Raven Inn regulars captured on camera in the early 2000s
The Raven Inn in Welshpool, located near the Welshpool and Llanfair Light Railway, is a historical pub with a strong connection to the town's railway.
It stands on the site of a former mill and alehouse, with some Tudor structures still remaining.
The pub's name and location are closely tied to the Raven Square area, which was a key point on the light railway line.
There's an old photo in the bar showing a row of cottages, including an alehouse called The Black Lion.
Slater's Directory of 1858 lists the pub as The Raven with Samuel Oliver as landlord.
The light railway line used to have a stop called Raven Square Halt, where passenger trains would stop and these days neighbours the Welshpool station since the line's restoration.
These pictures all range from the start of the 2000s.

Princess Mononoke
Miyazaki was already a culture hero in Japan when this animated mythic adventure raised him to a status approaching living national treasure. The young warrior Ashitaka is infected by poison while saving his village from a demonic giant boar; he rides his elk to the west (where the boar came from) in the hope of finding a cure. He stumbles into a three-way battle between a woman chieftain in a fortified encampment (built to protect the secret of smelting iron from ore), a clan of samurai eager to take control of the iron - and the creatures (chiefly wolves and boars) of the surrounding forest, enraged by all the human damage to their natural habitat. Fighting on the side of the animals is Mononoke, a girl raised by the wolves, who hates and distrusts all humans, including Ashitaka. The samurai are pretty unredeemed, but Miyazaki insists that there are things to be said for both the Iron Age settlers and the animals and their deities: rather than a Lord of the Rings -style showdown between good and evil, this argues for peaceful co-existence. Superbly imagined and visually sumptuous, it's let down only by Hisaishi's sub-Miklos Rosza score. (An uncut English language dub also exists, with dialogue by Neil Gaiman and a voice cast including Gillian Anderson, Billy Crudup, Claire Danes, Minnie Driver and Billy Bob Thornton.

Katie Price makes desperate plea as she reveals chaotic attic full of clothes and bin bags
Katie Price needs to perform a big clean up having admitted she fears being left homeless after her rental landlord has decided to sell the property she currently lives in Desperate Katie Price sent out an SOS after being buried by clothes in her chaotic attic as she faces another house move. She launched a plea after venturing into her loft where she was met with more rails and rails of her garments and shoes with bin bags packed full of other items making it impossible to move around. Katie is going to need to set aside some time to wade through it all - and it seems like she needs a hand. She took to SnapChat to show her followers the mega mission ahead of her as she has to decide what to keep and what to sell or offer to charity shops. Showing everyone the mountain of clothes she must wade through, she didn't seem impressed by the size of the task ahead of her. Giving a glimpse at her clogged attic, 47-year-old Katie said: 'I've got all this to sort out. Clothes everywhere. Clothes, clothes, clothes. Shoes, clothes, clothes. I can't keep up with it all! It's all rails of it, there's clothes everywhere! So annoying. All needs to be sorted out." She may need to get a move on as she faces the prospect of having to move out of her rental property. The former glamour model turned TV star has been extremely open about her living situations in the past, having been forced to give up her Mucky Mansion home due to mounting debts. Now, Katie currently resides in a mock Tudor style, four-bedroomed property in Sussex, where she has lived for eight months. Katie rents the home for around £5,000 per month. But now, Katie has opened up about her future in the property and admits she's come to a crossroads. Despite claiming to rake in a fortune from her lucrative adult subscription page and brand deals, Katie has said she's struggling to find a guarantor so she can rent a new house. "I was supposed to have this place for about two years," she said of her current home, before adding: "The guy who owns it – such a nice guy – he let me have the place even though I didn't have a guarantor. "And I've been on time with all the payments, as you should, bills and everything. But now he wants to sell it." Speaking on her podcast, The Katie Price Show with sister Sophie, Katie continued: "It p****s me off. Some houses I look at, I can't get a guarantor. Some people don't earn money like me to be a guarantor. "One house I do want, the landlord wants six months' rent up front in case I miss a payment and he also wants a guarantor – even though I've got the best reference ever from this guy. It's so annoying. Because that guy has read the papers and that, I get judged on it. It's so annoying." Sophie attempted to clear the air with Katie, explaining: "Nowadays with renting they are asking for more, it is more competitive." But Katie, who has never shied away from her struggles revealed: "The truth is people don't realise I got into all that bankruptcy stuff not because I didn't want to pay but because I had a breakdown." The TV star has been declared bankrupt on two occasions, firstly in November 2019 and the second in March 2024. Both of which, were discharged. Her former home, Mucky Mansion, which she purchased in 2014 from Francis Maude was put up for sale in December after she was evicted due to financial troubles. Earlier this month, Katie explained she had started to look for a new house on Rightmove after being informed her landlord wanted to sell the home. She commented: "I've got to move house as the guy who owns it wants to sell the house now. So, I've got to go on the house hunt again. "I might go closer to the kids' school. I am gonna talk to the guy, he might let me stay there a bit longer but he might not." However, if she can't stay, Katie is eager to move closer to her children's schools. In December, she finally found a buyer for Mucky Mansion after she cut the price on two occasions. The home was initially listed for £1.5million, before being lowered to £1.35 million.

TNA Slammiversary sees WWE icon, 48, return to calls for 'one more match'
A WWE legend made an emotional return at TNA Slammiversary over a decade after his last appearance. After rumours and teases turned into an announcement from TNA Wrestling, AJ Styles returned to the promotion where he made his name and helped inspire a generation. Partway through Sunday night's show – which made history with a record breaking North American crowd for the company with 7,623 in attendance – the Phenomenal One came out after the match between Leon Slater and Moose. Slater, 21, made history of his own by becoming the youngest ever X-Division Champion, but there was another special moment on the way. Styles, who was the inaugural X-Division Champion over two decades ago, came out to his iconic Time To Fly theme music from his TNA days. He asked the crowd if they missed him, before praising the way TNA has continued to thrive, and paying tribute to Slater for continuing the rich history of the title and the company. Styles corrected fans chanting 'you deserve it' as Slater, insisting the Bradford-born wrestler 'earned it' instead. The crowd also chanted 'one more match', calling for the former world champion to step into a TNA ring before he retires. He promised to 'get to that match', although he didn't address the calls on the night. During the broadcast, commentator Tom Hannifan announced TNA had made history with its highest ever attendance in North America over its 23-year history. 'This company has worked tirelessly since last December when it was announced that Slammiversary would be held at the UBS Arena,' said TNA Wrestling President Carlos Silva in a press release. 'To see a record-setting crowd at the UBS Arena was a milestone moment for TNA Wrestling that no one will ever forget.'
