Raiders RB Raheem Mostert goes scorched earth on the Dolphins after the Jalen Ramsey trade

USA Today30-06-2025
The last couple years the Raiders added a couple former standout Miami Dolphins players. Last offseason it was top free agent signee Christian Wilkins who many were shocked the Dolphins let him go. This offseason it was Raheem Mostert who made the Pro Bowl in 2023 only to be relegated to a fraction of his previous touches last season and then also allowed to leave in free agency.
Mostert watched this offseason as the Dolphins opted not to pay 2023 Pro Bowl CB Jalen Ramsey and 2024 Pro Bowl TE Jonnu Smith. And instead today trading Ramsey and Smith to the Steelers. Mostert had some strong words for his former team on their handling of their star players.
"Be a Pro-bowler on the Dolphins, get treated like sh*t," Mostert said in a twitter post.
He isn't lying. The proof is in front of you. It's not a good look for the Dolphins and you'd have to think prospective free agents are watching this and thinking twice about whether they would agree to go to Miami. Meanwhile their good players are happy to be going to teams and organizations that want them.

Baker Mayfield gets incredible label from Buccaneers legend Ronde Barber

The post Baker Mayfield gets incredible label from Buccaneers legend Ronde Barber appeared first on ClutchPoints. Baker Mayfield led the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to a 10-7 record and a division title in a career-best year in 2024. Despite a disappointing early playoff exit, Mayfield's performance has the franchise feeling confident entering the 2025 season. Mayfield earned a Pro Bowl selection and plenty of praise from fans for his stellar campaign last year. But a Buccaneers legend dropped the ultimate endorsement on the eighth-year veteran. Former Buccaneers cornerback Ronde Barber got together with Mayfield to watch film and talk football. And Barber gave his take on the franchise and the quarterback. 'This is a unique place. Tampa loves its football players and obviously loves its team but, you're the perfect Buc, man. Without players like you, it's not the same,' Barber told Mayfield, via the team's official X account. The Buccaneers have embraced Baker Mayfield '[It's] not only the player you are but the character you are, the personality that you bring to the game. You're going to be beloved here dude, it's awesome,' Barber added. Baker is already feeling the love in Tampa Bay. After landing with the team in 2023 and reestablishing himself as a franchise quarterback, the team signed Mayfield to a three-year, $100 million extension. The 30-year-old signal caller then topped his Buccaneers debut with a spectacular second season in Tampa Bay. Mayfield threw for 4,500 yards with 41 touchdowns and 16 interceptions in 2024. He added 378 rushing yards and three scores on the ground. After being selected first overall by the Cleveland Browns in the 2018 draft and spending his first four seasons with the team, Mayfield was discarded. Cleveland acquired Deshaun Watson in a trade with the Texans and then handed him a $230 million, fully guaranteed contract. Mayfield was shipped to the Panthers and ended up on the Rams before joining the Buccaneers and winning the starting job in 2023. 'Anytime you come to a place that's won multiple championships, you look at the names on the wall. But then, the fact that you guys are all still involved, says something about Tampa as a whole. It says something that, you guys want to come back, you want to be a part of it. It wasn't just a stop in your career, it's a chapter in your life that you're proud of. And that's what makes this place special,' Mayfield said to Barber. He took a unique path but Mayfield has finally found an NFL home. Now, he'll attempt to lead the team to its fifth straight division title and on to its first championship since Tom Brady was under center in 2020. Baker Mayfield drops blunt reaction to Browns quarterback drama

The post Baker Mayfield drops blunt reaction to Browns quarterback drama appeared first on ClutchPoints. The Cleveland Browns enter training camp with their quarterback situation still very much up in the air. While dark horse Kenny Pickett is now considered the frontrunner to earn the starting job, the competition remains open. But former Browns QB Baker Mayfield doesn't really care. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers' Pro Bowl passer was asked for his take on Cleveland's quarterback drama while appearing on New Heights with Jason & Travis Kelce. But Mayfield wasn't interested in weighing in. 'Listen, I plead the fifth. But I don't know. When I was healthy I was starting to get pretty damn good there. Not my problem anymore,' Mayfield said. The Browns' quarterback situation is still a work in progress The Browns selected Mayfield first overall in the 2018 draft. He won fans over with a strong rookie season, throwing for 3,725 yards with 27 touchdowns and 14 interceptions in 14 games. Mayfield threw for at least 3,500 yards and 22 touchdowns in each of his first three seasons. Then, in 2021, his numbers dipped as he played through a partially torn labrum. Despite the injury-plagued campaign, Mayfield appeared to be the future of the franchise. He even led the Browns to their first postseason win in 23 years when he helped Cleveland defeat the Pittsburgh Steelers in the Wild Card round in 2020. But the Browns had other ideas. The team landed Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson in a blockbuster trade and handed him a fully guaranteed $230 million contract. Mayfield, having been displaced as the team's starter, requested a trade and was shipped off to the Carolina Panthers. Since then, Mayfield has established himself as a star in the league. He earned a three-year, $100 million extension with the Buccaneers after a highly successful 2023 season. And he followed that up with a career-best 2024 campaign, throwing for 4,500 yards with 41 touchdowns and 16 interceptions, picking up a second straight Pro Bowl nod. The Browns meanwhile have struggled since bringing in Watson. After the quarterback suffered a season-ending Achilles tear in 2024, followed by an injury setback in the offseason, the team has added a plethora of passers. Cleveland signed veteran Joe Flacco to a one-year deal and traded for Pickett. Then the team selected both Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders in the 2025 NFL draft. Now all four are battling it out for the starting job with Watson sidelined. But their former first-round pick isn't all that interested. Mayfield has finally found a home with the Bucs. Raiders releasing Christian Wilkins one year after signing him to $110 million contract amid injury drama

The Raiders are releasing standout defensive tackle Christian Wilkins in a shocking move after he completed just one year of the five-year, $110 million contract he signed in 2024, the team announced. The release is with the designation of terminated vested veteran, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported, and the Raiders are voiding the remaining $35.2 million off the guaranteed money that he has left on his contract. Wilkins filed a grievance with the NFLPA on Thursday over the decision. The decision was made due to the way Wilkins was treating the rehab for the foot injury that cost him all but five games last season. Las Vegas Raiders defensive tackle Christian Wilkins (94) warms up before an NFL preseason football game against the Minnesota Vikings, Saturday, Aug. 10, 2024, in Minneapolis. AP The Raiders and Wilkins had been at odds over whether or not to have surgery on the foot, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported. Las Vegas had been urging him to, while Wilkins had declined several opinions, according to the report. Wilkins is a six-year NFL pro and has played in 86 career games, which include 82 starts. He had recorded 372 combined tackles, 22.5 sacks and four forced fumbles, but failed to make the impact Las Vegas had hoped for due to his foot injury. Wilkins had been injured during a Week 5 loss to the Broncos. The defensive tackle had 11 solo tackles last season and two sacks. Las Vegas Raiders defensive tackle Christian Wilkins (94) looks on during the first half of an NFL preseason football game against the Dallas Cowboys, Saturday, Aug 17, 2024, in Las Vegas. AP Wilkins had been placed on the PUP list last Friday and it was unclear when he would be able to return. 'It's still uncertain,' Raiders head coach Pete Carroll said during a Tuesday press conference. 'We sort of have to wait it out.' Wilkins had been recently spotted wearing a walking boot, according to Pro Football Talk. He had been expected to be a big part of the Raiders' defensive scheme going into 2025 alongside defensive stalwart Maxx Crosby.
