LEGENDARY horse trainer D Wayne Lukas has died aged 89.
His grieving family say the iconic handler is now 'at peace' and reunited with his beloved late son.

Lukas, who passed away surrounded by loved ones in Kentucky, was rushed to hospital last week with a 'worsening' serious illness.
He refused all treatment because he wanted to spend his final days at home.
A statement from his family read: "It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our beloved husband, grandfather, and great-grandfather, D. Wayne Lukas, who left this world peacefully on Saturday evening at the age of 89, surrounded by family.
"Wayne devoted his life not only to horses but to the industry – developing generations of horsemen and horsewomen and growing the game by inviting unsuspecting fans into the winner's circle.
"Whether he was boasting about a maiden 2-year-old as the next Kentucky Derby winner or offering quiet words of advice before a big race, Wayne brought heart, grace, and grit to every corner of the sport.
"His final days were spent at home in Kentucky, where he chose peace, family, and faith.
"As we grieve at his passing, we find peace in knowing he is now reunited with his beloved son, Jeff, whose memory he carried in his heart always."
Jeff suffered horrendous injuries when trying to stop a loose colt at Santa Anita in December 1993.
The horse smashed into him, shattered his skull and left him in a coma for several weeks, resulting in permanent brain damage.
Although he showed enough signs of recovery to work again, it was short lived.
Jeff, who was his dad's best mate and favourite assistant trainer over the years, passed away aged 58 in March 2016.

And while the league heavily recruited Clark, she ultimately declined to participate as she recharged her batteries following an extremely hectic year. While Clark has at times been at her best during her sophomore campaign, her numbers have dipped across the board and she's appeared in just nine of the Fever's 16 contests due to injury. She returned from a five-game absence from a quad injury earlier this month, but only played another five games before being ruled out again with a groin issue. Clark has missed the last two games for the Fever, with her status uncertain for the matchup against the Lynx on Tuesday night. The guard's points per game have dropped from 19.2 in her rookie year to 18.2 this season, while her three-point percentage has so far gone from 34.4 percent to 29.5 percent. Nonetheless, she was announced by the WNBA as an All-Star Game captain on Sunday after she and Napheesa Collier received the most votes. Clark and Lynx star Collier will have the opportunity to draft from a pool of the other WNBA All-Stars to create two teams ahead of the festivities next month. Boris, then 33, publicly conceded he is the father of Anna, now 23, after a preliminary hearing at London's High Court in 2001 as the former tennis ace promised 'I will take care of little Anna' in a statement issued by his spokesperson at the time. Writing in his 2003 autobiography, Boris recalled how Angela gave him the 'look of a the hunter that said "I want you"' before he followed her Then he went back to 'his boys', paid the bill for dinner and went home to Munich. Eight months later he received a fax from Ermakova saying she was pregnant. Becker initially denied paternity, but DNA tests proved that the child Anna (who had inherited his red hair) was indeed his, and he made a financial settlement with her mother — while also funding an expensive divorce from Barbara. Speaking during the documentary, Boris claimed that while Barbara initially tried to move past the 'broom closet' cheating scandal, she kept bringing up the fact that he had fathered a child with Angela during difficult moments. 'For months nobody knew yet [about the baby],' he said. 'But then every little thing we discussed, she came back with the joker card and said: 'You shut the f*** up, because if the world knew what you had done, you are lost.' Boris claimed Barbara inItially tried to move past the 'broom closet' cheating scandal while his wife Barbara had gone to hospital as she was feeling discomfort during her own pregnancy with her and Becker's son Elias. The encounter happened in a broom cupboard in London restaurant Nobu. 'She looked directly at me, the look of the hunter that said, 'I want you',' Becker recalled. 'There she was again, walking twice past the bar. And again this look. A little while later she left her table for the toilet. I followed behind...' He did not give Angela 'a second thought' again until she revealed the pregnancy, he said in the 2023 documentary, adding: 'She came in, she had a big coat on. 'She took the coat off and she was heavily pregnant. You just can't believe it. The wake-up call came very late.' Boris and Barbara's bitter divorce was settled in 2001 after he agreed to pay her a lump sum of £10 million - significantly more than the provisions of their pre-nuptial agreement as Barbara retained full custody of their sons, Noah and Elias. His second marriage to Dutch former model Lily Kerssenberg ended acrimoniously after nine years. In 2023, Lily alleged that Boris 'threw me and our son' Amadeus out of the house in an interview with German media outlet Bild, adding: 'I left him in 2018 and he can't forgive me for that.' 'When I left five years ago, he took away my house and car keys,' the actress continued. 'He threw me and our son out of the house. I didn't have a penny in cash, didn't know where to go. UFC star Sean Strickland storms cage to attack teammate's opponent
Sean Strickland stormed the cage at an MMA event on Sunday, striking a fighter who beat the UFC star's teammate. At a Tuff-N-Uff fight card in Las Vegas, Strickland's teammate Miles Hunsinger suffered a second-round submission loss to Luis Hernandez, who won via standing guillotine choke. Hernandez immediately celebrated by looking through the cage fence at Strickland and Chris Curtis – another UFC fighter and teammate of Strickland – and sticking out his tongue while gesturing to his crotch. That led Strickland and Curtis to rush into the cage to confront Hernandez, with Strickland punching the 28-year-old twice. Curtis in fact separated the pair, seemingly trying to prevent Strickland from striking Hernandez again. Yet when Hernandez appeared to goad Curtis at point-blank range, the latter seemed to offer some stern words before being dragged away by the referee. All the while, the cage filled up with other officials and people trying to defuse the situation. Later, the unbeaten Hernandez told journalist Ariel Helwani: 'We were in the fight, and they were talking in the fight. And listen, there's only so much we can take. 'This is entertainment, right, [but] he said some things, and then I said some things back, and I guess he didn't like what I said back. 'He was talking s***, saying I was tired, he was making fun of me, I think he called me fat. I don't take that lightly. 'Me? I said, 'F*** you, Sean Strickland.' Yeah, he punched me, he did [connect], but I'm still standing – still smiling.' Strickland is one of the most divisive fighters in the UFC. The American, 34, pulled off an all-time MMA upset in 2023, when he outpointed Israel Adesanya to win the UFC middleweight title, though he lost it to Dricus Du Plessis in his first defence. But he is equally known for his views on various political and social matters, having once claimed he wanted to kill an opponent in the cage. Strickland has also criticised women's MMA, and insulted Australia before fighting there in February. Strickland, who previously fought in Australia when he won the middleweight title, said: 'It's a really beautiful country. I would consider Australians as English white trash. Some Irish, too; you know they sent the lot here. As an American white trash, I feel like I have a lot in common with you f***ers.' Referencing Australia's introduction of gun laws, after the Port Arthur massacre in 1996, Strickland added: 'You had one mass shooting and gave up all your guns, that was kind of pathetic. 'It's the lack of freedom, dude. How insane is it that we're in a modern country and hate speech is a thing? [...] We're in a modern country with running water, and you guys know: it's real bad […] real f***ing bad, dude.' Strickland's views were even featured on the front page of the Australian Daily Telegraph 'ssports section. The paper branded him the 'UFC's biggest imbecile' and called for 'someone [to] please knock this guy out'. In a strange move, the UFC shared the front page on its social-media accounts.
