Mahir Pandhi: I've been rejected for positive roles because of my coloured eyes
Mahir Pandhi Although Mahir Pandhi has explored a range of characters in recent years, his early days in the industry were marked by typecasting. Currently seen in Siddharth Kumar Tewary's Veer Hanuman – Bolo Bajrang Bali Ki Jai, the actor reveals that his distinct features, particularly his green eyes, led to repeated rejections for positive roles early on. He recalls, 'When I first came to Mumbai, people would take one look at my eyes and face and say I should be cast as a terrorist or criminal. I've been offered selective types of roles, mostly negative — the toxic guy, the one running a prostitution racket, or other shady characters. I've almost always been rejected for the hero's role because of how I look. Choti Sarrdaarni was a rare exception, and I'm thankful the makers saw me differently.' Determined to break the mould, Mahir actively sought out roles that would challenge him and push the boundaries. He says, 'As you grow in the industry, you begin to crave characters that push you creatively. The real concern isn't just being typecast, but the fear of being boxed in and denied the chance to explore diverse roles. Thankfully, I've crossed that phase. When I look at something like Jee Karda, in which I played a gay character and had intimate scenes with both genders, I feel proud of the choices I've made. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like These Are The Most Beautiful Women In The World Undo From the entirely negative role in Vanshaj to doing a rom-com for the Thai industry, I've been trying to expand my range.' He also touches upon the limited creative agency actors often have on set. 'Unless you're a big name, you're expected to simply follow the script. The moment you express a point of view, the label 'difficult' or 'attitude problem' is thrown around. That's why I've become very selective about the projects I take on and the teams I associate with,' he concludes.

BTS' V says he ‘passed out after drinks' reveals post-military restlessness; steps out in style the next morning
BTS' V is in Paris for Men's Fashion Week. The K-pop idol was signed on as the global ambassador of the Italian luxury, Celine in 2023, just ahead of his military enlistment. Now, Taehyung is back on the cobbled streets, welcomed with a grand party thrown for him and actor Park Bo Gum, who also represents the brand. Earlier, a video went viral on social media showing the singer partying in a club, surrounded by staff and friends, dunking champagne with sparklers in hand. Later that night, he jumped on an impromptu Weverse live to greet fans, only to drop a heartbreaking update about his post-military sleep struggles. Also read: BTS' V and Park Bo Gum spotted partying in Paris in viral video ahead of Fashion Week Return: 'Brand knows how to pamper them' If there's one thing fans remember from all the BTS variety shows, it's that Taehyung was the one member who used to sleep like a rock, but not anymore. He kicked off the Weverse live and gave fans a quick update about the party last night, saying, 'I had drinks with friends and then we passed out,' but added that he was wide awake again in no time. 'Actually, I used to be able to sleep deeply, but now even a little bit of noise will make me wide awake. I don't know if it's because I served in the military, but at the slightest sound, I just can't sleep anymore,' V said, still looking half-asleep and clearly struggling as a swarm of fans tuned in to comfort and cheer him on. #V Taehyung: 'I used to be able to sleep really well, now.. maybe it's bcs i came from military survive, even the slightest noise wakes me up. Earlier someone came to clean up for a bit in the hotel & bcs of that i totally woke up. I was trying to sleep+ — VinterBear⟭⟬ᵇᵗˢ ʸᵉᵃʳ💜⁷ (@shadowlike_v) July 5, 2025 He continued, 'I woke up earlier than expected… Usually, I can sleep really well, but I think this has happened ever since I returned from the military. I wake up at the slightest sound… earlier, someone just dropped by to clean, and I woke up at the sound of it.' Taehyung was live for around 9 minutes and had a little conversation with fans. At one point, he even said that since there were so many English comments on the screen, he felt sleepy again and asked if someone could translate them into Korean. Fans joked, 'Let's flood with more English comments so he falls asleep again.' He then signed off after greeting fans in different languages. 🐻: I see so many English (comments) that it makes me feel sleepy again 🐻 : Is there no Korean translation? Does weverse have Korean translation? Kim Taehyung representing all international fans. Though he never directly said the harsh training took a toll, fans have since picked up on his hesitation whenever the topic of military service comes up. Earlier, V, who served in one of the fiercest units, the SDT for counter-terrorism, also shared that out of habit, he now wakes up early in the morning around 6:30 for a military roll call. Taehyung is set to headline the CELINE Printemps 2026 fashion show on July 6. Hours after the live call, the K-pop star was seen walking out of his hotel dressed in a navy blue and red striped knit polo paired with blue denims, and was greeted by a huge number of fans who had gathered outside the hotel to catch a glimpse. He then stopped at a Parisian bistro for a meal with Peter Utz, CELINE's Couture & Events Director. Later, he was seen checking out the jewellery pieces through the glass window before heading back to the hotel and then making an outfit change by evening, wearing a navy top tucked into gray trousers and a silk scarf.

