108 Kg Marijuana, Smuggled In Inverter Cases, Recovered From Noida
The gang was smuggling the drugs from Odisha by hiding them inside empty inverter shells and transporting them via train, officials said.
Shakti Mohan Avasthy, DCP Central Noida said, "Nearly 108 kg of marijuana has been seized. Their modus operandi was to hide around 6 kg of marijuana in each of 18 inverter bodies."
In their post on X, UP Police took a dig at smugglers, acknowledging their "plan was clever, but the law was smarter."
"Inverters are for power, not poison…. But the smugglers thought otherwise," they wrote.

The accused have been identified as Abdullah and Sovan from Muzaffarnagar, and Shabaan and Sameer Hasan from Mehmoodnagar. The police stated that Abdullah never went to school, Sovan studied until Class 5 and Shabaan and Sameer Hasan until Class 8.
All four accused used to work as manual labourers to earn their livelihood. They told police during questioning that the plan for drug smuggling was hatched during a late-night drinking session when they got in touch with Ayush, a man based in Odisha, who allegedly runs a drug network.
Ayush, who orchestrated the entire operation, was connected to them via WhatsApp. He arranged the plan to supply marijuana and helped conceal the drugs inside the inverter body.
They would take out the inverter shells at railway stations with no or minimal security checks, according to a report. After that, they would transport it to a secure location in Noida and from there, the drugs were distributed among local dealers, who further sold them to hostel and college students across Noida.
The investigation to catch the kingpin of the racket is underway.

Delhi man claims he was stabbed and robbed of Rs 13 lakh, arrested for cover-up
A robbery case that initially appeared to be a brazen daylight heist took an unexpected turn when the Delhi Police discovered that it was a meticulously staged act, allegedly orchestrated by the complainant himself. The accused and his associate were arrested, and the entire stolen amount of Rs 13 lakh was recovered, the police said on Friday. The incident was reported on Thursday when a call was received about a robbery involving a substantial sum of money, the police said. The complainant, Subhash Chand, 22, who works as an accountant at a trading company, claimed that he had withdrawn Rs 13 lakh from a bank and was subsequently robbed on a flyover by six unidentified men on three motorcycles. He alleged that the assailants stabbed him and fled with the cash. 'During the investigation, CCTV cameras were analysed, but no suspicious bikes were seen chasing the inquiry revealed that the complainant's injuries appeared superficial and inconsistent with being caused by a knife. Upon sustained interrogation, Chand broke down and confessed to the crime,' Sukant S Ballabh, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, West, said. Chand allegedly admitted that he had planned the staged robbery with his friend Vijaypal, 26. According to the police, Chand, who has been employed at the trading company for two years, was reportedly under immense financial pressure after losing Rs 30 lakh in gambling. In a desperate bid to recover his losses and repay the borrowed stake money, he allegedly concocted the plan to embezzle Rs 13 lakh from the company and cover it up as a robbery. According to his alleged confession, Chand withdrew the cash from the bank and handed it over to Vijaypal at Rajouri Garden Metro Station. Vijaypal then escaped using a Rapido bike service, reached Dhaula Kuan, and took a bus to his native village, the police said.

Red sanders smuggler convicted for 5 years
Tirupati: RSS (Red Sanders Special) ADJ court on Friday awarded a smuggler five years imprisonment for smuggling red sanders logs. The court also ordered a penalty of Rs 6 lakhs. According to prosecution, the smugglers caught by the RSASTF(Red Sanders Anti-Smugging Task force) when they were smuggling red sanders logs in the forest area of Chamala range of Nagapatla beat, and was arrested under Cr No 23/2019. The smuggler Vellian was prosecuted in the ADJ court. The Judge Narasimha Murthy upheld the prosecution and sentenced the smuggler for 5 years imprisonment and Rs 6 lakhs penalty. Following the conviction, the smuggler was handed over to the authorities of Nellore Central prison.
