How Fashion Girls Are Glamping in Style This Summer
That said, if you're just getting acquainted with the outdoor lifestyle, figuring out what to pack to go camping—or even glamping—can feel a little daunting. There are so many directions you could go in terms of gear (hiking, climbing, fishing, what have you), let alone the basics. Luckily, as a former gear editor, I'm one to geek out about gadgets as much as I am about my favorite fashion, which means that I'm not only sharing the pieces that will make your experience seamless, but also the ones that exude luxury, too (I am a fashion girl, after all). So, without further ado, here's your ELLE editor-approved guide for everything you need to make your nature-filled getaway the best (and most stylish) it can be.
When it comes to the great outdoors, a lot of the experience leans on the gear you bring—and yes, that includes what you wear. While you could throw on your favorite T-shirt and shorts, having clothes designed to withstand the elements will make all the difference. Ripstop nylon and dedicated hiking socks will be your new best friends, and be sure to pack some warmer layers for when the nights cool down.
As for the fashion editor-approved twist? A paracord necklace will be a chic and playful touch. And if you're looking to record your latest AllTrails hike, a sleek smartwatch will do the job in style.
No matter what you have planned, having the right footwear is essential, which is why it gets its own section. You'll need hiking shoes to take on various terrains and recovery sandals to slip on after, but might I suggest an easy pair for those more laid-back moments? I never go camping without my Birkenstock slides, but if you want something a little sleeker, you can also opt for the Olsen Twin-approved Tevas, which will look just as good with your camping outfits as they will on the city streets.
I love designer luggage as much as the next girl, but camping calls for bags that can handle the elements. One staple that I've had in my arsenal since college is the North Face Base Camp Voyager Duffel. This thing has been through the wringer and is still going strong—make of that what you will. Of course, a dedicated option for backpacking won't hurt either, especially if you're planning a big trek. I also recommend having separate bags for your tech and toiletries, just to keep everything organized.
Personally, there's nothing I love more than car camping. Sure, backpacking has its perks—secluded areas and jaw-dropping views, to name two—but it's certainly not for the faint of heart. Car camping allows you stock more than just the bare essentials, especially if you have a roof box for extra cargo (I'm partial to these options from Thule).
Now, if you're aiming for comfort, then you deserve a proper chair. Gone are the days of sitting on a picnic blanket to snack on cold cuts! Plus, with a cooler and a stove, you can cook fresh meals daily—and it doesn't get more al fresco than that. And if this is my road trip, I'm also bringing a French press. In my humble opinion, there's nothing quite like sipping fresh coffee while you watch the sunrise.
Once you're settled in, it's time to sit back, relax, and enjoy yourself. Camping is the perfect excuse to silence those push notifications and spend quality time with Mother Nature. And let's be honest: You simply can't go camping without s'mores—especially when you have a tabletop firepit (very handy when a traditional one isn't nearby). Set the mood with string lights and your go-to summer playlist. And if you're feeling techy, a portable projector can transform your campsite into a movie theater. Cap it all off with deep, late-night conversations beneath the stars, and you're set. That's outdoor luxury at its finest.

Lola Bute and Stella Maxwell Celebrate Aquazzura and Mytheresa With a Glamorous Night in Italy
Every item on this page was chosen by an ELLE editor. We may earn commission on some of the items you choose to buy. Aquazzura and Mytheresa sure know how to serve up a Roman holiday. On Thursday, the duo teamed up for a spectacular soirée to toast Aquazzura's exclusive new capsule collection—and their long-standing partnership—in seriously cinematic style: right on the steps of Cinecittà Studios' legendary ancient Roman temple set. With delicious food, a chic crowd, and a rainbow-hued meadow made up of 300 pairs of Aquazzura shoes, the night was pure magic. 'It felt like a dream come true to make a party with Mytheresa, one of our first clients, and an incredible supporter through the years of Aquazzura, in Rome with friends and family, and on one of the most magical sets where they filmed Ben-Hur and Cleopatra,' Edgardo Osorio, founder and creative director of Aquazzura, exclusively tells ELLE. Taking inspiration from Federico Fellini's La Dolce Vita, the evening channeled the glitz and glamour of 1960s Italy. To kick off the two-part event, Osorio and Michael Kliger, CEO of Mytheresa, invited an international array of It girls, royalty, actors, and close friends. Attendees included Lola Bute, Kitty Spencer, Diane Kruger, Princess Eugenia von Hannover, Stella Maxwell, and more. The long table was a vision of romantic elegance, adorned with lush floral arrangements of jatropha, peonies, and celosia. After dinner, guests danced the night away—a scene fit for any Fellini fantasy. The following morning began with a leisurely brunch at the brand-new Aquazzura Bar, tucked inside the iconic Hotel de Russie and just a stone's throw from the historic Spanish Steps. After a night of celebration and a morning of relaxation, the glamorous Roman getaway came to a perfect close. Alexandra Hildreth is the Fashion News Editor at ELLE. I Finally Tamed My Frizzy Hair—These Hair Oils Deserve All the Credit
