While the device is enclosed in a thick black case that obscures most of the design details, the layout of the camera lenses resembles the current models. Notably, the flashlight and the LiDAR sensor appear to be positioned on the right side of the rear panel — supporting earlier leaks about a wider camera island.

The case also features a visible cutout at the top-left corner, which could point to a new button or feature. A report from 9to5Mac speculated that this could be a secondary Camera Control, potentially a capacitive touch-based scroll input. According to the report, this new button might complement the existing Camera Control button — allowing users to hold the device in landscape mode, with one camera button beneath each index finger. The new button could be dedicated to zoom controls, while the current one might retain functionality for switching between camera modes.
iPhone 17 Pro: What to expect
Apple is expected to introduce a dual-finish design with the 2025 Pro models, combining an all-aluminium frame and camera bump with a retained glass section to support features like MagSafe, wireless charging, and data pass-through. Reports also suggest Apple may reposition the Apple logo, aligning it with the glass portion instead of the entire back panel.
Anticipated camera upgrades for the iPhone 17 Pro include:
A new 48MP telephoto lens for better zoom and detail.
Multi-camera video recording support.
An enhanced 24MP front-facing camera for improved selfies and video quality.

A recent report from The Verge had revealed that OpenAI could release its GPT-5 model in early August. The new model will be the first ever LLM by the ChatGPT maker to come with unified reasoning capabilities, meaning users will not be asked to choose the reasoning model from the model picker for higher reasoning tasks. Instead, the new GPT-5 model will unify the o series and GPT series model by knowing when to think for a long itme or not and 'generally be useful for a very wide range of tasks'. In a recent podcast Altman teased new capabilites of GPT-5 noting that the model helped him answer a difficult email that he should have been able to do but couldn't. Speaking about GPT-5's capabilities Altman noted, "I was testing our new model and I got a question. I got emailed a question that I didn't quite understand. Uh, and I put it in the model, this GPT5, and it answered it perfectly and I really kind of sat back in my chair and I was just like a, oh man, here it is moment and I got over it quickly. 'I felt like useless relative to the AI in this thing that I felt like I should have been able to do and I couldn't and it was really hard, but the AI just did it like that.' he added GPT-5 free tier users will get unlimited chats at the standard intelligence setting while Plus subscribers will get the ability to run GPT-5 at a 'higher level of inelligence' and Pro subscribers will be able to run the latest model at an 'even higher level of intelligence', Altman had said earlier in the year.

Most iPhones sold in US made in India, says Cook
Apple CEO Tim Cook confirmed on Thursday that 'majority' of iPhones sold in the US in the past quarter were made in India despite US President Donald Trump's regular rants about it. Meanwhile China, erstwhile production giant, is playing second fiddle and is used more to service non-US markets. Cook, speaking to analysts after quarterly results, said that India has been the mainstay when it comes to producing iPhones for the US, while Vietnam is the location for making other products for America such as MacBook, iPad and Watch. 'In terms of the country of origin, it's the same as I referenced last quarter. There hasn't been a change to that, which is, vast majority of iPhones sold in the US, or the majority, I should say, have a country of origin of India,' the Apple CEO said. On China, Cook said, '… the products for other international countries, vast majority of them are coming from China.' While the Trump administration imposed 25% tariffs on India, smartphones, computers, and other electronic devices are exempted from the reciprocal tariffs for now. Trump has been pushing Apple and Cook not to make the iPhones in India for meeting needs of US consumers. 'I had a little problem with Tim Cook… I said to him, my friend, I am treating you very good… but now I hear you are building all over India. I don't want you building in India,' he said during his visit to Doha in May. Cook's clear stance on India manufacturing, is being seen as a signal that Apple stays bullish on India, especially as the country is also consistent in showing strong growth in local sales. Cook said revenues in India are witnessing record growth, led by growth in sales of iPhones. India is among the high-growth markets for Apple, which recorded 10% growth globally in quarterly revenues, closing the quarter at $94 billion. 'We saw an acceleration of growth around the world in a vast majority of markets we track, including greater China and many emerging markets, and we had the June quarter revenue records in more than two dozen countries and regions, including the US, Canada, Latin America, Western Europe, the Middle East, India, and South Asia. These results were driven by double-digit growth across iPhone, Mac, and services.' The Apple CEO also said the company is in the process of expanding its retail presence in India by opening more stores. On sales, India was again amongst the high-growth countries.

Grok Imagine goes live on Elon Musk's X platform
Elon Musk's artificial intelligence company xAI has officially rolled out Grok Imagine, a text-to-video generation tool integrated within the X platform (formerly Twitter).The feature, which was previously being tested with a limited group of users, is now more widely accessible. According to Musk, users can update their X app and request access to the waitlist by navigating to the 'Grok' section in settings and selecting 'Imagine.' 'Grok Imagine is still in early beta, so will improve almost every day,' Musk wrote in a post on X, adding that real-time improvements are expected as the model scales. Grok Imagine allows users to generate videos and still images from text prompts, with videos of up to six minutes in duration. In addition, it can animate static images into moving visuals with synchronized sound, offering creators a more seamless workflow without needing external tools or software. Early users have compared the feature to Twitter's Vine, the once-popular short-form video app that was discontinued in 2017. However, Grok Imagine appears to be aimed at much broader use cases—including entertainment, education, and meme culture—leveraging generative AI for creative expression. The feature is available both via the standalone Grok app and within the main X platform. According to a post by the official Grok handle, full public rollout is expected in phases beginning October 2025. The launch follows xAI's recent disclosure that it is also working on a kid-friendly version of its Grok chatbot, suggesting the company is eyeing wider demographic adoption as it refines its AI capabilities. Meanwhile, xAI is in the process of preparing a fresh funding round, which could value the company between $170 billion and $200 billion, according to a July 12 Reuters report. The company expects to generate over $13 billion in annual earnings by 2029, as per financial projections shared by Morgan Stanley and reported by Bloomberg in June. With Grok Imagine now live, Musk appears to be positioning X as not just a social media platform but an AI-powered content engine, blending user-generated media with proprietary infrastructure and models built by xAI.
