'Be a Pro-Bowler, get treated like sh*t': Raheem Mostert blasts Dolphins over Jalen Ramsey trade

Raheem Mostert criticizes Dolphins for how they treat Pro Bowl talent after Ramsey trade. (AP Photo/Abbie Parr, File) Raheem Mostert didn't hold back as he called out Miami's front office for disrespecting top-tier players and fans think he's got a point If you thought the Miami Dolphins' offseason shakeups were just quiet roster moves, Raheem Mostert just threw a grenade into the narrative. After the Dolphins sent Jalen Ramsey and Jonnu Smith to the Steelers, the former Miami running back had one thing to say and it was loud. Raheem Mostert's message wasn't just about Ramsey, it was about a pattern in Miami Raheem Mostert didn't just wake up and randomly fire shots. His frustration has been brewing and the trade of Pro Bowl corner Jalen Ramsey, plus versatile tight end Jonnu Smith, was the tipping point. 'Hot take: Be a Pro-Bowler on the Dolphins, get treated like sh*t. Happy for my guys though! GO BALL OUT!!' Yeah… he said that. And NFL fans are still picking their jaws off the timeline. The message behind his post? Even if you excel in Miami, don't expect that to mean anything when it's time to talk contracts or long-term value. And considering Mostert himself balled out in 2023 with 18 touchdowns only to be let go and fans understood exactly where that bitterness was coming from. Some even speculated that other Dolphins players may be feeling the same, but Mostert just said it out loud. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch CFD với công nghệ và tốc độ tốt hơn IC Markets Đăng ký Undo The Dolphins are making bold moves but it's rubbing veterans the wrong way Miami's trying to keep pace in the AFC arms race, but there's a cost. With moves like cutting Mostert loose and flipping Ramsey to Pittsburgh, they're clearly chasing roster flexibility and cap relief. But when your star-level players start venting online, it's not just about football. It's about culture, respect, and loyalty and right now, Mostert's tweet suggests that the vibes inside the Dolphins' locker room aren't as sunny as South Beach. Mostert's words echo a deeper issue, the Dolphins have a loyalty problem It's one thing to make business decisions. It's another when your former stars are tweeting like they just got ghosted after carrying the team. Mostert's not mad his boys are headed to Pittsburgh, he's mad that being great in Miami apparently doesn't earn you anything back. And if that's the reality for Pro Bowlers, what message does that send to everyone else? Ex-Dolphin Raheem Mostert rips team following trade of Jalen Ramsey, Jonnu Smith: 'Be a Pro-Bowler, get treated like s***'

Raheem Mostert has candid thoughts on Monday's NFL trade that sent cornerback Jalen Ramsey and tight end Jonnu Smith from the Miami Dolphins to the Pittsburgh Steelers. He's happy for his former Dolphins teammates. But he's clearly not happy with his former team. The ex-Dolphins running back who signed with the Las Vegas Raiders in the offseason had this to say on social media: Hot take: Be a Pro-bowler on the Dolphins, get treated like sh*t. Happy for my guys though! GO BALL OUT!! The Pro Bowlers in this instance are Ramsey and Smith. The Dolphins traded both to the Pittsburgh Steelers Monday morning in exchange for All-Pro safety Minkah Fitzpatrick in a deal that also included pick swaps. But he appears to be unhappy with his own exit this offseason after three seasons in Miami that included a Pro Bowl selection in 2023. Mostert joined the Dolphins from the 49ers as a free agent in 2022 on a one-year, $2.1 million contract. After starting 14 games in 2022, Mostert re-signed with the Dolphins on a two-year, $5.6 million deal. He followed up with the best season of his career in 2023 that featured 1,187 yards from scrimmage, an NFL-best 21 touchdowns and his first career Pro Bowl selection at 31 years old. That effort earned him an extension through the 2025 season worth up to $9.1 million over two years that included $3.71 million in newly guaranteed money. Advertisement The following season, Mostert took a secondary role in the backfield to second-year standout De'Von Achane. Mostert finished 2024 with 439 yards from scrimmage after making just one start. He didn't see the second, non-guaranteed year of his contract extension. The Dolphins released Mostert in February as part of a series of veteran cuts in an effort to get under the salary cap. The move saved Miami $3.065 million in cap space. Mostert later signed with the Raiders on a one-year, $1.6 million deal, a pay cut over the non-guaranteed money he would have made had he remained in Miami. And he's clearly not pleased with how the end of his Dolphins tenure transpired.

