Women Economic Empowerment Index to guide gender-inclusive policies in state, says Adityanath
Covering all 75 districts, the WEE Index measures performance on five key parameters: entrepreneurship, employment, education and skill development, livelihood, and safety and transportation infrastructure. It provides insights into which districts are effectively extending benefits to women and where targeted interventions are required.
The chief minister directed that the WEE index be integrated into the Chief Minister's Control Room for real-time monitoring. 'All departments must treat the index as a foundational tool for policymaking and tracking outcomes. Departments should formulate actionable plans based on the index, prioritizing women's empowerment in their respective areas. District-level strategies must be developed to localize the impact of state schemes,' the CM directed.
The presentation highlighted districts like Lucknow, Kanpur, and Varanasi, where women have reportedly been benefited from government initiatives. However, districts such as Shravasti, Sambhal, Mahoba, Balrampur, and Sidharth Nagar were flagged for urgent intervention. CM Yogi directed that targeted campaigns be launched under the ODOP Margin Money Scheme in Banda, Jalaun, Jaunpur, Mahoba, Shravasti, and Sitapur to ensure greater inclusion of women.
To expand women's participation in the workforce and governance, the CM Yogi asked that recruitment drives for home guards and teachers follow the example set in police hiring, giving priority to women. He also stressed the need to boost women's enrollment in technical institutes, vocational programs and skill-training centers, and to establish 'Re-enrolment Units' in every district to bring back women who have dropped out of courses.
Yogi highlighted the importance of paramedical institutes to support women's careers in healthcare and the service sector. He further advocated increasing women's roles in public transport as drivers and conductors, backed by specialized training and support facilities.

Thousands of devotees in U.P. embark on Kanwar Yatra amid tight security
Uttar Pradesh was put on high alert on Friday as the Kanwar Yatra, an annual pilgrimage of devotees of Lord Shiva, commenced on the first day of the holy month of Shravan. Thousands of Kanwariyas travelled through the State to the holy city of Haridwar in Uttarakhand to collect water from the Ganga. This year, the pilgrimage will take place till July 23. To ensure the safe and smooth conduct of the yatra, the Uttar Pradesh police have set up a dedicated control room at the headquarters of the State Director General of Police (DGP) in Lucknow to conduct real-time monitoring of the pilgrimage route. An eight-member team at the social media centre in the DGP office is working to monitor and respond to any false information that may arise during the pilgrimage. All major intersections along the pilgrimage route have been fitted with electronic signboards to facilitate the smooth movement of devotees, the police said. According to an official statement, 24x7 patrolling has been initiated at all major routes, with Quick Response Teams activated to respond to any eventualities. Jalaun tops state in devpt monitoring
Lucknow: Jalaun has secured the top position in state in CM Dashboard for sixth consecutive month. The CM Dashboard enables continuous monitoring of public grievances, law and order, welfare schemes and revenue-related works. In latest June report of the CM Dashboard, Jalaun is followed by Shahjahanpur, Ambedkarnagar, Maharajganj and Shravasti. Every month, the CM Dashboard evaluates the performance of districts across parameters such as revenue generation, development projects and law and order. It reviews 109 schemes and programmes across 49 departments, offering a comprehensive performance snapshot. The rankings are based on administrative efficiency, development indicators, and revenue management. Jalaun's dominance is a testament to its robust governance and commitment to progress, said govt officials adding that the consistent performance of the top-ranking districts reflects their contribution to the larger vision of transforming Uttar Pradesh into a model of good governance and inclusive development. The official said: "Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh has been steadily advancing on the path of holistic development for the past eight years. During this period, the state has not only witnessed rapid expansion of basic infrastructure and amenities but has also ensured the upliftment of every section of society. Playing a crucial role in this transformation is the CM Dashboard, which has emerged as a key tool in translating the Chief Minister's vision into reality. "

Soon, UP districts to have dedicated committees to keep track on projects
Lucknow: After organising 'Gram Chaupals', the Yogi govt has decided to constitute dedicated committees in every district to keep a close track on the execution of developmental works and oversee the effective implementation of welfare measures initiated by the Centre and the state govt in rural areas. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The development attains much pertinence even as BJP starts preparing for the next year's panchayat elections and 2027 state polls. The proposed District Level Monitoring Committee (DLMC) will be headed by the senior-most public representative—essentially an MLA or MLC—of the district. All other legislators, a representative of the state govt, members of Zila Panchayat, members of Kshetra Panchayat, all divisional development officers, district officials of the rural development department, and representatives of the lead bank will work as members of the committee. The chief development officer will be the secretary, while the district development officer will be the convener. According to a communique sent by the department of rural development to all CDOs, the committee would hold meetings quarterly and ensure the smooth implementation of the intended welfare programmes. It will have the mandate to investigate and initiate action in case of any anomalies in the selection of beneficiaries and alleged misuse of funds. Its recommendations may be addressed to senior district authorities, who would be required to take action within 30 days. Earlier, the rural development department, headed by Deputy CM Keshav Maurya, started organising Gram Chaupals in villages every Friday. In these village meetings, the officials meet the people and help them get the benefits of the various welfare programmes. The concept was essentially rooted in the idea of 'Gram Swaraj' mooted by the RSS, BJP's ideological fountainhead. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Experts said that the move to establish DLMCs potentially marks a deepening administrative role in rural Uttar Pradesh, particularly at a time when political stakes are rising ahead of the panchayat elections and 2027 state polls. This development is also seen as a strategic alignment of governance and electoral preparedness, leveraging welfare delivery. By involving local legislators and panchayat representatives in a structured role, the govt is not only empowering public representatives but also ensuring that the ruling party's face is visible in welfare delivery—a key consideration in rural electoral dynamics. Sources said that the DLMCs will aim to institutionalise accountability and transparency in the implementation of welfare schemes by involving a cross-section of stakeholders—from MLAs and MLCs to grassroots officials and banking representatives. This could foster better inter-departmental coordination and address long-standing issues like beneficiary exclusion, fund leakages, and bureaucratic apathy.
