Though Queen Elizabeth II passed in 2022, her memory and legacy continue to be felt. She comes up in family members' anecdotes and Instagram posts; her final diary entry, discovered last year, showed her dedication to the very end. This month, her son, now King Charles III, found another way to honor his mother during a trip to Scotland.

The king, accompanied by Queen Camilla, is currently on a royal tour of Scotland. In the past several days, the pair have been busy. The queen hosted a reception for the Queen's Nursing Institute Scotland, meeting nurses, supporters and volunteers. Additionally, the royal couple hosted an 8,000-person garden party at Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh—among numerous other engagements.
However, the visit to St Giles' Cathedral in Edinburgh may prove to be the most meaningful.

Images of the king and queen show them standing solemnly before a black memorial stone. "ER lay here 12-13 September 2022," it reads. The church was Queen Elizabeth's final resting place in Scotland after her passing, where many mourners came to pay respects.
The royal family's Instagram account also shared a series of images honoring the late monarch, including some throwbacks. The first image shows a younger queen at the 1977 opening of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland, followed by a 2010 snap of Her Late Majesty at the Thistle Service, all smiles.
What a sweet way to remember such a legendary queen.

King Charles & British Royal Family Celebrate Pride With Army Band Performance of Chappell Roan Hit

Buckingham Palace temporarily became the Pink Pony Club on Saturday (July 5), with King Charles celebrating Pride 2025 by having the British Army Band perform a Chappell Roan hit on his front doorstep. In a video shared by the Royal Family's official Instagram account, the uniformed army musicians stand in an arc around a conductor right outside the palace while playing a concert band arrangement of 'Pink Pony Club.' Where Roan's voice would usually sing, a choir of brass instruments instead plays the melody of the lyrics, 'God, what have you done?/ You're a pink pony girl/ And you dance at the club.' Since dropping in 2022 and later rising to No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 this past April, 'Pink Pony Club' has become a bonafide LGBTQ+ anthem. London held its 2025 Pride festivities on July 5 this year, with Chaka Kahn headlining a day of celebrations that also featured a number of LGBTQ+ performers in the central part of the city. Music has long been a focus of the Royal Family under King Charles, who took the throne after Queen Elizabeth died at the age of 96 in 2022. In March, the monarch announced that he would be DJing an Apple Music radio show titled The King's Music Room, on which he showcased some of his favorite tracks by Bob Marley, Kylie Minogue, Grace Jones, Davido and more. 'Throughout my life, music has meant a great deal to me,' King Charles said at the time. 'It has that remarkable ability to bring happy memories, comfort us in times of sadness and take us to distant places. But perhaps, above all, it can lift our spirits to such a degree, and all the more so when it brings us together in celebration.' Over in the States, Roan is fresh off the release of her latest single, 'The Giver,' in March. The track marked her first piece of new music since her 2024 breakout hit 'Good Luck, Babe!,' which followed 2023 debut album The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess. The Princess of Wales and celebrities attended the King's star-studded state banquet on Tuesday, where Emmanuel Macron paid tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth II. On the first day of Macron's state visit, King Charles gave a toast in French and said the three-day trip was another chance to "celebrate a deep and enduring friendship". "What's possibly the most remarkable thing is the way in which the speciality of one country is part of the story of the other," the monarch said. "For centuries, our citizens have admired one another. We've made each other laugh, and we've imitated one another." After the King's speech, Mr Macron told him France had a "real affection for your mother" Queen Elizabeth II, adding he believed the feeling was "reciprocal". "She was your queen," he said. "To us, she was the Queen." He capped off his speech - which repeated his calls for closer relations that he made earlier in the Palace of Westminster - by saying: "In honour of the United Kingdom, of this entente amico that unites our two fraternal peoples in an unwavering alliance. "Long live the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland! Long live France!" The Princess of Wales also made her first appearance at a state banquet in almost two years, sitting next to the French president. She last made an appearance at a grand royal dinner in November 2023 in honour of the South Korean president. It comes after she opened up about her "rollercoaster" cancer recovery last week. Also in attendance were Sir Mick Jagger, frontman of The Rolling Stones, who was joined by his fiancee Melanie Hamrick, and Sir Elton John, who was accompanied by his husband David Furnish. Mr Macron joked ahead of the state banquet that negotiations to bring the 11th-century artwork back to the UK took longer "than all the Brexit tests". Talks had started as early as 2018.
