Makiko Esumi sparks comeback rumour with brand ad
On 21 February, the Japanese health and beauty brand MADO posted a video of the former actress sharing her secret to beautiful skin, which she said to be a combination of drinking a lot of water and applying sunscreen.
Also attracting attention is the girl who appeared in the video with Makiko, who introduced the actress as her "57-year-old mother" in English, prompting netizens to guess that she is Makiko's eldest daughter.
The video sparked speculations that Makiko will be making her return to TV and movies, after having withdrawn herself from the limelight in 2017.
Makiko, best known as the rebellious office lady Tsuboi Chinatsu in the 1998 drama, "Power Office Girls", tied the knot with Fuji TV director Shin Hirano in 2003 and welcomed two children soon after.
However, in 2017, the actress announced her retirement following rumours of extramarital affair which she vehemently denied.

Anne Hathaway heads to work on ‘Devil Wears Prada 2' — in a cerulean blue sweater
All right everyone, gird your loins! The 'Devil Wears Prada' sequel is officially underway — and Anne Hathaway is back on set. In a Monday TikTok video, the Oscar winner, 42, is seen brushing her teeth with an electric toothbrush as she preps for day one of filming. The clip is seemingly a nod to her character's getting-ready scene in the 2006 original, where she used a manual brush before her interview at Runway magazine. 6 Hathaway preps for day one of filming 'The Devil Wears Prada 2.' Anne Hathaway/TikTok 'Heading to werk #dwp2,' she captioned her post. It was, however, Hathaway's wardrobe that sent fans into a frenzy. In true Andrea Sachs sartorial splendor, the 'Princess Diaries' star wore a cerulean blue sweater. In the first movie, Runway magazine editor-in-chief Miranda Priestly, played by Meryl Streep, famously chastises Andy for the look before educating her on the history of the item's color. 6 Hathaway as Andy Sachs in 'The Devil Wears Prada' wearing the iconic cerulean blue sweater. 'It's not just blue, it's not turquoise, it's not lapis. It's actually cerulean ✨,' one user commented, referring to Hathaway's sweater. 'Okay, the cerulean blue sweater — you know exactly what you're doing,' another wrote. 'EVERYBODY, STAY CALM — IT'S HAPPENING,' a third commenter said. 6 Hathaway and Stanley Tucci in 'The Devil Wears Prada.' ©20thCentFox/Courtesy Everett Collection In the original film, Andy accidentally lets a chuckle slip as Miranda and the Runway magazine staff discuss outfits ahead of a photoshoot. 'Oh. OK. I see. You think this has nothing to do with you,' Miranda says. 'You go to your closet and you select, I don't know, that lumpy blue sweater, for instance, because you're trying to tell the world that you take yourself too seriously to care about what you put on your back.' 'But what you don't know is that that sweater is not just blue. It's not turquoise. It's not lapis. It's actually cerulean,' she continues, listing various designers who have used the color in their collections. 6 Hathaway as Andy Sachs in the 2006 original, 'The Devil Wears Prada.' 'And then it filtered down through the department stores and then trickled on down into some tragic, casual corner where you no doubt fished it out of some clearance bin,' Miranda goes on. 'However, that blue represents millions of dollars and countless jobs. And it's sort of comical how you think that you've made a choice that exempts you from the fashion industry when, in fact, you're wearing a sweater that was selected for you by the people in this room.' Hathaway further teased the start of filming with an Instagram post, evoking Andy in a pinstripe vest and trouser set. 6 Hathaway further teased the start of filming on Instagram. Michelle Beadle gets over ugly SiriusXM split with epic vacation
