Dodgers Not Expected to Make $275 Million Decision Because of Max Muncy
Over the past few months, rumors have suggested that the Los Angeles Dodgers are interested in trading for Nolan Arenado of the St. Louis Cardinals.

The Cardinals are in a better position than they were a few months ago heading into the season, as they now look for an opportunity to make the postseason.
However, the reality is that if they had an opportunity to trade someone like Arenado to the Dodgers, and Los Angeles were willing to pay the rest of his deal, it's almost all but certain that they'd move on from him.
Despite that, according to a recent report from Jim Bowden of The Athletic, it remains unlikely that the Dodgers would do so. He added that Arenado isn't precisely what Los Angeles is looking for, and that the front office and coaching staff love what Max Muncy has done after a slow start.

"The Dodgers say no because they're not taking on Arenado's contract at this point in his career and they're happy with Max Muncy, who is on the injured list but expected to return from his bone bruise well before the end of the regular season,' he wrote.

Muncy is dealing with a tough injury after being taken out by a slide during Clayton Kershaw's 3,000 strikeout game, but he's expected to return sometime over the next two months.
If he comes back and continues to swing the bat at the level he did before, there wouldn't be much of a reason to explore an Arenado trade.
A firm decision made on Mucy is a promising sign for the Dodgers as they head into the trade deadline.

In the quick video, you can see him work on his handle and finish through contact. While Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Jalen Williams received all the flowers for being 20-plus point scorers, Holmgren is not too far behind. Only injuries have limited his ascension. If he can have a healthy fourth season, he can show why those who doubted his contract extension were foolish to do so.

BALTIMORE (AP) — Tomoyuki Sugano pitched six innings of four-hit ball, Tyler O'Neill homered in a third straight game and the Baltimore Orioles beat the Colorado Rockies 5-1 on Sunday. Dylan Carlson drove in two runs for the Orioles, who followed Saturday night's 18-0 blowout with a more conventional victory in the deciding matchup of a three-game series between last-place clubs. Sugano (8-5) gave up one run, walked two and matched his career high with eight strikeouts. The 35-year-old righty, who signed a one-year contract with Baltimore in December, could be headed to a contender before Friday's trade deadline. Although he was impressive on Sunday, Sugano has yielded 21 homers in 20 games and had a 7.88 ERA over his previous seven starts. BOSTON (AP) — Alex Bregman hit a go-ahead, two-run homer in the fifth inning and Boston hung on to beat Los Angeles for a series win. NATIONALS 7, TWINS 2 MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — CJ Abrams hit a leadoff homer, stole three bases and scored three runs as Washington beat Minnesota. Nationals starter Jake Irvin (8-5), a Twin Cities native pitching at Target Field for the first time, gave up two runs on five hits over seven innings. Josh Bell went 3 for 4 with an RBI. Matt Wallner homered and Harrison Bader had two hits for Minnesota, which has lost six of nine since the All-Star break. Daylen Lile tripled and scored on Paul DeJong's sacrifice fly in the fourth to put the Nationals on top 3-2. Washington broke it open with four runs in the fifth off Travis Adams (1-1), keyed by Alex Call's two-run single.