As someone who was blessed with dry, frizzy hair, I know the struggle of chasing the glossy, hydrated strands seen in every shampoo commercial. While hair masks can work wonders on split ends and gloss treatments offer a solid temporary solution, what if we told you there's one product that delivers both—and then some? Enter hair oil: the ultimate hair care multitasker for every hair type. Whether your locks are curly, coily, fine, color-treated, or somewhere in between, hair oils are your shortcut to silky smooth strands. 'Not only do they promote a healthier head of hair by supplying vitamins, nutrients, and antioxidants, but they also help detangle, tame frizz and flyaways, and add shine,' says celebrity hairstylist Dimitris Giannetos. The list of benefits doesn't end there. Giannetos adds that hair oils also soothe the scalp to help promote hair growth, and many modern formulas double as heat protectants, too. With numerous options lining the beauty shelves, finding the right one for your hair type can be overwhelming. Luckily, that's why we're here. I've tested top-performing products, tapped Giannetos for his go-tos, and combed through countless customer reviews to find the ones worth adding to your arsenal. So, whether you're aiming for frizz-free curls, stronger ends, or that elusive air-dried sheen, these 10 hair oils are sure to deliver. This oil is the answer to all your hair care prayers. Made for all hair types, the argan oil elixir smooths frizz and boosts shine, while conditioning, detangling, and providing heat protection. Key ingredients: Argan oil, linseed extract When to apply: Damp or dry Amazon rating: 4.7/5 An ELLE editor says: 'I've tried a lot of hair oils over the years, and I always come back to the Moroccanoil Treatment. I apply it through my mid-lengths to ends after styling, and any frizz, flyaways, or unwanted poofy texture immediately disappears. Both the impressive shine and delicious scent last all day long.'—Emma Aerin Becker, Associate Beauty E-Commerce Writer Despite feeling incredibly lightweight, the Kérastase Elixir Ultime Hair Oil delivers an insane gloss that lasts. It's also fast-absorbing for instant shine and heat protection. This uniquely formulated hair oil is ultra-hydrating, thanks to mirsalehi honey—a powerful natural humectant sourced from Gisou's own bee garden. The scent is sweet in the best way and actually sticks around, which I love. I use a few drops on damp hair and it makes everything smoother and less frizzy. This has been a staple in humid summer weather!' There's nothing worse than applying a hair oil just for your locks to feel heavy and greasy. Ouai ensures you never face this dilemma with their ultra-lightweight Hair Oil. Additionally, African galanga root extract helps protect color-treated hair from fading and color degradation. Key ingredients: Ama oil, African galanga root extract, borage oil, baobab seed oil When to apply: Wet or dry hair Amazon rating: 4.5/5 An Amazon reviewer says: 'I absolutely LOVE this product! I use it on wet hair, and when I'm done styling I put it on my ends. And let me tell you THE SHINE. It doesn't have any harsh chemicals which is nice.' The Augustinus Bader Hair Oil is like a tall glass of water for your hair. Powered by their patented TFC8 technology and packed with deeply nourishing, restorative botanicals—like baobab, argan, and pomegranate oils—the product reduces breakage, combats visible damage, and intensely hydrates. Key ingredients: Baobab oil, argan oil, vitamin E Bloomingdale's rating: 4.1/5 An ELLE editor says: 'The Hair Oil from Augustinus Bader feels just as luxurious as it looks. My favorite part is the unique dropper lid, which makes application an absolute breeze. Of course, the oil itself is also amazing—super lightweight and moisturizing without feeling heavy.'—Emma Aerin Becker 'My absolute favorite hair oil is the Pura D'or Scalp & Hair Strengthening Oil,' says Giannetos. While it works on all hair types, he highly recommends it for those with fine, weak hair or stressed hair that has been damaged by chemical processing. 'It's like a miracle in a bottle to rebuild proteins and strengthen hair starting at the root.' Key ingredients: Rosemary oil. peppermint oil, castor oil When to apply: Dry hair before washing Amazon rating: 4.5/5 An Amazon reviewer says: 'This Pura D'or Hair Strengthening Oil is great. I've been using it for over 2.5 months now, and combined with the hair growth regimen I already use, it has helped with new growth and overall strength. It's weightless and doesn't make my hair greasy. My hair is shedding less, and I have tons of baby hairs all over my head. I apply it in the morning when I wake up, let it sit for about 30 minutes while I enjoy my coffee, and then rinse it out in the shower.' As someone who constantly uses hot tools to touch up my hair, I love a hair oil with heat protectant. The Shu Uemura Essence Absolue Nourishing Protective Hair Oil not only nourishes, enhances shine, and reduces frizz, but its Japanese-sourced red camellia oil protects against heat up to 450°F. Key ingredients: Red camellia oil, vitamins A, C, E Sephora rating: 4.7/5 A Sephora reviewer says: 'I have fine, wavy hair and I use this oil everyday. Not only does it protect my hair when I do a blow out, it smoothes and hydrates my hair without leaving it oily. My hair is hydrated and silky. I have used other oils that I thought were good, but this one wins.' The way you use hair oil depends on your hair type. Giannetos confirms that it can be beneficial in any phase of your hair care routine, although different textures may benefit more from specific techniques. For thick hair, he recommends applying oil directly and using it as a treatment mask for 30 minutes to an hour before shampooing. For medium hair, apply it to wet strands for 'deep penetration' or mix it into your shampoo or conditioner. Those with thin, fine hair should be more cautious to avoid weighing strands down. 