Danube Group opens another majestic mosque in National Industries Park

Emirates 24/724-04-2025
Marking a momentous milestone in its legacy of community service and spiritual development, Danube Group has officially inaugurated a landmark mosque at National Industries Park (NIP) – the first and only mosque in the area. This new religious and communal space reaffirms Danube's unwavering commitment to supporting infrastructure that nurtures unity, faith, and social harmony.
Spanning a total area of approximately 7,000 square meters, the newly inaugurated mosque has been meticulously designed to accommodate over 2,000 worshippers, including indoors and in the outdoor prayer area. It also features designated parking for over 50 vehicles, ensuring accessibility and convenience for the community it serves.
The inauguration ceremony was held in the honorable presence of His Excellency Eng. Marwan bin Ghalita, Director General of Dubai Land Department His Excellency Mr. Ahmed darwish al muhairi, General Manager, Islamic Affairs & Charitable Activities, Abdullah al hashmi, COO, Parks & Zones, DP World GCC, Abdulla Belhoul Chief Executive Officer of TECOM Group along with Rizwan Sajan, Founder and Chairman of Danube Group; Adel Sajan, Group Managing Director; senior Danube officials, family members, and respected community figures. The event was a celebration of faith, philanthropy, and forward-thinking leadership.
This mosque is the first under Danube Group's AED 50 million commitment to constructing mosques across the UAE—a pledge made in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense, and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai. The initiative exemplifies the Group's mission to contribute to the country's spiritual and social well-being.
Rizwan Sajan, Founder and Chairman of Danube Group, commented:
'The inauguration of this mosque at National Industries Park is a proud and spiritual milestone for us. It's more than a place of worship—it's a testament to our deep-rooted values of inclusivity, unity, and giving back to the community. We aim to create spaces that inspire peace, togetherness, and purpose.'
This latest project follows the success of the Majestic Mosque in Dubai Studio City, also developed by Danube Group, which was built at a cost of AED 15.56 million. The Majestic Mosque has since become a vital spiritual and social anchor for its community. The new mosque at NIP is expected to uphold the same standard of excellence, accessibility, and inclusiveness.
In addition to spiritual projects, Danube Group continues to lead impactful corporate social responsibility efforts. In 2023 alone, the Group pledged AED 10 million to the Mothers' Endowment Campaign and supported the '1 Billion Meals Endowment' launched by the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI).

The collaboration was formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed during Esri's 2025 User Conference. The initiative, called the 'Map Africa Initiative,' aims to deliver high-resolution, scalable base maps for all 54 African countries. It will serve over 1.4 billion people, creating the most comprehensive base map of the continent to date. The five-year project is expected to address gaps in infrastructure, investment, and data availability across Africa. The updated mapping system will help drive economic development by improving access to intelligent geospatial solutions. These solutions will support governments, businesses, and communities in both Africa and the UAE. Space42 will lead fundraising and project management, leveraging its satellite data and AI-powered Digital Twin models to create dynamic, use-specific maps. Esri will provide its remote sensing and GeoAI capabilities, while Microsoft will supply secure cloud infrastructure and an AI framework via Azure. • The initiative supports national mapping agencies with accurate, updatable data. • It also aims to create a new commercial ecosystem for African startups. The project is expected to enhance strategic sectors such as logistics, renewable energy, disaster response, and smart city planning. Data will be stored in Microsoft and G42-managed centers across Africa. Space42 CEO Hasan Al Hosani emphasized that the partnership aligns with the UAE's collaborative and innovation-driven approach. He noted that accurate mapping is essential for growth and inclusive innovation. Esri President Jack Dangermond said the initiative builds on proven geospatial workflows and will enable sustainable development across the continent. The MoU deepens Space42's partnerships with Microsoft and Esri, while expanding its presence and commercial opportunities in Africa. It also reflects Space42's role as a trusted provider of large-scale geospatial solutions for governments. G42 CEO Peng Xiao stated that the partnership reflects a shared commitment to using AI as a force for good. He said the project will help transform data into development and intelligence into impact. The initiative also aligns with the UAE's broader global investment and innovation agenda. The UAE was Africa's largest foreign investor in 2024, deploying $44 billion. Space42 plays a key role in advancing this agenda through SpaceTech and AI. The mapping initiative supports long-term goals of smart land use, modern infrastructure, and digital economies across the continent. It also strengthens diplomatic and commercial ties between the UAE and Africa.

