Caitríona Balfe addresses the end of Outlander in amazing tribute
Outlander star Caitríona Balfe has expressed her deep appreciation for the Starz historical drama during a recent virtual gathering, reports the Scottish Daily Express.
The Irish actress, who portrays Claire Fraser, reflected on the show's achievements and extended her gratitude towards the team behind it.
Balfe remarked: "I think we've been so spoiled to have so many years of the show doing so well and being promoted so well.
"Every single year, Starz have been so amazing and they've put these massive billboards up and it's almost like you start to get used to it, until you realise this may never happen again and it's a really amazing thing that we've been a part of."
She also shared her best wishes with the cast of the upcoming prequel series Outlander: Blood of My Blood: "And I hope you guys get to have the same experiences for a very long time because it's really very special and it's not to be taken for granted."
Balfe was speaking at The Gathering, an online event hosted by Starz in celebration of Outlander Day on June 1, which marks the publication date of the first book in Diana Gabaldon's acclaimed series.
The event was organised by Starz to offer a sneak peek at the anticipated prequel series Outlander: Blood of My Blood, bringing together actors from both the original and upcoming series to discuss what fans can expect.
Actress Harriet Slater, who portrays Ellen MacKenzie in Blood of My Blood, expressed her admiration following Balfe's tribute: "I just want to say congratulations because you've made such an incredible show, and like you said, it's so rare for a show to go on that long these days.
"I feel like things are cancelled left, right and centre, so it's amazing that you've made this and it's so loved and I feel very proud to be joining, and we've got some big boots to fill."
Sam Heughan, famed for his role as Jamie Fraser, also offered his commendations to the cast of Blood of My Blood: "We're actually going to be the biggest fans of your show.
"Honestly, I can't wait to see all the younger versions of ourselves or the characters we love."
He continued: "A big thank you to our showrunners and writers, Diana Gabaldon who... she was the beginning of all this stuff. Good luck and we're rooting for you."
Outlander: Blood of My Blood is set to captivate audiences with a 10-episode run, delving into the romantic histories of Claire and Jamie's parents.
Echoing its predecessor Outlander, the spin-off will span various time periods, showcasing Claire's parents' love story during World War One and the fervent relationship of Jamie's parents in 17th century Scotland.
While Blood of My Blood isn't directly adapted from any of Gabaldon's novels, it draws upon the Outlander canon through anecdotes Jamie and Claire have recounted about their forebears.
The absence of original material has allowed the scriptwriters greater creative freedom to experiment with the narrative and fill in some blanks, especially concerning Claire's parents Henry Beauchamp (Jeremy Irvine) and Julia Moriston (Hermione Corfield).
Claire was only aware that her parents perished in a car accident, but it appears that Blood of My Blood will provide a definitive resolution to their destiny.

HER husband is one of Hollywood's biggest comedy actors, but despite this, Dawn O'Porter has revealed she is struggling to make ends meet financially. The television presenter, 46, who has been married to Bridesmaids actor Chris O'Dowd since 2012, has opened up about her money woes. I'm always broke. My card got declined last week. I'm like, what the f*** is happening? When will this end?' The Scottish writer and director has had a varied career, presenting several documentaries and shows including BBC's Super Slim Me and How To Look Good Naked on Channel 4. Meanwhile, Chris, 45, has starred in some of Hollywood's biggest productions, including This Is 40, Thor: The Dark World, Gulliver's Travels and St. Vincent. The couple have two children, sons Art, 11, and Valentine, who is eight years old. The family returned to London last Summer after living in Los Angeles for the past eight years. This isn't the first time Dawn has opened up about her financial woes as she previously alluded to living quite a humble lifestyle. While appearing on the White Wine Question Time podcast with Kate Thornton, she explained: 'I've never seen myself as a celebrity. 'Even though I'm married to Chris, who is quite a well-known actor, I don't think either of us have ever seen ourselves as celebrities. 'I guess if I was a celebrity, I'd get paid lots of money to do things that aren't necessarily my job or don't really feed what I do, but I don't. My job is writing, with the occasional little ad on Instagram to pay the rent.' After struggling to find her place in the bright lights of Hollywood, Dawn decided to return to the UK but it wasn't smooth sailing. She recounted: 'We were living in LA and I just said to Chris, I've got to go back to London to try and claw back my career. 'And we came back to London for a bit and I'd go for these meetings at TV production companies and I'd been successful. 'I had my own series on Channel 4… and they'd be like, 'What do you want to do?' and I was like, 'I want to do what I do'. But no one wanted to employ me.' The mum-of-two had a regular column with Stylist magazine which she was dropped by and that really affected her confidence. 'I was cool. I had my own show on Channel 4… then as my career just kind of… declined, I think they looked at me and were like, well she's just not that interesting anymore,' Dawn revealed, 'It was the final blow to my confidence. I was absolutely on the floor because I always felt that writing would be the thing that saved me. Dawn released her first novel in 2013, Paper Aeroplanes, which is a fictional story loosely inspired by her upbringing in Guernsey. She went on to release The Cows in 2016 which earned her a place on the Sunday Times Best Sellers List. 'I've worked with Lorraine for three decades this is what she's like off-screen'
Dr Hilary Jones has worked with Lorraine Kelly on ITV for over 35 years, and has shared what the Scottish presenter is really like behind the scenes after they both released books ITV's Dr Hilary Jones has opened up about his long-standing colleague Lorraine Kelly, sharing insights into their 35-year working relationship and the Scottish presenter's character. The health expert, who is celebrating the release of his third novel Under Darkening Skies, spoke candidly about their mutual appreciation for each other's written work and gave a glimpse into what it's like to work with Lorraine off-air. In an exclusive conversation with he disclosed: "Oh, she's lovely. Lorraine - people often say, 'What is Lorraine really like?' and I say she's exactly as she comes across. "She's engaging, she's interested in people, she's genuine, and she's great fun. I've worked with her for over 35 years, and she's written her books as well, so we've read each other's books." It's not just Lorraine who Dr Hilary has praised as he commented: "Of course, people like Shaun Wallace-I've come across on The Chase-a lovely guy-very well read. I read his book as well." Under Darkening Skies will hit the shelves on July 31st, as reported by the Express. These revelations from Dr Hilary emerge amidst ITV's announcement of significant scheduling changes, including alterations to the broadcast frequency of Lorraine's show. Starting from 2026, Lorraine will air for only 30 weeks per year, a change that will also affect Loose Women. Lorraine's airtime is set to be halved, with Good Morning Britain extending by an extra half-hour ending at 9:30am. In the new schedule, on days without Lorraine, GMB will broadcast from 6am until 10am. Kevin Lygo, director of ITV's media and entertainment division, shared his thoughts on the changes: "Daytime is a really important part of what we do, and these scheduling and production changes will enable us to continue to deliver a schedule providing viewers with the news, debate and discussion they love from the presenters they know and trust as well generating savings which will allow us to reinvest across the programme budget in other genres. "These changes also allow us to consolidate our news operations and expand our national, international and regional news output and to build upon our proud history of trusted journalism at a time when our viewers need accurate, unbiased news coverage more than ever. "I recognise that our plans will have an impact on staff off-screen in our Daytime production teams, and we will work with ITV Studios and ITN as they manage these changes to produce the shows differently from next year, and support them through this transition. "Daytime has been a core element of ITV's schedule for over 40 years and these changes will set ITV up to continue to bring viewers award-winning news, views and discussion as we enter our eighth decade."
