Faculty development programme on drone technology begins at Cluster University

Cluster University, Kurnool is conducting a faculty development programme (FDP) on 'Drone Technology' at the IIIT-DM Kurnool. The programme commenced on Monday (June 23) and will be held till June 29.
The programme is sponsored by the Union Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (Meity) and sanctioned by E&ICT Academy of NIT – Warangal.
Speaking on the occasion, Registrar of Cluster University Dr. Katta Venkateswarlu encouraged the faculty members to utilise the opportunity to learn this new technology to help students prepare for jobs.
Project investigator Dr. K. Krishna Naik said that during the FDP, the resource persons from IIIT-DMK will train the faculty members in manufacturing and flying of drones.
Co-principal investigator M. Naresh Babu said that in the present days, drones are used in various fields starting from agriculture to defence sectors.
Dr M. Padmavathi, Co-ordinator from Cluster University and K.V. Eswara Moorthy co-ordinator from IIIT-DMK explained the benefits of attending this FDP on drone technology.

Prayagraj: The Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Allahabad is preparing to construct two new state-of-the-art hostels to accommodate 1,500 students. Estimated to be constructed at a cost of around Rs 500 crore, these hostels are expected to be completed within the next three years. One of the hostels will house 1,000 boys while the other will be home to 500 girls. Both buildings are planned to be exemplary models of technology, safety and environmental sustainability. According to state officer at IIIT-A, Akhilesh Tiwari, the new hostels will have elevators and ramps designed to be accessible to differently abled students. The elevators will be specially constructed to allow stretchers to be transported in case of emergencies, ensuring the safety and well-being of all residents. The proposal has been approved by the Building and Works Committee (BWC) and is expected to receive final approval from the Board of Governors (BOG) later this year. A major highlight of the project is its commitment to green building standards. 1 2 Prayagraj: A BTech student of the Indian Institute of Information Technology, Allahabad (IIIT-A), Vipul Jain, has secured an impressive Rs 1.45 crore per annum package from Rubrik, a leading US-based cloud data management company. This is the highest offer received by any student at IIIT-A for the current academic session. IIIT-A director Prof Mukul Sharad Sutaone congratulated Vipul on his achievement and credited the institute's academic ecosystem, dedicated faculty, and industry-oriented curriculum for nurturing top-tier talent. "This success reflects IIIT-A's commitment to excellence in technical education and holistic student development. We are proud of Vipul and all our students who continue to bring laurels to the institute," he said. Patna: The IIIT-Ranchi team emerged winner in the 'Cyber Hackathon 2025', a two-day national competition focused on cybercrime prevention and youth technical skill development, organised by the Economic Offences Unit of Bihar police in Patna. Additional director general of police, Nayyar Hasnain Khan, addressed the session, highlighting cybercrime threats and encouraging participants to create beneficial, and victim-focused technical solutions. During the event, students received problem statements requiring solutions within a 24-hour time frame. The initiative focused on developing technical tools for efficient public complaint resolution. Participants tackled various cyber challenges, including voice fraud mitigation, AI-based threat detection, document security, phishing detection, spam alerts, fake news analysis, banking fraud identification, mobile forensics, and VOIP tracking. Altogether, 14 teams presented their solutions on the second day, evaluated on multiple criteria by a distinguished panel including DIG (Cyber) Sanjay Kumar, DIG EOU Manavjeet Singh Dhillon, C-DAC Patna Director Aditya Kumar Sinha, SP (Cyber) Amarkesh D, SP (Cyber) Vinay Tiwari, and C-DAC specialists. The winning team received a Rs 30,000 cash prize, while Rs 20,000 was given to the second, and Rs 10,000 cash to the third winner.
