He was speaking at a blood donation camp at KGMU on Monday, organised to mark his birthday on July 1. The camp was organised by members of the Maurya, Shakya, Kushwaha, and Saini communities, where 107 youth and party workers donated blood. Akhilesh praised the volunteers and called the event a true example of socialism and public service.
Targeting the state govt, the former CM said, "Health services in Uttar Pradesh are in the ICU.
Hospitals are in poor shape, and facilities exist only on paper. The poor are left to fend for themselves." He added that the medical infrastructure built during the SP govt is now being neglected.
Praising KGMU, Yadav said the institution is among the most respected globally, with its doctors serving worldwide. "If the SP returns to power, we'll invest every possible resource to build world-class institutions and ensure the poor get proper treatment," he said.
He also criticised the BJP-led govt over the state of business and industry, calling the situation an "economic emergency."
He said that a major UP-based infrastructure firm was being sold, warning that privatisation is harming employment and economic growth. "If businesses thrive, jobs will grow, and the economy will strengthen," he said.
On environmental issues, he alleged that the BJP failed to clean rivers despite large budgets. "They didn't clean rivers—they cleaned out the funds," he said, promising to beautify the Gomti riverfront and install a statue of freedom fighter Virangana Devi Paswan if the SP returns to power.
He thanked the PDA (pichda, dalit, alpsankhyak) workers for organising the camp, urging that his birthday be celebrated as a day of service and social commitment.

'Dragged out of his office, brutally kicked': Naveen Patnaik slams BJP over Odisha official's assault

Former Odisha Chief Minister and BJD president Naveen Patnaik on Monday lashed out at the Mohan Charan Majhi-led BJP government over the assault of a senior municipal officer in Bhubaneswar, calling the incident 'shocking' and demanding immediate action against those involved — including political figures allegedly linked to the attack. 'I am utterly shocked seeing this video. Today, Shri Ratnakar Sahoo , OAS Additional Commissioner, BMC, a senior officer of the rank of Additional Secretary was dragged from his office and brutally kicked and assaulted in front of a BJP Corporator, allegedly linked to a defeated BJP MLA Candidate,' Patnaik posted on X, along with footage of the incident. The officer, Ratnakar Sahoo, was reportedly hearing public grievances at the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation office when he was allegedly attacked in full public view. The BJD has held the BJP responsible for the incident and staged protests demanding swift action. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like War Thunder - Register now for free and play against over 75 Million real Players War Thunder Play Now Undo 'Political leaders who orchestrated and conspired must face action': Patnaik Patnaik criticised the law and order situation under the BJP government, asking whether citizens could feel safe if senior officers were being assaulted in their own offices. Live Events 'What is more appalling is that this happened in broad daylight, in the heart of the capital city to a senior officer while he was in his office, hearing grievances of people,' he said. 'If a senior officer is not safe in his own office, then what law and order will ordinary citizens expect from the Government.' — Naveen_Odisha (@Naveen_Odisha) The former chief minister urged Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi to act decisively. 'I ask @MohanMOdisha Ji to take immediate and exemplary action against not only those who purported but more importantly the political leaders who orchestrated and conspired this shameful attack. The people named by the officer in his FIR have behaved like criminals.' He also referenced a previous case involving an assault on an officer by the ex-Governor's son, warning against a repeat of such impunity. 'I only hope that Shri Majhi directs immediate action to be taken to restore faith in his government and not allow this heinous act to go unpunished like the assault on an officer by the ex-Governor's son. The people of Odisha will not forgive this,' he said. Reacting to the incident, DCP Headquarters Prakash Chandra Pal told news agency ANI: 'All those involved will be arrested... Two teams have been formed and are investigating.' BJD MLA Arun Kumar Sahoo also condemned the attack and accused the BJP of fostering a deteriorating law and order situation. 'A senior OAS Officer has been beaten brutally by the BJP miscreants at the behest of some senior leaders... If such things happen at the state secretariat, this means there is no law and order situation in the state... The conspirators must be arrested,' he said.

'Resigned from party, not ideology: Telangana minister T Raja Singh quits after 3 terms; slams backroom ‘coterie'

Telangana BJP faces internal turmoil as Goshamahal MLA T Raja Singh resigns, protesting N Ramchander Rao's appointment as state unit chief. Singh, a Hindutva leader, alleges he was prevented from contesting for the president's post. HYDERABAD: In a dramatic escalation of internal dissent within the Telangana BJP, Goshamahal MLA T Raja Singh submitted his resignation to the party on Monday, protesting the appointment of N Ramchander Rao as new state unit chief. He submitted a strongly worded two-page letter, addressed to outgoing president and Union coal minister G Kishan Reddy. Considered the party's Hindutva posterboy in Telangana, Singh was never afraid to court controversy. Though he did not submit a formal resignation to the speaker of the assembly, Singh urged Kishan Reddy to notify speaker G Prasad Kumar about his resignation. "I was threatened by the party not to file my nomination for the state chief post," he told reporters earlier in the day. "I have made enemies out of terrorists for the party's sake, but now the time has come to step away," he claimed. Singh arrived at the BJP state office with his supporters, intending to file his nomination for the party president's post, only to be met with pressure and resistance, according to his own account. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 2 BHKs starts at ₹ 72.6 Lakh | No Floor rise | Zero PLC Mahindra Happinest Tathawade Get Quote Undo His resignation was later handed over at the office, despite last-minute efforts by Union minister of state for home and Karimnagar MP Bandi Sanjay to placate him. Sources said Singh's letter will be forwarded to BJP national president JP Nadda. Frustrated with choice of those handed leadership: Raja Singh Though Raja Singh 's exit seemed sudden, insiders suggest it was long brewing. Since being elected for a third consecutive term in 2023, Singh had distanced himself from the party's core activities and grown increasingly vocal in his criticism of senior leaders, especially Kishan Reddy, whom he accused of being soft on the ruling Congress in Telangana. He did not hold back in his resignation letter either. 'This decision has come as a shock and disappointment, not just to me, but to lakhs of karyakartas, leaders, and voters who have stood by the BJP through every high and low,' Singh wrote. Singh also warned that the leadership change could undo years of grassroots mobilisation and 'push the party into avoidable setbacks.' He said, 'We had the best opportunity in years to bring the BJP to power in Telangana. But that hope is now giving way to frustration and disillusionment—not because of the people, but because of those being handed the reins of leadership.' His most pointed criticism was aimed at what he called a 'coterie of leaders running the show from behind the curtain,' who he alleged have 'misled the central leadership' for personal gain. 'Many capable MLAs, MPs, and senior leaders have worked tirelessly for the party's growth, only to be sidelined in crucial decisions,' he said in his letter. Even as the BJP formally transitions to new leadership, party insiders say it may take time before the implications of Singh's resignation and related concerns are formally addressed. As per anti-defection laws, if the party president forwards an MLA's resignation to the speaker, the speaker is empowered to take swift action and may declare the seat vacant, effectively ending the legislator's tenure in the assembly. Singh ended his letter by affirming his unwavering commitment to Hindutva. 'I may have resigned from the party, but not from the ideology,' he declared.
