28. Tributes have been paid at Anfield with flowers, scarves, cards and jerseys being laid around the stadium. Liverpool confirmed that physical tributes have been removed and stored, while floral tributes will be composted and used in flower beds at Anfield and training facilities. The remaining items will be recycled and used to create a permanent memorial sculpture at Anfield. Additionally, players will have a 'Forever 20' emblem – referencing Jota's now-retired shirt number – printed on their shirts and stadium jackets for the season. A club statement said: 'The club is now able to provide details on how it will create more permanent tributes moving forward. The thousands of physical tributes outside Anfield have been gradually removed over the course of the last week and carefully separated and safely stored. 'Floral tributes will then be composted and used in flower beds across all club sites, including Anfield, the AXA Training Centre and AXA Melwood Training Centre. 'The remaining artefacts will be recycled by a specialist company and used to help create a permanent memorial sculpture that will become a future focal point of remembrance at Anfield. 'In the meantime, a temporary area of reflection has been created at Anfield so people can continue to pay their respects.' The club announced earlier in the month that Jota's squad number 20 had been retired in his honour across all levels, including the women's and academy teams. Liverpool paid tribute to Jota and Silva during their friendly against Preston on July 13, where supporters chanted Jota's name. Respects will also be paid ahead of the Reds' remaining pre-season games, where a floral tribute will be laid before kick-off at their games in Hong Kong, Tokyo and Anfield. Liverpool's Premier League season kicks off with a meeting against Bournemouth on August 15 and a main commemoration is set to take place with a special fan mosaic and a minute of silence.