Family and football unite to bid Diogo Jota farewell
Gondomar: Liverpool and Portugal forward Diogo Jota and his brother were laid to rest on Saturday in their hometown, just days after the pair died in a car crash that shocked the football world. Jota, 28, and Andre Silva, 25, were killed on Thursday after their vehicle veered off a motorway in northwestern Spain and became engulfed in flames, a week after the Portugal forward had got married. Just hours before the accident, Jota had posted a video of his June 22 wedding to partner Rute Cardoso, with whom he shared three children. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Bank Owned Properties For Sale In Cideng (Prices May Surprise You) Foreclosed Homes | Search ads Search Now Undo Football stars joined family and friends at the funeral in his hometown of Gondomar, near Porto and conducted by the bishop of Porto. A number of teammates from the national side, including Bernardo Silva, Bruno Fernandes, Danilo Pereira and Joao Felix, as well as coach Roberto Martinez attended, though national skipper Cristiano Ronaldo was not present. Live Events Liverpool Virgil van Dijk bore a garlanded wreath of red flowers in the form of a Liverpool shirt bearing Jota's number 20. Friday evening had seen Van Dijk, several players including Liverpool's Uruguay international Darwin Nunez and Liverpool coach Arne Slot meet with Jota's family and attend a wake for the deceased brothers. Among those who came to offer their condolences were a childhood friend, Portuguese President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, Prime Minister Luis Montenegro, Jota's agent Jorge Mendes and Porto club president Andre Villas-Boas. Jota formerly played with Porto. "Football is truly in mourning. Diogo was an icon of the talent Portuguese football represents," said football federation chief Pedro Proenca. Close family and friends including the parents paid their respects at Friday's wake first, with the grandfather aided by two others to help him enter the chapel. Friday night, British rock band Oasis played their song "Live Forever" in tribute to Jota at a concert in Cardiff marking a return to touring after 16 years. 'Rest in peace' Mourners arrived carrying wreaths of flowers, some sobbing audibly, before the wake was opened to members of the public. The death of the Portugal international and his brother has triggered an outpouring of emotion in football, and beyond. Liverpool opened a book of condolences and lowered flags to half-mast, with dozens of supporters laying a sea of flowers, balloons, Jota shirts, and scarves with the message "Rest in peace Diogo Jota", outside Anfield. At the Diogo Jota football academy, close to Gondomar SC where the ex-Porto and Atletico Madrid player took his first steps in the game, well-wishers created a memorial with flowers, scarves, candles and shirts. "Thank you, Diogo Jota," read a child's handwritten message. Pedro Neves, who was friends with Jota at school in Gondomar, said he "will remember him as someone who was very friendly, very courteous, who loved everyone, who always had a smile on his face". "He left us too young, it's not fair. But that's how life is sometimes," Neves, 31, told AFP. Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, who brought Jota to the Reds in 2020, has said he was "heartbroken" while the club spoke of an "unimaginable loss". Slot, who succeeded Klopp last year at Anfield, said everyone associated with the club owed it to Jota to "stand together and be there for one another". Jota was remembered at the Club World Cup in the United States on Friday, with a one-minute silence held at the quarter-final between Brazil's Fluminense and Saudi Arabia's Al Hilal in Orlando. A minute's silence was similarly held at women's Euro 25 matches. Portuguese and UK media reported Jota was driving to the northern Spanish port of Santander to take a ferry to England where Liverpool were due to start training on Friday, avoiding a flight on medical advice after a recent lung operation. Liverpool's Egyptian striker Mohamed Salah said the death of his teammate had left him "frightened" to return to the club as the Premier League champions postponed the return of some players for pre-season training. bur-tsc/mdm/nr-cw/yad
