Talking about his weight loss journey, and how the internet criticised and ridiculed him when he had gained weight, Fardeen revealed, 'I was 102-103 at my heaviest. Not muscle. Good old body fat…as of last week, I am 78-79 now. Some 25 kilos off.'
The actor revealed that losing all that weight wasn't just about transforming. He wanted to reclaim his health because he was at an age where he didn't feel like himself at all.

During the interview, Fardeen also opened up about his sobriety and giving up alcohol during the pandemic lockdown. The actor said, 'I was sober in the early 2020s. That's when I kicked the habit full on during the COVID-19 lockdown. I stopped in one go.'
He revealed that the reason was that his drinking problem had come to a point where it was interfering with his life. 'I needed to stop. I sought professional help to stop. It is probably the best decision I have made in my life. I started drinking very young,' the Housefull 5 actor said.
The 51-year-old actor revealed that after quitting, it was the first time that his 'brain fog kind of cleared'. 'I was feeling bloody 60 years old. Now, when you wake up, you feel clean, sober…I quit overnight, but coming to terms with your new life was a tough journey,' he told Cyrus Broacha.
Per the actor, quitting alcohol was a voluntary decision as he wasn't getting anything out of it anymore; he wasn't getting any enjoyment, and he wasn't happy with who he was as a person.
Reflecting on his sobriety, the actor added that the whole point of being sober is actually relaxing and being comfortable with yourself, and that took quite a few years of work. 'I have never been happier,' he added in the end.

Diljit Dosanjh Performs With Local Orchestra In Old Clip; Video Emerges Amid Hania Aamir Row
Last Updated: Diljit Dosanjh, now globally recognised, began his career with devotional songs. Amid controversy over his film Sardaar Ji 3, an old performance video has resurfaced. Diljit Dosanjh, now a globally recognised face, started his music career by performing devotional songs. He steadily kick-started his musical journey by releasing albums and gaining popularity through live performances with local orchestras. And before he knew, Diljit had already become a popular name in Punjab. Currently, the Hass Hass singer is at the centre of controversies for starring in Sardaar Ji 3, a film which also stars Pakistani actor Hania Aamir. Amid this, an old video of the singer-actor performing in front of a local audience has resurfaced on the web. Diljit Dosanjh's video dates back to Hambran Mela in 2004, where the singer performed with similar zeal in front of a live audience with a local orchestra group. His fans dug up his throwback stage video that was recorded way before he became a sensation. Take a look: (Source: Jassi TV/Youtube) Diljit's video has resurfaced amid the growing controversy on the release of Sardaar Ji 3 outside of India, including Pakistan. The nation's tension with the country reignited after innocent tourists were killed by Pakistani terrorists at Pahalgam. India has also banned the Instagram accounts of Pakistani artists, and an informal ban has been imposed on their participation in Indian content. Amid this, Diljit romancing Hania in his recent film, which was shot way before things turned sour between the two countries, infuriated the masses. Taking to Reddit, a user wrote, 'I wonder why people goes to his shows". 'Log to bhai Diljit ki peeche h padh gaye yaar," wrote a fan of the singer. A third user backed him and commented, 'The hate for the diljit is unreal. Like you should have appreciated that from this struggling time he has gone to the cochella. He actually has seen struggle compare to the another story with fabricated lies of rags to riches. He is just a scapegoat and people like to hate because he is on top and their favourite is not." Diljit Dosanjh's response to Sardaarji 3 controversy Diljit Dosanjh recently broke his silence on the controversy and Hania Aamir's casting in the film that was done months before the Pahalgam attack in April. Speaking to BBC Asian Network, the singer said that the project was completed before any of the current political tensions surfaced. 'Jab yeh film bani thi tab situation sab theek tha. We shot this in Feb and then everything was fine. Uske baad, bhut saari badi cheezen humare haath mein nahi hai. Toh producers ne decide kiya ki film obviously ab India toh nahi lagegi, toh overseas release karte hain. Toh producers ka bahut paisa laga hua hai aur jab yeh film bann rahi thi tab aisa kuch tha nahi," he said, adding that the makers are aware they will incur losses. 'Now the situation is not in our hands. So if the producers want to release it abroad, I support them." Meanwhile, prominent film bodies have been writing to the makers of Border 2, Diljit Dosanjh's upcoming project, to have him removed. An official confirmation from the makers is awaited. Mohit Suri says music is 'screenplay' for him: 'I won't shoot a single day till I have all my songs ready'
Filmmaker Mohit Suri is returning to the romance genre with his upcoming film, Saiyaara. The film stars a new lead pair in Ahaan Pandey and Aneet Padda. But to Mohit, the musical aspect is just as important as the cast. Tanishk Bagchi has composed the film's music, and all four released songs are trending on YouTube. In a candid chat with HT ahead of the film's release, the filmmaker talks about the significance of music and the film. Mohit Suri opens up on his upcoming film, Saiyaara. In a career that has spanned two decades, Mohit has made films in various genres, but music has been at the heart of all of them. He explains, "I have never actually made films without music, whether it's a thriller like Murder 2, a drama like Aashiqui 2, or an action film like Awarapan. Even a slasher like Ek Villain has music." However, Mohit adds that, contrary to what everyone believes, he is not well-versed in music. "Everyone assumes I am good with music, but I am not. I only know love songs. Maybe I am good at it. I want to make films that have music that stays relevant today and tomorrow. I use songs as a screenplay, not as something that needs to be added as garnish," he tells us. On Saiyaara Unlike many other directors, Mohit does not believe in adding songs and music as an afterthought. "Many record their songs after the shoot is finished. But that doesn't work for me," he says, adding, "I will not shoot a single day until I have all my songs ready. That's just something I need, especially on a film like Saiyaara." Saiyaara is a romance, and Mohit adds that in a love story, good music is 'as important as chemistry between the leads'. He explains, "The music holds the audience and adds to the emotion. That is important." Produced by Akshaye Widhani under the Yash Raj Films banner, Saiyaara is set to release in theatres on 18 July.

