Aggie fans react to Texas A&M's 12-6 Game 3 win over Elon after sweeping the series

Yahoo17-02-2025
No. 1 Texas A&M (3-0) finished off the 2025 season-opening series vs. Elon, sweeping the Phoenix in Game 3 12-6 after eight innings due to SEC rules for Sunday games. For first-year head coach Michael Earley, getting the season off to an undefeated start is key to evaluating the roster during the rest of nonconference play.
Leading the way at the plate, junior outfielder Jace LaViolette hit his third home run of the weekend, giving the Aggies an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first. Offensively, Texas A&M's improvement on Saturday continued on Sunday, as short-stop Kaeden Kent his third career grand slam, while catcher Jacob Galloway hit his first homer as an Aggie.
On the mound, Texas A&M's starting pitcher has been stellar outside of Justin Lamkin's shaky start on Saturday, and in his first career start with the program, Myles Patton shined, allowing four hits and one run with eight strikeouts in five innings.
Out of the Bullpen, Ty Baker struggled in his first outing, allowing three runs off three hits, while Blayne Lyne, Peyton Smith, and Brad Rudis finished the game. All in all, going 3-0 to open the season was the goal leading into the first full week of nonconference play.
After sweeping Elon, here are the best reactions from Texas A&M fans and media members after Game 3:

Former Texas A&M RHP will transfer to Louisiana at Lafayette

Texas A&M lost several pitchers to the transfer portal and the 2025 MLB Draft this offseason, including the talented RHP Kyrin Leblanc, who was expected to be a crucial part of the 2025 bullpen but never saw time on the mound and is now headed to Louisiana. No, not LSU. According to his post on X, Leblanc, after just one season with the Aggies as a transfer from Cisco College, is headed to join the University of Louisiana Lafayette, as the Ragin Cajuns have gained one of the strongest arms in the country, as Leblanc has reportedly has reached speeds of 100 mph with his fastball multiple times in his career, but has notably struggled with control. If Leblanc can reel in his power, his future is very bright, and he will finally see the mound in 2026 after being buried on the depth chart. Pitchers of his caliber are rare, and while plenty of former quarterbacks and high school pitchers can throw in the upper 90s, control is the key to playing in college, and, of course, the MLB. While Leblanc could have stayed and developed with Texas A&M, his journey was not meant to continue in College Station, and that's just the nature of the transfer portal era. Texas A&M's 2026 pitching rotation will look completely revamped, as returning relievers Weston Moss and Shane Sdao are likely to start, paired with one of the new transfer additions. Notable measurements for several Texas A&M players after the official 2025 roster release

Texas A&M's 2025 roster is now official, featuring the latest roster numbers, heights, and weights for the over 130 players, including walk-ons, who will enter fall camp next week. To some, changes in weight are just numbers with little meaning, but at certain positions, especially in the trenches, correct height/weight is meaningful for players looking to add strength and size. On the defensive line, junior defensive tackle DJ Hicks is entering his most important season as a starter, and is currently listed at 6'5" and 310 pounds, and has been in the weight room this offseason with a focus on getting stronger while maintaining enough weight to push the pocket and be a force against the run. Senior edge Cashius Howell, who is now listed at 6'4" and 255 pounds, is predicted to lead the Aggies in sacks and pressures after his impressive 2024 campaign as a rotational player. Former Iowa State DL Tyler Onyedim (6'4", 295 pounds) will be highly valuable inside due to his versatility and elite run-stopping background, next to senior DL Albert Regis, whose 6'2", 315-pound frame will be fully utilized during his final collegiate season after recording over 30 tackles and six pass deflections last season. Along the offensive line, every presumed starter, including left tackle Trey Zuhn (6'7", 320 pounds), left guard Chase Bistontis (6'6", 330 pounds), center Mark Nabou (6'4", 330 pounds), Koli Faaiu (6'3", 340 pounds), right guard Ar'maj Reed-Adams (6'5", 340 pounds), and right tackle Dametrious Crownover (6'7", 340 pounds) and Reuben Fatheree (6'8", 330 pounds), are all well above 300 pounds. However, starting quarterback Marcel Reed, officially listed as 6'2" and 185 pounds, has added strength this offseason, but is still relatively thin compared to most SEC signal callers. Still, working behind what is assumed to be the best offensive line in the SEC should keep him upright, but designed runs do pose an issue once conference play begins. Previewing the 2025 season for Texas A&M LB Scooby Williams with his player profile

As we gear up for the 2025 football season, Aggies Wire is breaking down every player on the Texas A&M roster. Throughout the preseason, each profile will highlight a player's background, recruiting rankings out of high school, and projected role under head coach Mike Elko. Scooby Williams is one of Elko's first-year transfers who contributed immediately, bringing familiarity to the defensive scheme led by Jay Bateman, who also joined from Florida. Paired with York, they provide a veteran presence on the field with solid depth behind them. Williams played much of the 2024 season with an injury, yet still managed 10 starts across 11 games. Over that span, he finished fourth on the team in tackles (43) and tackles for loss (7.5). If Williams returns fully healthy, his sideline-to-sideline range and blitzing ability from the linebacker spot give the coaching staff flexibility to disguise defensive looks. Preseason Player Profile Recruiting Rankings (Class of 2021) The former four-star prospect coming out of high school was a tweener and elite edge rusher, tallying 107 tackles, 25 tackles for loss, and 15 sacks across his sophomore and junior seasons. He played in the Mississippi State All-Star game and was selected for the Army All-American Bowl. Depth Chart Outlook Linebacker is loaded with young talent, and at some point this season, we could see a rotation next to team captain Taurean York. However, Williams is projected to start the season alongside York, and barring any surprises, he should hold down that role throughout the year.