Michelle Beadle might be manifesting her own travel show after her vacation in Croatia. The sports broadcaster, 49, who was fired from SiriusXM last month, shared a behind-the-scenes look at her trip Sunday in a social media clip, which highlighted sightseeing, sunbathing by the water and a boat ride. 'My Croatia Dump is here,' Beadle wrote on her Instagram. '(We really should come up with better terminology.) Until next time… Or I get a damn travel show…' Advertisement Beadle and Cody Decker of the 'Beadle and Decker' radio show parted ways with Sirius XM in June, as the network decided to replace their time slot with a show hosted by longtime ESPN anchor Stephen A. Smith. 6 Michelle Beadle sunbathing on vacation in Croatia after her Sirius XM show was replaced by Stephen A. Smith's new show. 'All I ask is to be treated with respect … Here we are, we're going to do our shows because we're contractually obligated to be here.' During an interview with Front Office Sports, Beadle doubled down on her comments and took shots at Smith. 'It's a reminder: We're just all pieces of s–t to someone. If you forgot, there it is,' Beadle said. ''The Hollywood Reporter' comes out — and there's his face. I was like, 'I should have known.' That was just kind of gross. I don't care that we're being replaced or what have you. It happens all the time. But a little respect would have been nice. Good Lord. I was totally blindsided. Just really embarrassed, to be honest.' Advertisement 6 Stephen A. Smith visits SiriusXM Studios on July 17, 2025 in New York City. Getty Images Beadle, who left ESPN in 2019, explained that she's been at odds with the 'First Take' host for years, dating back to 2014 when she called out Smith on social media for controversial comments made about domestic violence in the wake of ex-NFL player Ray Rice's violent assault on his now-wife. 'I don't respect him,' Beadle said of Smith. 'I don't respect his work. He doesn't like me. This goes back to the Ray Rice stuff. He made some really piggish comments on the air. I responded; he got suspended for like two weeks. I think that was sort of the beginning of the end for anything. 'I just don't respect him. I think he gets things wrong all the time. I'm not talking about opinions; those can never be wrong. But factually, when you spread yourself so thin, it's hard to be right. Not a fan.' 6 Michelle Beadle on the set of ESPN's 'NBA Countdown' in Los Angeles, CA on October 26, 2016. She also co-hosts the podcast 'Over the Top' with Peter Rosenberg on Wondery. Additionally, the former ESPN host is on select broadcasts for the San Antonio Spurs. Ali Hazelwood's bestselling romance novel The Love Hypothesis is officially coming to the big screen. The forthcoming film from Amazon MGM Studios and MRC will be directed by Claire Scanlon (Set It Up) and penned by Sarah Rothschild (The Sleepover). Hazelwood will also executive produce the adaptation. Here's everything we know about the project so far. The Love Hypothesis follows a third-year biology Ph.D. candidate named Olive Smith who begins a fake relationship with a professor, Dr. Adam Carlsen. Lili Reinhart (Riverdale) will play Olive Smith, the Ph.D. candidate. (Reinhart will also executive produce the film.) On July 16, she shared the news on Instagram with a photo of her holding a copy of the book while wearing white scrubs. She captioned the post: '👀🧬❤️ #thelovehypothesis.' She also posted a fun TikTok of her in a bookstore. In the video, she says, 'I'm looking for a book that could be turned into a really good romantic comedy that I could possibly be the lead of.' A bookstore employee then hands her a copy of The Love Hypothesis. She posted another video of her in a lab, wearing scrubs, and highlighting a section of the book: Reinhart's co-star will be Tom Bateman (Death on the Nile). He'll play the professor, Dr. Carlsen. She celebrated Bateman's casting announcement with a third TikTok video introducing his character and their romance arc. In a statement, Hazelwood expressed her excitement about the upcoming adaptation. 'Elizabeth Cantillon [the film's producer], Claire Scanlon, and Lili Reinhart have all created, produced, or starred in works that I'm absolutely feral about, and I am beyond honored that they're choosing to bring their talent to this project,' she said, per Deadline. She continued, 'Books and films are very different media, and I have complete trust in this brilliant team. I cannot wait to see the final product they'll come up with. I hope they have as much fun filming as I had while writing the book.' As of now, Reinhart and Co. have yet to announce a release date, but stay tuned. This story will be updated.
