2 wounded in Greece bomb blast that targeted prison guard's home

A bomb explosion targeted the home of the president of the Greek association of prison guards early on Saturday morning in the country's north. The guard, named Konstantinos Varsamis on the association's website, was left unharmed after about 3kg (about 6.6 pounds) of explosives went off at 2.10am, police said. The explosives were placed outside his apartment building's front door in Sykies, a suburb in the northern city of Thessaloniki, where he lives on the first floor, according to authorities. The blast damaged three apartment buildings, shattering their windows and collapsing a shared wall. 'I woke up because of the very loud bang of the explosion,' Tzetno Kelo, 52, who lives in an adjacent apartment building, said. 'Shattered glass from a window fell on my bed and I was covered in blood.' He was treated at a hospital before being discharged. A view of the site where a bomb exploded. ICC convicts ‘Rambo' and ex-sports minister for Central African Republic war crimes

The International Criminal Court on Thursday convicted a former top Central African Republic football official and a militiaman nicknamed Rambo for war crimes committed during the country's civil war in 2013 and 2014. Ex-sports minister Patrice-Edouard Ngaissona was a senior leader of mainly Christian militias as the country slid into civil war, while Alfred Yekatom, a former MP, commanded them on the ground. The ICC sentenced Yekatom to 15 years behind bars for 20 war crimes and crimes against humanity including murder and torture. Ngaissona received 12 years for 28 counts of war crimes and crimes against humanity. Patrice-Edouard Ngaissona appearing before the International Criminal Court in The Hague, Netherlands in 2019.
