Turkish hotel shames British mother who smashed up hotel room after drunkenly celebrating her boyfriend's new veneers by publishing 'full list and pictures of damage she caused'

A British mum who is being held in Turkey for over £15,000 worth of room damage has been shamed by the hotel she stayed at. The Lexia Hotel claimed Georgia Harrison, 32, smashed her shower screen, ripped the TV off the wall and broke the window of her room while drunk after celebrating her boyfriend's new veneers. When they woke up, the couple, from Rochdale, Greater Manchester, tried to catch a taxi to the airport but the car was chased by hotel staff and surrounded before they were arrested by the police. The cleaner and partner Arron Tighe, 32, were held in a cell for days, questioned without a lawyer, and then hauled before a judge who told her she could not leave the country until she paid the £15,000 in damages. The Lexia Hotel have now released pictures of the 'unusable' room, where the double bed had been ripped and food splattered on the walls. The bed linens and towels were also left unusable and the minibar was smashed. Wall mounts and lights were 'removed and rendered unusable' and the whole room had to be repainted, the hotel said. 'The furniture and items used in our rooms are specially designed, and the repair process took approximately one month,' the hotel added. 'We would also like to state that our room could not be sold to customers for one month, and our facility suffered financial damage in this regard.' The day before the hotel room was wrecked, the couple had downed cocktails and vodka and lemonades during a boozy night out to toast his new £2,000 full veneers. Ms Harrison said she made 'the worst mistake of my life' that night by mixing booze with antipsychotic medication which caused her to black out and 'throw things around'. The British Embassy told the couple at the time they couldn't help lift their travel ban and advised them to find a lawyer. The couple said they paid £2,500 to one who promised to help but nearly two months later they are still unable to leave. Ms Harrison had previously only admitted to the broken shower screen but her legal team had since allegedly told her to 'stay quiet', Manchester Evening News reported. Mum-of-one Georgia says she is heartbroken when daughter Poppy, 12, keeps calling to ask her when she is coming home and has launched a GoFundMe appeal to help pay the bill so she can fly home. She estimates she has had to spend a further £7,000 on hotels, taxis and living expenses while detained in Turkey and is close to running out of money. In desperation to get back to her daughter she has even tried to book another flight and catch a boat to Greece to escape but was stopped each time when her passport was checked. She told MailOnline: 'It's heartbreaking, she doesn't understand why I can't come home. Sometimes I think I'm never going to get back to her.' 'It's driving me insane, I feel like I have got no way out of here. 'I know I did wrong and I regret being so stupid to have damaged the hotel, but I need to get home to my daughter. 'I just feel so weak and I'm getting nowhere, it's killing me. 'I understand I have done wrong but I'm not a bank robber or a drug smuggler - I made a stupid mistake, I don't even remember doing it, but I have done all I can to fix it.' In their statement, the hotel said: 'As can be seen in the attached images, the shower cabin of our room was completely broken, our LCD television was removed and rendered unusable, the outer window of the room was broken by an object thrown from inside, two separate single beds used as a double bed were broken, separated, and rendered unusable, the minibar that we provide in the rooms as standard was broken and rendered unusable, wall-mounted objects and lighting systems used in the room were removed and rendered unusable, the bed linen and towel sets in our rooms were left unusable, there were traces of various drinks and food on the ceiling and side walls of the room, and the room had to be completely painted.' 'The proforma invoices received from the company that built our hotel are also shared as an image in the attachment, and we have requested the balance in the proforma invoices from the customers. 'As stated by our guests themselves, our guests left the hotel room unusable.' On the GoFundMe page, Georgia wrote: 'I feel so ashamed writing this but my daughter needs me and this is my only hope. 'I feel like giving up but that's not me, yet I also feel so lucky to be alive. 'I put all faith in my lawyer giving him my power of attorney but l'm getting nowhere. I'm losing everything slowly, even my will to live.