UAE Corporate Tax: Businesses must register July 31 or face $2,723 penalty

The Federal Tax Authority (FTA) has renewed its call for Corporate Tax registrants who have not yet registered to submit their registration applications, stating that filing their first Tax Returns through the 'EmaraTax' digital tax services platform will enable them to benefit from the Penalty Waiver Initiative for Late Corporate Tax Registration. The initiative applies to Corporate Taxpayers and certain exempt persons who are required to register with the FTA. In a press release issued today, the FTA revealed that as of today, the number of beneficiaries from the Penalty Waiver Initiative for Late Corporate Tax Registration has reached more than 33,900. Register for Corporate Tax by July The FTA indicated that Thursday, July 31, will be the final deadline to benefit from the initiative for the majority of Corporate Tax payers whose first Tax Period aligns with the calendar year from January 1 to December 31, 2024. To qualify, they must complete all procedures related to submitting their registration applications and filing their Corporate Tax Returns through the 'EmaraTax' platform before the end of July 2025. The FTA confirmed that failure to meet the requirements and completing the procedures by July 31 will result in ineligibility for the waiver and the imposition of a late registration penalty of AED 10,000 for non-registered persons. The authority clarified that to be exempt from the late registration penalty, the taxable person or exempt person required to register must submit their Corporate Tax Return or annual declaration within a period not exceeding seven months from the end date of their first Tax Period or financial year, instead of the standard nine-month deadline. The FTA emphasised that the Penalty Waiver Initiative applies only to the first Tax Period of the taxable person or exempt persons who are required to register with the FTA. The FTA issued a public clarification on the Waiver Initiative, which can be accessed through the link 'Waiver of Administrative Penalty for Failure to File Corporate Tax Registration within the Prescribed Period.' The public clarification includes a detailed explanation of the conditions to benefit from the waiver of the Late Registration Penalty, as well as the refund mechanism in cases where a penalty has already been paid. The document provides examples of how to benefit from the initiative in different scenarios. The public clarification provides an explanation for those eligible to benefit from the initiative, as well as certain exempt persons who are required to register for Corporate Tax. Within the clarification, the FTA highlighted that if the Person within the scope of this initiative meets the conditions to benefit from the waiver – namely, filing the Tax Return within seven months from the end of the first Tax Period or filing an annual declaration within seven months from the end of its first Financial Year – they will be exempt from the 'Late Registration Penalty' automatically without the need to submit a Reconsideration or Penalty Waiver request. In case the Late Registration Penalty has already been paid, the amount of AED 10,000 shall be automatically credited to that Person's 'EmaraTax' Corporate Tax account, which enables them to use the amount to settle other tax obligations or request a refund from the FTA by submitting a refund application.

Abu Dhabi expands driverless taxi service to Al Reem and Al Maryah Islands

News Home More from Local Abu Dhabi Media Office Authorities in Abu Dhabi have announced the expansion of autonomous taxi services to "high-density areas" like Al Reem and Al Maryah Islands. Making the announcement on Tuesday, Integrated Transport Centre (Abu Dhabi Mobility) said the service will be carried out in collaboration with WeRide, with Uber and Tawasul Transport as the local operator of the project. The complex traffic patterns in the islands, which are key centres for financial, residential and commercial sectors, offer an ideal setting to demonstrate the advanced capabilities of WeRide's technology, the authorities added. It builds on the services already available on Al Saadiyat and Yas Islands, as well as routes to Zayed International Airport and supports Abu Dhabi's strategic vision to make 25 per cent of trips in the emirate rely on smart transport by 2040. The ITC is also working to roll out the service to more areas on Abu Dhabi Island in the future. "This expansion gives us the opportunity to reach more passengers, showcase our advanced technology in complex urban settings, and further accelerate the deployment of autonomous vehicles across the city," said Jennifer Li, Chief Financial Officer and Head of International at WeRide. The emirate currently operates the largest active fleet, with 44 autonomous vehicles serving key locations across the city.
