These days, it is all about Nadeera Zaini when it comes to the local music scene. She is now the top female star in the country and just about all her efforts are rewriting records and going through just about every other local music fans roofs.
Also not to forget her partnership with superstar entertainer Hael Husaini and his long time writing partner Iqie Hugh. Together, they seem to weave magic after magic in the local music scene these days.
And you can bet fans are already eager for their next big one, as the trio had announced that they are working on their next top hit. The single is already in the works and should be playing in the local music scene in the very near future.
During an interview with The Star recently at her music producer Rocketfuel Entertainment's event, the singer a very humble and down-to-earth character, said instead of enjoying the moment the limelight, she prefers to continue working harder.
"It has never always been like this. I've seen hard times. There were days it was just very, very tough. I went through it all. I thank god, it is better now. But I'm what I'm today is because the love and support I had from so many people. I owe them all so much. And for them, I will continue working harder and work to produce better music for my fans," said the 31-year-old Nadeera.
In fact, the petite lass added that there were times she would have quit if not for her well-wishers. And that is the reason she will not waste her time basking in her soaring career.
Instead, the Johor-born Nadeera said she would prefer to pay tribute to her wonderful mom and dad together with her mentors and also her big brothers/best friends Hael and Iqie.
"My parents, my family - they are everything to me. If not for them, I would have quit. And I say that from my heart. It was always their support that carried me here today," said Nadeera.
"I spoke to them about quitting many times but they always told me to try and try as they had so much belief and confidence in me. Simply amazing for me to have such parents and also siblings. They had always been there for me and I thank for that. More than anything, my family especially my parents are my greatest treasure and gift from god."
She also added she has much to thank and be grateful to Malaysian music legend Datuk Zainal Abidin, who had been her music mentor during her early years in professional music.
"He (Zainal Abidin) to me is the greatest mentor/teacher one can ever have. Like my family members, he always encourage me when I was down. And to that, I owe him much for my success in my career now.
"He is just like Hael and Iqie. The day they told me to sing for them, life has changed. Really, really changed for the better. Especially Hael, he is a great big brother and someone who is always teaching me to become a better singer. All of them, they are the angels in my life who have given me new-found confidence in my career," said Nadeera.
Nadeera made her foray into Malaysian music in 2014 and made her first single entry with "Hasrat Hati" in 2015. Since then, she has been regularly hitting the charts but her current hit 'Bukan Lagi Kita' done last year has been a standout blockbuster.
This year she has done a duet with her good friend Hael and they produced "Gempak Most Wanted" the theme song for the "Gempak Most Wanted Awards 2024" show.
"Before all this, life was a stumble. I even joined so many competitions where it was not so fruitful. Now that my career is much better, I aim to ensure it stays that way and I will always worst hard and honest for the future," said Nadeera.
Add to that feather in the cap, Nadeera has been selected to be the ambassador for the Borneo Flora Festival (BFF) @ Wilayah Persekutuan Labuan 2025. That event will take place from July 26-30th.
But back to her career, especially in the last 15 months, it has been amazing to say the least.
The Nadeera-Hael combo hit GOLD with the Hari Raya hit 'Meriah Lain Macam' and by far was the easy champion for this festival season. This tune is again written by the amazing writing duo of Hael Husaini and Iqie Hugh, these two long-time friends who form an incredible partnership that has composed many top songs.
The fun and uplifting 'Meriah Lain Macam' has turned in an incredible 1.89 billion in social media and streaming platforms. It is also the No.1 hit song in Malaysia and Brunei and returned a tremendous 16 million-plus hits in YouTube. It is also hitting the charts in Singapore, Indonesia and even other parts of South-East Asia.
It is also the No.1 trending song in YouTube for 33 days in a row and also the top boy in Carta RIM (Malay Section - The Official Malaysia Chart), No. 1 in YouTube Malaysia, YouTube Brunei and also the prestigious Billboard Malaysia chart.
She also added another feather to her blossoming achievements, when she also released her own Hari Raya tune 'Dam Dim Dum Raya' besides the super-hit composition with Hael.
While 'Dam Dim Dum Raya' was not a big hit like 'Meriah Lain Macam', it still returned a respectableof almost one million hits in YouTube.
Nadeera said she was just humbled by the whole experience and added she will always have special thanks to Hael and Iqie.
Due to the big support for her current single 'Bukan Lagi Kita', Nadeera also had released a special rendition and edition of the song on May 1. The special versions were available from May 1 in all streaming platforms.
In a special thanks to all, the songstress beamed: " Terima Kasih, kepada semua yang memberi saya tempat di hati mereka. Ia benar-benar menyentuh hati dan memberi saya satu Raya yang tidak boleh dilupakan seumur hidup saya. (I thank all who had me in their hearts and I'm really touched by the love and support from all. It is an unforgettable time that I will never forget throughout my career)," said a very delighted Nadeera.
Being the simple and friendly person, it seems, Nadeera always and wants to remain that very girl all the while. But at the same time. she now has proven to be a top class entertainer and all her fans just wants to their favourite singer continue to soar in her career.

