
Air India Express flight to Phuket returns to Hyderabad shortly after takeoff
NEW DELHI: An Air India Express flight bound for Phuket returned to Rajiv Gandhi International Airport on Tuesday morning shortly after takeoff.
According to data from FlightRadar24, flight IX110, operated by a Boeing 737 Max 8 (registration VT-BWA), took off from Hyderabad at 6.40am, around 20 minutes behind its scheduled departure of 6.20am.
The flight was originally expected to land in Phuket at 11.45am.

The reason for the turnaround was not immediately disclosed. Airline and airport officials are yet to issue a statement.

Once the protocols were fulfilled, the flight departed from Jaipur and continued its journey to Mumbai, the news agency reported. This comes just two days after a Doha-bound Air India Express flight was forced to return to Calicut International Airport on Wednesday morning, approximately two hours after its departure, owing to a technical fault in the aircraft's cabin AC. According to official data, a total of five Indian airlines reported 183 technical defects in their aircraft to the aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) this year until July 21. Air India and Air India Express together have reported 85 technical defects, respectively, the data shows.

Mumbai: A Thai passenger went into labour on board an Air India Express Muscat-Mumbai flight on Thursday and delivered a boy with the help of the cabin crew. There was no doctor on board among the passengers. Upon landing in the city, the baby and mother were admitted to hospital. Both are in good health. The unscheduled birth has upset the travel plans of the mother, who boarded the Air India Express flight from Muscat with her one-year-old infant to fly to Bangkok via Mumbai, as now as travel documents need to be prepared, topmost being Indian visa for the three. "The pilots alerted the air traffic control to request priority landing at Mumbai, where medical teams and an ambulance were ready on arrival. Upon touchdown, both mother and baby were immediately transferred to a nearby hospital for further care, accompanied by a female airline staff member to provide continued support," it said, adding that Air India Express is in touch with the Consulate General of Thailand in Mumbai to support the passenger's onward journey to their home country.