‘Don't care if I am trolled'—BJP leader stands with Diljit Dosanjh as FWICE demands his ouster
Ever since the film's trailer dropped on 22 June, Dosanjh has faced relentless criticism for acting alongside Hania. The trailer has since been removed from YouTube in India, and both the All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) and the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) have spoken out against him, calling for a boycott of the film. FWICE went a step further, writing to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and demanding that Dosanjh's citizenship be revoked. '.@diljitdosanjh is not just a celebrated artist—he's a national asset and a global ambassador of Indian culture. FWICE's call to revoke his Indian citizenship over an inadvertent and pre-incident film shoot is not only unfair but shockingly disproportionate,' the senior BJP leader wrote on X. New Delhi: Amid backlash against Diljit Dosanjh's upcoming Punjabi film Sardaar Ji 3 , which features Pakistani actor Hania Aamir, BJP national spokesperson RP Singh has come out in support of the singer-actor. Singh criticised the calls to suspend Dosanjh's Indian citizenship. .@diljitdosanjh is not just a celebrated artist—he's a national asset and a global ambassador of Indian culture. Singh, however, contends that this is a mere 'publicity stunt' by FWICE. 'Who has given the right to some organisation to ask for his citizenship [to be revoked]? Boycott his film, do not show [it] on any OTT [platform], and if he speaks [anything] anti-India, do criticise him. But the citizenship bit is taking it too far,' Singh told ThePrint. 'Do not care if I am trolled' Singh's post has attracted strong reactions online, but the BJP leader is unbothered. 'I don't need a certificate of nationalism or patriotism from anyone. The way Dosanjh presents himself, he is a humble soul, and he represents India wherever he goes. As long as he wears a turban, he is Indian, and we must remember that,' Singh said. In his X post, Singh also questioned whether there would be similar outrage over Indian cricketers playing against Pakistan in Dubai a month before the Pahalgam terror attack, or against TV anchors who host Pakistani panellists on debate shows. 'This is ridiculous. And I do not care if I am trolled. My views are clear,' he added. Dosanjh recently completed a successful concert tour with Dil-Illuminati and made international headlines with his Met Gala debut in May this year. He paid tribute to his Punjabi roots with an ensemble that nodded to Maharaja Bhupinder Singh, the erstwhile ruler of the princely state of Patiala. Meanwhile, FWICE remains firm in its stance. 'We do not want a citizen like him. He thinks he is God. Sardaar Ji 1 and 2 didn't do well. In this film, [Hania] Aamir has been cast so that everyone talks about it. Since he doesn't want to replace her, we will make sure he is replaced, not just from Border 2 and other films, but [from] our country too,' FWICE president BN Tiwari told ThePrint. FWICE's warning to Dosanjh Dosanjh has yet to issue an official statement addressing the widespread criticism. But in an interview with BBC Asia, he explained the decision to go ahead with the film's release. 'When the film was being made, the situation was OK. After that, there's been a lot of things…that are not in our hands,' said Dosanjh. Sardaar Ji 3 will not be released in India while it was released overseas, including in Pakistan, on 27 June. Early reports say the film's initial screenings in the neighbouring country have been 'houseful'. Meanwhile, FWICE has written a letter to Bhushan Kumar of T-Series, which is backing Border 2. The letter called the decision to retain Dosanjh in the cast a 'blatant violation' of its directive to boycott him. 'By choosing to collaborate with an artist who has so brazenly ignored the ongoing tensions and national sentiment, your production has directly undermined the stand taken by the Indian film industry in solidarity with the nation,' read the open letter, dated 24 June. Border 2 is the sequel to JP Dutta's cult classic war film Border (1997), set during the India-Pakistan war of 1971. Dosanjh plays a key role in the film. 'We have written to the National Defence Academy and [Defence Minister] Rajnath Singh about not giving permission to Border 2 for shooting. Dosanjh is challenging the entire country. It is a matter of national security,' said Tiwari. FWICE has not yet received a response from either the government or the makers of Border 2. The film workers' union also issued a letter to Dosanjh on 26 June. 'As an Indian, your first responsibility is towards your country. You have failed in that regard, and your professional choices have made it abundantly clear that the nation's interest is not your priority,' the letter states. It goes on to inform Dosanjh of the punitive measures being initiated. 'FWICE hereby issues a Non-Cooperation Directive against you with immediate effect. All associations affiliated with FWICE and their members are instructed not to cooperate with you on any current or future projects until such time as you publicly disassociate from the said collaboration and issue an unconditional apology to the Indian film fraternity and the citizens of India,' it further warns.