(Video) SEVENTEEN's Joshua, DK, & Dino Confirm Visit To Malaysia For Upcoming Mister Potato Event

Fans never tire of hearing exciting news about their favourite K-pop idols coming to Malaysia for concerts, fan meetings, or special appearances at brand events. We're only halfway through 2025, and the list of stars set to visit our shores is constantly being updated. Joining the list are three members of a popular boy group. Recently, Mister Potato Malaysia shared a photo featuring the silhouettes of three male idols, teasing K-pop fans with the news that they'll be making their way to Kuala Lumpur for a special appearance. Many made their guesses on who they could be, and it seems that the majority are correct! Last week, Mister Potato Malaysia announced their Jinjja Crunch collaboration with SEVENTEEN (세븐틴) members Joshua, DK, and Dino. The announcement video features the idols posing with three different flavours of the popular snack; Original, BBQ and Sour Cream & Onion. While an official statement regarding their visit to Malaysia has yet to be confirmed, the singers themselves appeared to spoil the surprise by posting a behind-the-scenes vlog of them filming promotional content for the brand. In the video posted yesterday (Tuesday, 22nd July), the members can be heard excitedly announcing that they'll be coming to Malaysia soon. 'We have 진짜 exciting news for you guys. We love you, Mister Potato! See you in Malaysia!' they said in the vlog. That particular moment quickly went viral among Malaysian fans, with many expressing their excitement about the visit. Some commented on how surprised they were to hear the news directly from the members before the brand had made an official announcement. Others are hoping that the upcoming event will be held at a larger venue, rather than a shopping centre, to accommodate not only meet-and-greet winners but also other fans who wish to see them in person. However, Joshua, DK, and Dino were not the first to spoil the surprise as MAMEE-Double Decker Group CEO, Mr. Pierre Pang, previously posted on his IG Story about the event when the brand first teased about the collab. At the time of writing, Mister Potato has yet to make the official announcement about the upcoming event with the 3 SEVENTEEN members. While we wait for more details, here's the behind-the-scenes vlog of the singers confirming their visit: The promo announcement video they filmed: Sources: Instagram, YouTube

#SHOWBIZ: Rozita Rohaizad honoured with Anugerah Seniwati Negara

KUALA LUMPUR: Veteran singer and actress Rozita Rohaizad has been presented with the Anugerah Seniwati Negara 2025 (National Artiste Award 2025) by the Dewan Perniagaan Datuk Dato Malaysia (DPDDM). The daughter of the late screen legend Mariani Ismail expressed her heartfelt gratitude for the association's gesture, describing it as a fitting tribute to all veteran artistes. "Thank you so much, DPDDM. It's my first major award, and I'm genuinely surprised to have received it," Rozita told Harian Metro in an interview yesterday. Rozita, who was attending a graduation ceremony for acting students organised by Cinta Events & Entertainment when she received the accolade, was recognised for her significant contributions to promoting Malaysian music on the global stage. The singer, renowned for her hit song "Bila Ku Merindu", highlighted that the award signifies the deep appreciation many Malaysians have for the sacrifices made by veteran singers and actors, particularly those less familiar to the current generation. "All of us worked tirelessly on our music, dramas, and films without expecting huge rewards. May the current generation of arts enthusiasts remember our dedication and truly value our work," she said.

QuickCheck: Was one of the characters in Captain Planet and the Planeteers inspired by a Malaysian?

Kids who grew up in the 80s will remember Captain Planet and the Planeteers. Each week, the titular group of diverse heroes would champion the environment and battle against villains who pollute the earth. In the show, Gaia, the spirit of the Earth, sends five magic rings to five chosen youths from around the world, known as the Planeteers. By combining the power of the magic rings, the Planeteers can summon Captain Planet when they need help the most. Is it true that one of the Planeteers was inspired by a Malaysian? Verdict: TRUE In a 2012 Reddit AMA (Ask Me Anything) post, one of the co-creators of the animated series, Barbara Pyle, confirmed that Gi, the Planeteer who has the power of water, was inspired by human rights advocate and environmental lawyer Chee Yoke Ling. Chee was also the executive director of the Third World Network, an independent non-profit international network of organisations and individuals involved in issues relating to development, developing countries and North-South affairs. While the show debuted in 1990, Che only found out that she was the inspiration for Gi, a decade later, during a chance encounter with Pyle on the streets of New York. Chee said in an interview that Pyle used to call her Gi because she could not pronounce the 'ch' sound. In addition to Chee, Pyle also said that another Planeteer, Linka, who has the power of wind, was loosely based on German Green Party co-founder Petra Kelly, while Planeteer Ma-Ti, who has the power of heart, was based on Paulinho Paiakan, chief of the Kayapó people and one of the best-known Indigenous defenders of the Amazon rainforest. While Captain Planet is a fictional character, you can contribute to making the planet greener and cleaner. Consider reducing the use of plastic bags and using tote bags instead, join a gotong-royong activity in the neighbourhood and make your home more climate-friendly. Remember, the power is yours!
