Jasper Wiese comments after red card
The disciplinary hearing will take place on Tuesday, 15 July 2025, and Wiese is expected to face a ban that spans several weeks, especially considering his disciplinary history.
Speaking after Saturday's match, Wiese himself admitted that fault lay with him after this incident.
'I know I let the team down. Well done to the guys for grinding it out – it's not easy playing with 14, and they showed real grit today. A silly moment from me,' he admitted.
The big No 8 has only recently recovered from injury, and there will now be a big job for the likes of Jean-Luc du Preez and Evan Roos to cover eighthman, while the Springboks may also need to consider shifting a utility forward to the back of the scrum.
'We have versatile players in our squad,' Springbok assistant coach Deon Davids commented. 'Players like Evan (Roos), Siya (Kolisi) and Marco (van Staden) can cover No 8, so we have a few players who can play there for us.'
Davids otherwise confirmed that all players are fit and available for selection, with Erasmus set to name the match-23 on Tuesday.

'He must make a good impression' – Kaizer Chiefs legend on Silva
Kaizer Chiefs legend Tsepo Masilela has advised new signing Flavio Silva to quickly adapt to his new environment before the season begins. The 29-year-old Portuguese forward has yet to impress during the four pre-season matches that Amakhosi played in the Netherlands. In his debut match, Silva appeared lacklustre and struggled with ball control at times, leaving some fans concerned about the team's need for a quality striker. Speaking to Peter du Toit on Soccer Beat , Masilela urged Kaizer Chiefs fans not to be overly harsh on Silva, as he has only recently joined the club. 'Pre-season is very important Peter, for everyone involved, you know, not just the strikers. If you want to have a solid season individually, you need to work hard during the pre-season camp. That's where you load the fuel to take you all the way…so it's very important,' he said. 'I know he is new, we don't want to be hard on the guy because he just joined the team and it's a new environment, new teammates, everything is new to him. it's important to make that first impression, especially to the fans. To give everyone confidence, then when we come back home, we have someone we can count on,' said the former Bafana Bafana defender. Masilela said Silva needs to adapt quickly or else Kaizer Chiefs fans might start becoming impatient. 'If you don't start well in pre-season, it already gives a negative impact on the people. Once you play one bad game in the league, they say, 'but what did you expect, we've seen enough during pre-season, this guy is not going to help us'. You need to get result for the confidence of the team,' he said. Let us know by leaving a comment below, or send a WhatsApp to 060 011 0211. Kaizer Chiefs news: New striker to be sacrificed?
Kaizer Chiefs could look to sacrifice striker Tashreeq Morris after just seven months at the club. The 31-year-old forward has struggled to find his feet at Naturena, having signed from SuperSport in January. Morris only scored once for Chiefs in the nine matches he played for the club last season. According to Soccer Laduma , Kaizer Chiefs are set to make changes to the attacking department, with indications that Tashreeq Morris could be sacrificed. 'The technical team wants to have strikers with wingers believed to be playing a part in the attack. In their restructuring of the squad, they are believed to be looking at releasing one or two strikers, with Tashreeq Morris' name being bandied about. We will see after the pre-season for the final decision on which strikers will be sacrificed,' a source revealed to Siya crew. 'As much as the team is believed to be looking at releasing strikers, they are still looking at signing at least one more attacking midfielder. They are talking about a winger or another number 10. I think that could be last signing for this window,' the source added. So far, seven players have left Kaizer Chiefs in the last seven weeks. Club captain Yusuf Maart has left Amakhosi to join newly-promoted Austrian Football Bundesliga outfit, SV Ried. The 29-year-old joined Chiefs from Sekhukhune United in July 2022, making his debut away to Royal AM the following month, and featured in 95 matches in the Gold & Black in all competitions, scoring seven times, including the winning goal in last season's Nedbank Cup Final. Kolisi makes first appearance of season
MBOMBELA - Captain and flanker Siya Kolisi will make his first appearance of the season when Rugby World Cup holders South Africa face Georgia in Mbombela on Saturday in a one-off Test. A stiff neck ruled the two-time World Cup winner out of an exhibition match win over the Barbarians in Cape Town last month. Kolisi then sustained an Achilles tendon "niggle" and head coach Rassie Erasmus opted not to risk the veteran in a 2-0 Test series victory over Italy this month. He returns as the Springboks seek to maintain a 100 percent record against the Lelos, having beaten them comfortably in a 2003 World Cup pool match in Australia and a 2021 Test in Pretoria. "We wanted to make sure that Siya is 100 percent fit before selecting him, so it is great to have him back in the squad," said Erasmus after naming his matchday 23. Props Boan Venter and Neethling Fouche as well as hooker Marnus van der Merwe will all make their Test debuts in the northeastern city. "Boan, Marnus, and Neethling have been training hard and deserve their chances," said Erasmus, a key coaching figure in the 2019 and 2023 World Cup triumphs. "Marnus and Neethling played against the Barbarians, so they have an idea of what international rugby is about. "Boan has shown great potential at club level (for Edinburgh) and with the squad in the last few weeks, and we are looking forward to seeing him play. "Building squad depth has been one of our pillars as a squad since 2018, and they are all undoubtedly ready to make the step up." The starting team shows 10 changes from last weekend's 45-0 victory over Italy in Gqeberha. South Africa had to play 58 minutes with 14 men after number 8 Jasper Wiese was red-carded for head-butting prop Danilo Fischetti. Automatically ruled out of the Georgia Test as a result of his ill discipline, his place is taken by young brother Cobus Wiese, who debuted off the bench last weekend. Winger Edwill van der Merwe, who scored two tries in Gqeberha in his first appearance for 13 months and won the player of the match award, is one of five starters retained. The others are outside centre Canan Moodie, scrum-half Grant Williams, flanker Pieter-Steph du Toit and lock Ruan Nortje. Team (15-1) Aphelele Fassi; Edwill van der Merwe, Canan Moodie, Damian de Allende, Kurt-Lee Arendse; Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu, Grant Williams; Cobus Wiese, Pieter-Steph du Toit, Siya Kolisi (capt); Ruan Nortje, Eben Etzebeth; Neethling Fouche, Marnus van der Merwe, Boan Venter
