Caitlin Clark doesn't want a minutes restriction, and Fever want 'long-term health'
So, when the Fever host the Los Angeles Sparks at 7 p.m. Saturday at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, Clark will miss her fifth straight game with a left groin injury. Clark didn't practice at full speed Friday, though she did semi-live shooting workouts and 3-on-3 drills.
The thought was, White said, Clark would be evaluated Saturday morning to see if she was fit to play later that night. However, the Fever listed Clark as out on the injury report Friday evening. The Fever (9-8) have won three straight games for the first time all season, notably winning the Commissioner's Cup against the Minnesota Lynx on Tuesday and then Thursday holding the Las Vegas Aces to their fewest points since 2015.
'She's stated she's not a fan of minute restrictions,' White said after practice Friday. 'If there is going to be a minutes restriction, maybe we'll hold her another game. I prioritize her long-term health and wellness and making sure that when she comes back, she's 100%.'
Kelsey Mitchell has been particularly sharp with Clark out. Mitchell is averaging 25.8 points over her last four games, and after shooting 41.3% in her first nine games this season, she's shot 52.3% from the field since.
The Fever will need that to continue as the Sparks are the second visitor in a five-game homestand. Indiana will hit the road for two before hosting the WNBA All-Star Game on July 19.
The Fever have not had forward Damiris Dantas due to Brazilian National Team obligations for the FIBA Women's Americup. Dantas was reportedly injured in the first half of Friday's game against Mexico but, as reported by Roberta F. Rodrigues, Dantas started the third quarter and a Brazilian federation official said there's nothing serious with her ankle.
Dantas was expected to miss the Fever's game Saturday as one of four while away. The 6-foot-4 center in 13 Fever games averaged 5 points and 2.8 rebounds in 12 minutes per game off the bench.

Reds ace Hunter Greene reports tightness in his groin and won't start his rehab assignment yet
Associated Press CINCINNATI (AP) — The Cincinnati Reds have delayed the start of a rehabilitation assignment for ace Hunter Greene due to tightness in his strained right groin. Manager Terry Francona said Monday before the Reds began a three-game series against Miami that Greene would undergo another MRI exam 'out of an abundance of caution.' Greene had been scheduled to pitch for Triple-A Louisville on Tuesday, but that was put on hold after the discomfort arose following a bullpen session on Sunday. The right-hander, who's on his second injured list stint because of the muscle strain, told reporters he was feeling strong before the setback but will take his status 'day by day.' After the injury first popped up during a start on May 7, Greene returned after the minimum 15-day stay on the IL and made three starts before being pulled early from the last one on June 3. The Reds were aiming to have Greene back right after the All-Star break, but the timetable for his return is now less clear. Greene, who was the second overall pick in the 2017 draft, was well on his way before the injury to a second straight All-Star Game selection by posting a 2.72 ERA with 73 strikeouts in 59 2/3 innings over 11 starts. ___ AP MLB: recommended in this topic

Fever-Wings 'sequel' relocated to 20,000-seat arena as Caitlin Clark, Paige Bueckers set to face each other
Caitlin Clark's presence on the Indiana Fever led to opposing teams changing venues to a larger seating capacity to host thousands more fans than usual for games. But this year's first-round pick, Dallas Wings All-Star guard Paige Bueckers, makes the draw even bigger on Aug. 1 when these teams are set to face off in Dallas. The American Airlines Center, home to the NBA's Dallas Mavericks and the NHL's Dallas Stars, will be the site for Fever-Wings on that date as it's expected to fit around 20,000 spectators. The Wings' usual home court is found at the College Park Center in Arlington, which fits just 7,000 fans. This matchup is dubbed "The Sequel," as these two teams played in a sold-out American Airlines Center on June 27. It was a high-scoring bout, where the Fever came away with the victory on the road, 94-86. Clark, who was dealing with an injury, didn't play in the game, but Bueckers led her team with 27 points and six assists in the loss. For Indiana, Kelsey Mitchell exploded for 32 points, seven assists and three rebounds, while Alyiah Boston added 21 points, six rebounds and three assists in the win. Clark's status now remains uncertain, as she's missed the last five contests with a groin injury. She also dealt with a left quad strain earlier this season, which also led to five missed games. Clark has played just nine games this year, averaging 18.2 points, five rebounds and 8.9 assists per game. The Fever have been able to keep strong during her absences, owning a 9-9 overall record, which puts them third in the Eastern Conference. Meanwhile, the Wings didn't get the resurgence they thought would come by adding Bueckers and others this offseason. They own the worst record in the Western Conference at 6-13 on the year. But Bueckers has been showing out in her rookie season, averaging 18.7 points, 4.3 rebounds and 5.7 assists, as she earned what should be the first of many All-Star nods. Report: Former Fever forward DeWanna Bonner to sign with Mercury, reunite with fiancée
INDIANAPOLIS – Former Indiana Fever forward DeWanna Bonner will sign with the Phoenix Mercury in the next few days, according to a report from ESPN's Michael Voepel. Bonner, a 16-year WNBA veteran, was one of the Fever's marquee signings in the offseason, following coach Stephanie White from Connecticut to Indianapolis. But Bonner felt like she wasn't a fit with Indiana's style from the beginning, and eventually requested a trade from the Fever early into the season. Bonner was away from the Fever for five games while Indiana's front office tried work out options, but they couldn't find a suitable trade because of the size of Bonner's contract (a near-max $200,000). As Bonner was on an unprotected contract, Indiana could release her without a buyout or monetary penalty. Indiana waived Bonner on June 25 and signed guard Aari McDonald. Bonner played nine games for Indiana, averaging 7.1 points and 3.8 rebounds in 21 minutes per game. 'I want to sincerely thank the Indiana Fever for the opportunity to be part of the Fever franchise," Bonner said in a release when she was waived. "Despite our shared goals and excitement heading into the season, I felt the fit did not work out and I appreciate the organization's willingness to grant my request to move on, particularly at this point in my career. I wish the Fever great success as they continue to build around this dynamic group of young players.' Bonner hit the waiver wire for 48 hours, but was not picked up by any team, likely because of the size of her contract. Now, she is reportedly headed back to Phoenix, where she was drafted in 2009. Bonner won two championships and was a three-time Sixth Player of the Year with the Mercury in 10 seasons. Phoenix is also where her fiancée, Alyssa Thomas, plays. Bonner and Thomas played together in Connecticut for five years before Thomas was traded to Phoenix and Bonner opted to sign with Indiana. Phoenix, which already has 12 players on its roster, will have to release a player to accommodate Bonner. The Mercury should have the cap room, assuming Bonner signs for the veteran minimum.
