Mum who trashed Turkey hotel room is slammed in scathing statement by resort
A mum who confessed to wrecking a hotel room in Turkey during a drunken mishap has attracted criticism from the resort, which has condemned her actions stating that the room was left "unusable" and has circulated photos displaying the extent of the destruction.
Georgia Harrison found herself in hot water when she and her companion were apprehended on May 7 for attempting to vacate the Lexia Hotel in Antalya without reporting the damage inflicted.
In an appeal for funds on GoFundMe, she acknowledged: "I got drunk and I have somehow smashed the shower screen of the hotel room and damaged the room. [It was the] worst mistake of my life. Anyway it's done, I can't change it but wow am I paying for it."
The 32 year old says she was imprisoned in a Turkish cell crammed with "hundreds of men" after celebrating her boyfriend's dental work, as per her statement, and spent several days detained.
As reported by the Manchester Evening News, she was then presented with a demanding £15,000 invoice by a judge and is currently prohibited from departing Turkey until the payment is settled with the hotel for the damages incurred.
In retaliation to what they describe as "one-sided" media coverage of the event, the hotel has released an official statement accompanied by photographs revealing just how severe the couple's room was damaged, reports the Mirror.

Georgia had initially claimed that her only misdeed was breaking a glass screen in the bathroom; however, she mentions being counselled by her legal team to "stay quiet". She has strived to annul the fine with the support of international legal advisors but expressed worries about potentially being swindled by whom she perceives as corrupt lawyers and translators.
However, the hotel 's account differed, stating that the shower cabin was "completely broken", the LCD television had been "removed and rendered unusable", and the outer window of the room had been "broken by an object thrown from inside". Additionally, two single beds had been "separated and rendered unusable".
The hotel also claimed that bed sheets and towel sets had been "rendered unusable" and that there were "traces of drinks and food" on the ceiling and walls. "The furniture and items used in our rooms are specially designed, and the repair process took approximately one month," they stated.
The hotel explained on their website that "According to the proforma invoices received from the company that built our hotel, the cost of the damages was requested from the guests".
They maintained that their goal was to act "'within the framework of justice and transparency. You can examine the photos below to reflect the truth against one-sided narratives. As stated by our guests themselves, our guests left the hotel room unusable," and invited readers to examine the accompanying photos.
They continued: "As can be seen in the attached images, the shower cabin of our room was completely broken, our LCD television was removed and rendered unusable, the outer window of the room was broken by an object thrown from inside, two separate single beds used as a double bed were broken, separated, and rendered unusable, the minibar that we provide in the rooms as standard was broken and rendered unusable, wall-mounted objects and lighting systems used in the room were removed and rendered unusable, the bed linen and towel sets in our rooms were left unusable, there were traces of various drinks and food on the ceiling and side walls of the room, and the room had to be completely painted.
"The furniture, add-ons, and all kinds of items used in our rooms are specially designed, and within this scope, the repair of our room took approximately one month.
"We would also like to state that our room could not be sold to customers for one month, and our facility suffered financial damage in this regard. The proforma invoices received from the company that built our hotel are also shared as an image in the attachment, and we have requested the balance in the proforma invoices from the customers."
Since the incident, Georgia has been stranded in Turkey, unable to return home to her 12 year old daughter.
"I know I did wrong and I regret being so stupid to have damaged the hotel, but I need to get home to my daughter," she penned in a post on GoFundMe. "I'm sorry I was scared and I just tried to get away from it by trying to leave. Yes it was the wrong thing to do, but I was scared and not thinking straight.
"Maybe if I didn't, I wouldn't be in this mess. I know only I am to blame and my actions are the reason I cannot see my daughter."

Police launch appeal after girl, 4, is mauled by XL bully on river footpath
After a four-year-old girl was attacked by a dog on the River Irwell footpath, in Kersal, Salford, Greater Manchester Police has issued an appeal for information. An XL bully bit a four-year-old girl along a riverside footpath in Salford. Greater Manchester Police (GMP) have launched an appeal for information today following the incident where the young child was attacked by a dog on the River Irwell footpath in Kersal. The unfortunate event occurred sometime between 2pm and 3pm on Saturday, July 19. Thankfully, the little girl did not sustain any severe injuries from the attack, according to GMP. At present, what prompted the attack or whether the dog's owner was present during the incident is unknown. It comes after a Brit mum's 'horrendous' death after being scratched by a puppy with rabies on holiday. The police are now calling on any witnesses to step forward with information as they begin to piece together the details of the attack, reports Manchester Evening News. A spokesperson for GMP Salford stated: "We are appealing for information following an incident which saw an XL bully bite a four-year-old child on footpath of the River Irwell in Kersal between 2-3pm on Saturday, July 19 2025. "Thankfully no serious injury was sustained." This is not the only incident involving XL Bully dogs in recent times. On April 26 this year, a church volunteer was brutally attacked by an XL Bully while he was asleep, with the banned breed ripping off the man's ear. Darren Shuttleworth-Long was caring for the dog, which wasn't his own, when he was set upon at a property in Exeter Street, Swindon. The 52-year-old had dozed off beside the animal but awoke to find it with its jaw clamped beneath his armpit. The dog continued mauling and biting Darren, from Swindon, Wiltshire, for approximately 10 minutes. The XL Bully succeeded in tearing his right ear clean off and also left half of Darren's nose "hanging off". Anyone with information about the attack is urged to call 101 and quote reference CRI/06FF/0019513/25. Alternatively, tips can be given anonymously via Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111.

Colin Hendry admits domestic abuse as former Scotland captain handed restraining order
The 59-year-old captained Scotland at the 1998 World Cup in France. Former Scotland captain Colin Hendry has been given a 12-month community order and a restraining order for harassing his ex-partner. The 59-year-old ex-central defender, who helped Blackburn win the Premier League title and captained Scotland at the 1998 World Cup, was sentenced at Preston Magistrates' Court on Wednesday. Hendry had admitted harassment of his former partner over a period of six months after their relationship ended. Natasha Clark, senior crown prosecutor for the Crown Prosecution Service North West, said: 'Colin Hendry harassed a former partner for over six months after their relationship ended after she stopped returning his calls. 'He ignored her wishes and breached boundaries she put in place, using multiple different platforms to contact her. 'Hendry's behaviour was intimidating and persistent, causing the victim immense distress, but despite this he initially refused to accept it was harassment. Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! 'This outcome is a clear indication that the CPS will not hesitate to prosecute anyone guilty of harassment, whether this is in person or online.' The court heard Hendry sent his ex messages from multiple different email accounts, utilising no caller ID to call her after she blocked his number. When his calls went unanswered, he turned to other means including dozens of emails and messaging her on LinkedIn. After her saying she no longer wanted any kind of relationship with him, Hendry consistently attempted to contact her, showing up to her house with unwanted gifts and flowers on several occasions. The victim reported Hendry to the police, saying she felt depressed and anxious because of his behaviour. She said she was unable to leave the house without fearing an unannounced visit from him. Lancashire Police contacted Hendry to warn him about his behaviour, telling him to stop all communications to the ex-partner which were unwanted. While Hendry admitted to his conduct, he tried to deny it was harassment, claiming he never received a written warning from police so continued to contact her and that he was simply concerned for the affected person and her dog. He later admitted one count of harassment without violence. Hendry started his football career with Dundee before moving to Blackburn in 1987 and then on to Manchester City two years later. He rejoined Rovers for a second stint in 1991 and was a key part of the title-winning team four years later, before spending 18 months in the Scottish Premiership with Rangers towards the end of the 1990s.