Mum who trashed Turkish hotel room slammed by resort

A mother who admitted to destroying a hotel room in Türkiye during a drunken mishap has come under fire from the resort, which described the room as now 'unusable'. Georgia Harrison was arrested with her partner on May 7 after allegedly attempting to check out of the Lexia Hotel in Antalya without reporting the destruction. A judge has since ordered her to pay £15,000 (A$31,000) in damages. Now seeking financial help through a GoFundMe campaign, Ms Harrison admitted she 'got drunk and smashed the shower screen' in what she called the 'worst mistake of my life.' The 32-year-old British woman, who had been celebrating her boyfriend's new teeth at the time, claims she was thrown into a Turkish jail cell crowded with 'hundreds of men' and held for several days. She has since been barred from leaving Türkiye until the hotel receives payment for the damages. Meanwhile, the hotel has issued a scathing statement in response to the incident, and supplied images to The Mirror that show the full extent of the damage caused to the couple's room. Ms Harrison previously claimed she had only broken the glass screen in the bathroom, but says she was told by her legal team to 'stay quiet'. In the fundraising plea, she revealed she attempted to get the fine lifted with the help of legal professionals but raised concerns about getting 'robbed left, right and centre' by what she claims are corrupt lawyers and translators. According to the hotel, the damage to the room was extensive. The shower was 'completely broken,' the television had been 'removed and rendered unusable,' and the exterior window was shattered after 'an object was thrown from inside.' Additionally, two single beds were 'separated and rendered unusable,' the hotel reported. Staff also claimed the minibar, bed sheets, and towel sets, with food and drink splattered across the ceiling and walls — destruction that staff say required the entire room to be repainted 'The furniture and items used in our rooms are specially designed, and the repair process took approximately one month,' a spokesperson for the hotel said. Ms Harrison has taken full responsibility for the incident and regrets 'being so stupid' to have damaged the hotel room. She says she is desperate to return home to her daughter and pleaded for understanding in the GoFundMe statement. 'I'm sorry I was scared and I just tried to get away from it by trying to leave. Yes it was the wrong thing to do, but I was scared and not thinking straight. 'Maybe if I didn't, I wouldn't be in this mess. I know only I am to blame and my actions are the reason I cannot see my daughter.' Ms Harrison has now been stuck in Türkiye for six weeks.

Mum who trashed Turkey hotel room is slammed in scathing statement by resort

Georgia Harrison was arrested with her partner on May 7 after allegedly trying to leave the Lexia Hotel in Antalya without declaring the damage. A mum who confessed to wrecking a hotel room in Turkey during a drunken mishap has attracted criticism from the resort, which has condemned her actions stating that the room was left "unusable" and has circulated photos displaying the extent of the destruction. Georgia Harrison found herself in hot water when she and her companion were apprehended on May 7 for attempting to vacate the Lexia Hotel in Antalya without reporting the damage inflicted. ‌ In an appeal for funds on GoFundMe, she acknowledged: "I got drunk and I have somehow smashed the shower screen of the hotel room and damaged the room. [It was the] worst mistake of my life. Anyway it's done, I can't change it but wow am I paying for it." ‌ The 32 year old says she was imprisoned in a Turkish cell crammed with "hundreds of men" after celebrating her boyfriend's dental work, as per her statement, and spent several days detained. As reported by the Manchester Evening News, she was then presented with a demanding £15,000 invoice by a judge and is currently prohibited from departing Turkey until the payment is settled with the hotel for the damages incurred. In retaliation to what they describe as "one-sided" media coverage of the event, the hotel has released an official statement accompanied by photographs revealing just how severe the couple's room was damaged, reports the Mirror. She has strived to annul the fine with the support of international legal advisors but expressed worries about potentially being swindled by whom she perceives as corrupt lawyers and translators. However, the hotel 's account differed, stating that the shower cabin was "completely broken", the LCD television had been "removed and rendered unusable", and the outer window of the room had been "broken by an object thrown from inside". Additionally, two single beds had been "separated and rendered unusable". The hotel also claimed that bed sheets and towel sets had been "rendered unusable" and that there were "traces of drinks and food" on the ceiling and walls. "The furniture and items used in our rooms are specially designed, and the repair process took approximately one month," they stated. ‌ The hotel explained on their website that "According to the proforma invoices received from the company that built our hotel, the cost of the damages was requested from the guests". They maintained that their goal was to act "'within the framework of justice and transparency. You can examine the photos below to reflect the truth against one-sided narratives. As stated by our guests themselves, our guests left the hotel room unusable," and invited readers to examine the accompanying photos. ‌ They continued: "As can be seen in the attached images, the shower cabin of our room was completely broken, our LCD television was removed and rendered unusable, the outer window of the room was broken by an object thrown from inside, two separate single beds used as a double bed were broken, separated, and rendered unusable, the minibar that we provide in the rooms as standard was broken and rendered unusable, wall-mounted objects and lighting systems used in the room were removed and rendered unusable, the bed linen and towel sets in our rooms were left unusable, there were traces of various drinks and food on the ceiling and side walls of the room, and the room had to be completely painted. The proforma invoices received from the company that built our hotel are also shared as an image in the attachment, and we have requested the balance in the proforma invoices from the customers." Since the incident, Georgia has been stranded in Turkey, unable to return home to her 12 year old daughter. "I know I did wrong and I regret being so stupid to have damaged the hotel, but I need to get home to my daughter," she penned in a post on GoFundMe. "I'm sorry I was scared and I just tried to get away from it by trying to leave. Yes it was the wrong thing to do, but I was scared and not thinking straight. "Maybe if I didn't, I wouldn't be in this mess. I know only I am to blame and my actions are the reason I cannot see my daughter."

