It is being developed at nearly a cost of Rs.12000 crore and will begin at Akshardham in Delhi and connect Baghpat, Shamli, and Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh prior to reaching Dehradun. The project consists of a 3.4-kilometer section in Dehradun, stretching from Datkali to Asharodi, which is already running.
Other key features comprise 113 underpasses, 5 railway overbridges, 76 km of service roads, 16 entry/exit points, 29 km of elevated roads and 62 bus shelters. It has the 340-meter, three-lane tunnel at Datkali in Dehradun.
According to reports, the prolonged legal battle over a parcel of land in Mandola, Ghaziabad has led to delays, as a two-story house obstructs a crucial section. Authorities are currently awaiting final rulings from the Supreme Court and High Court, with hearings having been scheduled for April 2025. Additionally, a minor disruption occurred in March 2025 when a pillar of the expressway in Saharanpur collapsed, though the situation was quickly brought under control.
Regional Officer of the NHAI Delhi Region, Mohammed Saifi, confirmed that construction of the elevated road up to the Uttar Pradesh border has been completed. Testing has also been finalized, with the final report anticipated within the next 15 days. The expressway is expected to open by late June or early July, reports added.
Travelling from Delhi to Mussoorie is likely to be much faster and more convenient due to the construction of a new 26-kilometre elevated road that will directly connect the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway to the hill station.
The proposed elevated corridor will span the Rispana and Bindal rivers in Dehradun, guaranteeing smooth and uninterrupted vehicle movement. Land acquisition will take place across 26 localities in Dehradun, necessitating the demolition of more than 2,600 houses along the riverbanks. The total estimated cost of the project is ₹ 6,100 crore, which includes both construction expenses and compensation for the displaced residents.
According to the New Indian Express, Vice-Chairman of the Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) Banshidhar Tiwari said, 'Land acquisition will be carried out in 26 localities to build the 26 km long elevated road in Dehradun. Land will be acquired by demolishing 2,614 houses built along the banks of the Rispana and Bindal rivers."

Ghaziabad (Uttar Pradesh): The house at KB-45 in the middle of a residential lane in Ghaziabad's Kavi Nagar looked like just another villa in the neighbourhood. But behind its closed gates, a bizarre and elaborate charade was playing out. A fake embassy, complete with flags, diplomatic insignia and even morphed photographs of the prime minister and former presidents, had been operating under the nose of the authorities. On July 22 night, the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) raided the property and arrested one Harsh Vardhan Jain, the man behind the entire set-up. He was not only playing dress-up. Inside that rented house, he had created a world of lies stitched together with forged stamps, fake passports and piles of cash. He called himself an 'Ambassador' to four obscure or fictitious nations, West Antarctica, Saborga, Paulovia and Ladonia. Two of them do not even exist on any official map. The others are micronations with no formal recognition. And yet, for those who entered his circle, Harsh Vardhan sold a dream of foreign jobs, overseas businesses and lavish international access. Photos found in the house hint at a past riddled with shadows. His wall displayed images of himself with Chandraswami, the late controversial godman with known political links, and Adnan Khashoggi, the infamous international arms dealer. Whether those associations were real or part of the act, the police are still investigating. But what the STF did confirm is startling – four luxury cars with diplomatic number plates, 12 fake diplomatic passports, fake documents branded with the Indian foreign ministry's forged seals, fake press cards, two PAN cards under different names, stamps from 34 companies and countries, currency from multiple nations, 18 false number plates and Rs 44 lakh in cash stacked inside the premises. It does not end there. The STF says Harsh Vardhan also ran shell companies, which they believe were used for hawala transactions that are an informal and often illegal system of money transfer. Those who came into contact with him were lured in by a promise of influence and connections, only to be caught in a labyrinth of lies. This was not his first brush with the law. Back in 2011, he was booked for illegally possessing a satellite phone, something typically restricted to military or government use. That case too had emerged from Kavi Nagar, the very area where his latest plot unravelled. The STF's Noida unit conducted the raid, acting on a tip-off. It is a case of diplomatic fantasy, engineered with stunning precision and executed just a few kilometres from the national capital. Officials say the case raises troubling questions. How long had this fake embassy been functioning? How many people fell into his trap? And just how many documents in circulation today bear the fingerprints of Harsh Vardhan's forgery empire? As investigators dig deeper, one thing is certain that this was no small con. This was a parallel world of power, illusion and deception, all built within the walls of a quiet home in Ghaziabad.

CBDT to Employ Tech to Tighten Tax Evasion Net

This is in preparation for the new income tax law that's set to be approved by the Parliament in the current access to over 6.5 billion domestic digital transactions and the exchange of information with overseas agencies, the Income Tax Department is poised to detect evasion more effectively, Agrawal allayed concerns over powers that tax authorities have to access digital records. 'The quality of information has improved because they have also understood our requirements and it is helping us identify taxpayers that hold foreign assets,' he said. East Ladakh's Nyoma airfield set to be operational by October
Nyoma airfield NEW DELHI: In a boost to India's military capabilities close to the Line of Actual Control (LAC) with China, the crucial Mudh airfield project in the high-altitude Nyoma area in eastern Ladakh is all set to be completed by Oct. The upgrade work by (BRO) at the airfield, among the world's highest at an altitude of 13,710 feet, included extending and strengthening the original airstrip into a 2.7km 'rigid pavement' runway with a dispersal area and turning pads, among other things. The Rs 230 crore upgrade will allow operations by all kinds of fixed-wing aircraft like heavy-lift transport planes and fighter jets from both directions. "The runway, with 46m width, is fully ready. The allied infrastructure, including the ATC complex, hangar, crash bay, watch towers, accommodation and the likes, is also more or less complete," an official told TOI. "Nyoma will prove crucial as a forward staging ground for troops deployed in the region and transporting supplies quickly to them.
