Britain: US Car Tariff Reduction Agreement Comes into Force

Saba Yemen15 hours ago

London - (Saba):
The British government announced on Monday that the trade agreement signed by US President Donald Trump and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has come into force.
This agreement provides for the reduction of some customs duties on imports from the United Kingdom.
A government statement stated that British car manufacturers are now able to export their products to the US market with reduced customs duties of 10%, compared to the previous 27.5%.
The statement added that the 10% customs duties on goods such as aircraft engines and spare parts have been completely removed, confirming details announced earlier this month.
However, the issue of duties imposed on steel and aluminum imports from Britain remains unresolved, although London was exempted from customs duties of up to 50% imposed by the United States on other countries this month.
The British government warned that if no agreement is reached, tariff increases on British steel and aluminum could be imposed starting July 9.
The statement concluded: "We will continue to move towards the complete elimination of tariffs on essential steel products, as previously agreed."

Washington revokes visas of British band over Pro-Palestine Stance

Washington – Saba: The U.S. State Department announced on Monday the cancellation of entry visas for members of the British band "Pulp Fiction" after they chanted pro-Palestine slogans, including "Free Palestine" and "Death to the Israeli army," during their performance at the Glastonbury Festival last Saturday. On X (formerly Twitter), U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau criticized the band members in a post on Monday, condemning their chants during the UK festival. Landau claimed that "foreigners who incite violence and hatred are not welcome in our country," adding that the State Department had revoked the band's visas. "Pulp Fiction" was scheduled to perform in around 20 U.S. cities, including Washington, D.C., as part of their American tour. The renowned Glastonbury Festival in Britain witnessed anti-Israel chants during the band's performance. During their show on Saturday, June 28, band members shouted slogans such as "Freedom for Palestine" and "Death to the Israeli army," with the audience joining in. As one of Britain's most prominent punk-rap bands, their performance echoed with pro-Palestine chants across the festival, one of the largest music events in the world. With American and European support, the Israeli occupation army has continued to commit genocidal crimes in the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023. As of Monday, the death toll has reached 56,531 Palestinians, mostly women and children, with 133,642 others injured—figures that remain non-final, as thousands remain trapped under rubble or in streets, unreachable by rescue teams. Guardian: "Israel" escalates forced displacement in Gaza

Gaza – Saba: The British newspaper The Guardian published a report on Monday depicting the recurring tragic scene of tens of thousands of Palestinians forced to flee the eastern neighborhoods of Gaza City due to the ongoing and escalating genocide in Gaza. The Guardian reported that the displacement from Gaza City's eastern neighborhoods followed Zionist warnings of an imminent military attack that would "escalate and intensify," pushing westward toward the heart of the city. The newspaper noted that the Zionist enemy forces had posted messages on social media urging residents of densely populated areas to evacuate their houses and head south toward the coastal area of Al-Mawasi—a narrow, already overcrowded stretch of land lacking sufficient infrastructure to accommodate more displaced people. Eyewitnesses described scenes of chaos in Gaza's streets, with entire families rushing to gather their remaining belongings and food, loading their possessions onto donkey carts, bicycles, or dilapidated cars amid an atmosphere of fear and anxiety. The report highlighted that this latest wave of displacement comes as Gaza suffers a severe humanitarian crisis, culminating in a famine threatening the lives of hundreds of thousands. The ongoing genocide, now in its 20th month, has destroyed food, water, and medical supply networks, pushing the population to the brink of catastrophe. Whatsapp Telegram Email Print

Al-Quds Brigades: We destroyed Israeli Merkava Tank in Abasan in cooperation with Al-Qassam

Al-Quds – SABA: The Al-Quds Brigades, the military wing of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement, announced today, Monday, that it had destroyed an Israeli Merkava tank in southern Gaza in cooperation with the Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Islamic Resistance Movement – Hamas. In a statement received by the Yemeni News Agency (SABA), the Brigades said: 'In cooperation with the Al-Qassam Brigades, we destroyed a Zionist Merkava tank that had advanced into the Abasan al-Kabira area east of Khan Yunis, by detonating a side explosive device of the type (Thaqib).' This comes in the context of the Palestinian resistance factions' response to the ongoing genocide committed by the Zionist enemy against the people of Gaza, with American support, since October 7, 2023. The aggression includes killings, starvation, destruction, and forced displacement, all in disregard of international calls and orders from the International Court of Justice to stop it.