Former Dolphins Pro Bowler blasts Miami for trading Jonnu Smith, Jalen Ramsey to Steelers

On Monday, the Steelers acquired All-Pro CB Jalen Ramsey and Pro Bowl TE Jonnu Smith in a blockbuster trade with Miami — and former Dolphins RB Raheem Mostert wasn't having it. While Mostert is excited for what's in store for Ramsey and Smith, he blasted the Dolphins over their treatment of talent. Here's what the former Dolphins Pro Bowl RB had to say on social media: "Hot take: Be a Pro-bowler on the Dolphins, get treated like sh--. Happy for my guys though! GO BALL OUT!!" Mostert's comments likely stem from personal experience as well, considering he was named to his first Pro Bowl in 2023 — only to be released by the Dolphins this past February. Mostert would sign a one-year deal with the Raiders shortly after. Mostert's trade reaction wasn't the only one to go viral, as All-Pro Dolphins WR Tyreek Hill took to social media in disappointment. Raiders RB Raheem Mostert goes scorched earth on the Dolphins after the Jalen Ramsey trade

The last couple years the Raiders added a couple former standout Miami Dolphins players. Last offseason it was top free agent signee Christian Wilkins who many were shocked the Dolphins let him go. This offseason it was Raheem Mostert who made the Pro Bowl in 2023 only to be relegated to a fraction of his previous touches last season and then also allowed to leave in free agency. Mostert watched this offseason as the Dolphins opted not to pay 2023 Pro Bowl CB Jalen Ramsey and 2024 Pro Bowl TE Jonnu Smith. And instead today trading Ramsey and Smith to the Steelers. Mostert had some strong words for his former team on their handling of their star players. "Be a Pro-bowler on the Dolphins, get treated like sh*t," Mostert said in a twitter post. He isn't lying. The proof is in front of you. It's not a good look for the Dolphins and you'd have to think prospective free agents are watching this and thinking twice about whether they would agree to go to Miami. Meanwhile their good players are happy to be going to teams and organizations that want them.

Raiders RB Raheem Mostert slams Dolphins after Jonnu Smith trade

The Miami Dolphins' decision to include tight end Jonnu Smith in Monday's blockbuster Jalen Ramsey-Minkah Fitzpatrick trade has rubbed one former Dolphin the wrong way. On Monday morning, Miami traded Ramsey and Smith to the Pittsburgh Steelers for Fitzpatrick and a late-round pick swap. Las Vegas Raiders running back Raheem Mostert, who played for the Dolphins in 2015 and (more notably) from 2022 to 2024, slammed Miami on social media after the trade news broke. "Hot take: Be a Pro-bowler on the Dolphins, get treated like s---. Happy for my guys though! GO BALL OUT!!" Mostert wrote on the social media site X. Hot take: Be a Pro-bowler on the Dolphins, get treated like sh*t. Happy for my guys though! GO BALL OUT!! JONNU SMITH: Steelers-Dolphins trade details: TE included in Jalen Ramsey blockbuster deal Mostert made his first Pro Bowl in 2023, his ninth year as a pro, after leading the league with 18 rushing touchdowns for the Dolphins. That season was also Mostert's first in which he eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark with 1,012 rushing yards on 209 carries. Mostert began the 2024 season as Miami's lead back, but a Week 1 injury kept him out of three subsequent games. By the time he returned, second-year De'Von Achane had done enough to take over the top spot on the depth chart. The Dolphins released Mostert in February, and he subsequently signed a deal with the Raiders the following month. The Dolphins' decision to trade Smith months after he finished his first Pro Bowl season was enough to prompt a public reaction from Mostert, who alludes to feeling like he was treated similarly. Smith had been in contract negotiations with Miami as he attempted to cash in on the most statistically productive season of his career. He ended up in a trade to Pittsburgh, where he received a one-year, $12 million extension as part of the deal. The Raiders have not yet released an official depth chart, though Mostert is expected to split carries with rookie Ashton Jeanty in both players' first year in Las Vegas. In Pittsburgh, Smith reunites with offensive coordinator Arthur Smith, who has historically enjoyed deploying two-tight-end sets. For at least the next two seasons, Jonnu Smith will likely be paired with tight end Pat Freiermuth in the Steelers' offense.