Foreign Office statement after mum gets Turkey travel ban over 'drunken mistake' during trip for boyfriend's new teeth

The Foreign Office has issued a statement after a mum from Greater Manchester was put on a travel ban in Turkey during a trip for her boyfriend's new teeth. Georgia Harrison, 32, from Whitworth in Rochdale, was arrested alongside her partner after making the 'worst mistake of her life' while drunk in a hotel room last month. The mum had spent the night celebrating her boyfriend getting his new veneers as part of the trip when she says she blacked out and smashed the glass bathroom screen. The following morning, on May 7, when trying to leave the Lexia Hotel in Antalya without declaring the damage, she was arrested. She claimed she was told to pay the sum of £15,000 for the damage and after 'resisting arrest' to have her travel ban removed and appeared in court. What followed has been weeks of turmoil for the Greater Manchester mum, with Georgia previously telling the M.E.N she initially offered a sum of £3,000 and instructed legal representatives to try and fight for the travel ban to be lifted so she could return home with her daughter, aged 12. The Foreign Office has since issued a statement confirming they are in contact with Turkish authorities over the mum's travel ban, which has prevented her from flying back home to Rochdale. An FCDO spokesperson said: 'We are providing support to a British woman who has received a travel ban in Turkey and are in contact with the local authorities." As part of their support overseas, the Foreign Office is able provide the details of where to access interpreters. "I got drunk and I have somehow smashed the shower screen of the hotel room and damaged the room. [It was the] worst mistake of my life. Anyway it's done, I can't change it but wow am I paying for it," Georgia said last week. "I know I did wrong and I regret being so stupid to have damaged the hotel, but I need to get home to my daughter. "I'm sorry I was scared and I just tried to get away from it by trying to leave. Yes it was the wrong thing to do, but I was scared and not thinking straight. Maybe if I didn't, I would be in this mess. I know only I am to blame and my actions are the reason I cannot see my daughter." Since the incident, Georgia claims she has appeared in court and unknowingly signed an agreement to pay back £15,000 in damages, was originally denied a solicitor, and has also been unable to access her vital medication, which she only had a five-day supply of for her original trip. Despite attempts at mediation with legal representatives overseas, she says the travel ban has still not been lifted, with the fine looming over her, and she has since tried to flee the country via plane, a ferry and a day trip to Greece. In an updated public post on Facebook earlier this week, the mum said she has now offered £10,000 in damages to be able to finally fly home, but that she is still 'no closer' to a solution and needs 'to get home to my child'. A GoFundMe page has been set up to raise funds for Georgia to pay the fine and support her with costs while staying in Turkey.