'Applying oil from mid-lengths to ends will boost moisture and shine while taming frizz and flyaways,' concludes Giannetos. In general, Giannetos says hair products with natural, plant-based ingredients and high-quality oils deliver the best results. However, it's essential to consider your hair type when selecting a hair oil. Those with fine hair should opt for lighter oils that absorb easily—like jojoba, grapeseed, and sweet almond. Medium-thick hair responds well to argan, coconut, and rosemary oils. Thick, dry hair can handle all of the above, plus richer options like olive and avocado oil. Last-Minute Shopping? These Ready-To-Pack Looks Are All on Amazon
I don't even have a trip planned, but the sheer act of writing this story gave me a buzz. That's how much I love dressing for summer vacation. I'm here to bust the myth that you have to spend a fortune to look good on your getaway. To prove a point, I did a little experiment. The objective was to find ultra stylish, ultra-Instagrammable summer vacation outfits on Amazon. And guess what? I even surprised myself. Below, take inspiration and shoppable cues from my 11 outfit ideas for days when you put on more than just a swimsuit. And if you think I didn't legitimately order several of these exact looks for myself in the process, guess again. The Bubble Skirt The charming return of bubble skirts was a shock to us all, but suddenly, I can't get enough. Now is the time to wear your favorite white pieces and all the raffia you can find. Dressed Up I know the drill: beach bum by day, five-star restaurant for dinner. It's quite literally what I look forward to all year. On those evenings when you feel like showing up and showing out, I recommend a silky dress. Resort Vibes 'Tis the season to wear a cover-up as an outfit, and call it a day. Of course, this crochet duo will look incredible over a swimsuit, but don't let that discourage you from getting creative. The best part about packing coordinating sets is that they can be styled as separates, too. That's at least three different outfits from just two items. Girl math! All Black Think you can't get away with all black in the summer? Au contraire, mon ami. While everyone's favorite color does attract the sun—and thus can become hotter than its light-hued counterparts—black can be very chic for summer, especially if you're vacationing somewhere like Paris or New York City. I'm personally obsessed with these tailored Bermuda shorts and this toe-ring sandal. Guava Girl Allegedly it's 'guava girl summer' and 'sardine girl summer'? It's hard to keep up, but here's what you need to know: The hottest trend this season is dress like you're having fun. And the best way to do that is, yes, to actually have fun with your wardrobe. Guava girls are turning to hibiscus motifs and tropical palettes, while sardine gals are opting for all things fish-shaped (obviously). I think I'm more of the former variety, so here's my take on a playful guava-inspired ensemble. Laidback Prep When temperatures are truly oppressive, minimal effort is key. You can never go wrong with a matching set, bonus points if it's linen. To elevate an otherwise simple look, try adding boat shoes, which offer a nautical touch, and statement accessories. This hat is Kendall Jenner-approved, by the way. A Halter & Kitten Heels Among ELLE's shopping team, we're collectively obsessed with halter tops for summer. I have at least four in my own rotation. And I'm very into the combo of loose jeans and kitten heels at the moment. I can't believe I didn't find this barrel style sooner—it's basically an exact replica of my favorite $100 pair for less than half the price. Lowkey Comfort First of all, an Olsen-endorsed sandal for walking? Say less. I've never ordered something so fast. For chill afternoons that don't require getting dolled up or for travel days when you want to be cozy and cute, this ensemble never misses. A flowy pull-on pant and a white tank top will always be a winning recipe. Add a light layer and beachy accessories to taste. Neutral Glam Not to be dramatic, but I'm pretty sure I would die for this Simon Miller bag. It's the only purse I want to use this summer. For the understated icon, this outfit is all about clean girl energy. Freshly washed hair in a slick bun, sun-kissed skin, and a spritz with a me there now. (And P.S., anklets are so in.) Polka Dots By now you're probably heard that patterns are having a moment this summer—gingham, polka dots, and stripes, namely. I love them all equally, but this darling dress was too cute to ignore, so we'll stick with spots this time. With a little cardi wrapped around your shoulder in case it gets chilly? Très magnifique. Denim Shorts I have to show some love to my casual girls, too. After all, not every vacation is sun, sea, and sand. For the urban explorer or mountain mama, summerify your everyday go-tos by adding pops of color. Besides, no suitcase feels complete without a pair of jean shorts.
