Jerry Jones risks more outrage from Cowboys stars after brutal take on Micah Parsons' trade request
The Cowboys' top defensive star, 26, had been locked in a tense standoff with the franchise throughout the offseason as they continued to fail to reach an agreement over a new contract extension.
And with no deal in sight heading into the second week of training camp, the pass rusher has officially attempted to force his way out of Jerry Jones's team.
Parsons announced that he had formally submitted a trade request in a bombshell statement on social media Friday afternoon, saying: 'I no longer want to be here.'
Reports later emerged that a number of Cowboys stars had turned on owner Jones in the wake of Parsons' contract demand but it appears their owner is unbothered.
Speaking publicly about the matter for the first time on Saturday afternoon, Jones told reporters: 'I would say to our fans, don't lose any sleep over this.'

NFL star Deebo Samuel left fuming after interviewer spills secret live on air in painful exchange
Commanders star Deebo Samuel was left shaking his head in disbelief after NFL Network's Mike Garafolo accidentally revealed the wide receiver is battling a hand injury - live on air. Garafolo was left red-faced at the end of an interview with Samuel during a segment on 'Inside Training Camp Live' earlier this week. 'Alright, edit that part out, just strike that... that didn't happen,' the reporter said after his on-air blunder drew glares from the wide receiver. Samuel joined NFL Network to discuss 'good vibes' around the Washington Commanders heading into the 2025 season. But the interview instead ended with a painfully awkward exchange. 'Usually, I'll give a handshake when a guy leaves but I tried to shake your hand on the way up,' Garafolo began. Very awkward interaction between Deebo Samuel and NFL Network at the end of their interview after Saturday's practice. @JPFinlayNBCS @nflnetwork — Steronimo Gilton (@viceroy_14) August 2, 2025 The wide receiver joined the Commanders earlier this year after five seasons with the 49ers '(But) you said "No, no, no. I got a little jam in my finger today..." Though Samuel remained silent, only staring at the interviewer, Garafolo's co-host did his best to stop the NFL Network reporter digging himself a deeper hole. 'Woah, woah,' he said. 'Uh oh...' That caught the attention of Garafolo, who responded: 'Oh was I not supposed to say that? Alright, edit that part out, just strike that. that didn't happen.' Samuel shook his head before the host offered his fist for the receiver to bump. 'I ain't getting anything now,' Garafolo said as the network cut away from the interview. 'This is ridiculous,' someone could then be heard saying. Samuel was traded to the Commanders back in March after six seasons with the San Francisco 49ers.

White Sox face Angels, pursue second season sweep
August 3 - Having already clinched their fourth series win out of five sets since the All-Star break, the resurgent Chicago White Sox will try to close their second series sweep of the season when they meet the sputtering Los Angeles Angels on Sunday afternoon in Anaheim, Calif. Chicago, which won just seven of its first 30 games to start the season, didn't manage one series sweep in the first half. But the White Sox changed that coming out of the All-Star break with a three-game sweep of the Pirates in Pittsburgh, part of a season-best four-game winning streak. Chicago, 10-4 since the break, can match that winning streak with a victory Sunday over Los Angeles, which has gone just 6-9 during that span and has lost three games in a row. Sean Burke (4-8, 4.17 ERA), who allowed three hits over six shutout innings in a 8-1 victory over the Angels on Opening Day in Chicago, will oppose fellow right-hander Jack Kochanowicz (3-9, 5.75) in the series finale. That March 27 start was Burke's lone career game against Los Angeles. Kochanowicz is 0-0 with a 1.35 ERA in three career starts against the White Sox. He will look to snap an 11-start winless streak dating to a 6-2 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers on May 16. Chicago hit four home runs in a 6-3 victory in Friday's series opener and followed with a 1-0 win Saturday as Aaron Civale, Brandon Eisert and Jordan Leasure combined to throw a one-hitter. The Angels fell to 5 1/2 games behind the Seattle Mariners for the final wild-card spot in the American League. Civale continued his dominance since the All-Star break by allowing just a fourth-inning infield single on a dribbler up the third base line to Zach Neto. Civale pitched 6 1/3 innings, walking one and striking out a season-high eight batters. "He made my job really easy," said catcher Kyle Teel, who drove in the only run of the game with a second-inning single. "I could have been blindfolded. He was hitting the spot every time." Civale has made three starts since the All-Star break and has allowed just one unearned run and seven hits over 17 1/3 innings while striking out 20. His ERA has dropped from 5.30 to 3.99 during that time. "Just total control," Chicago manager Will Venable said. "Got a lot of swings and misses on the curve ball. Fastball was good, and (also) the cutter. He was just in total control. Just the one infield hit. He did a great job. Just outstanding." The Angels had hoped to make up ground in the playoff race with a 13-game homestand following a 2-4 on a road trip to Philadelphia and New York against the Mets right after the All-Star break. But on Saturday, they fell to 4-5 on the homestand that will finish with three games against Tampa Bay starting Monday. "Give Civale some of the credit," Angels interim manager Ray Montgomery said after the shutout loss. "Obviously, he's pretty good, he knows what he's doing, he's been doing it for a long time. ... Tough night. Got to turn the page. Obviously, the offense wasn't there tonight." Outfielder/DH Mike Trout missed his second straight game with an illness for the Angels while infielder Miguel Vargas, penciled in to bat cleanup for the White Sox, was a late scratch with a left oblique strain. "Taking swings pregame, just felt a little something in his side," Venable said. "Will continue to get it evaluated but likely an IL (injured list stint) for him." --Field Level Media

Pirates' Mitch Keller looks for run support; Rockies seek elusive home sweep
August 3 - Mitch Keller's name frequently popped up in trade rumors ahead of the deadline on Thursday, but the veteran right-hander stayed with the Pittsburgh Pirates. Now, Keller (4-10, 3.69 ERA) can focus on the rest of the season, starting Sunday afternoon when he takes the mound in the series finale against the Colorado Rockies in Denver. Rookie right-hander Bradley Blalock (1-2, 7.09) will start for Colorado, which has a chance to sweep its first home series of the year. The Rockies might be without Seth Halvorsen for the rest of the season after the right-handed closer left Saturday's game in the ninth with an injury to his pitching elbow. Interim manager Warren Schaeffer didn't have a definitive update but sounded discouraged. "It don't look good," Schaeffer said. While Keller's record isn't flashy, he has pitched better than his record indicates in his 22 starts this season. He has a 3.02 ERA over his past nine outings and has won his past three decisions after losing 10 straight from April 4-June 21. In those games, the Pirates scored more than two runs just once. He struggled in his most recent start, tossing 73 pitches in just two innings against the San Francisco Giants on Monday in a game the Rockies won 6-5. He will face Colorado for fifth time in his career -- and fourth start -- and holds a 2-1 record and 0.39 ERA in those appearances. His lone loss came in Denver on July 16, 2022, when he allowed an unearned run in a 2-0 Colorado victory. He will try to salvage the final game of the series for the Pirates, who dropped their second straight, 8-5, on Saturday despite having Paul Skenes on the mound. Pittsburgh entered the weekend on a five-game winning streak but couldn't hold a significant lead Friday night. The Pirates scored nine runs in the first inning and led 15-6 after they batted in the top of the fifth and then fell 17-16 following the Rockies' four-run fifth inning and five-run ninth. "Our pitching has been so good all year long," Pittsburgh manager Don Kelly said. "When you look at the foundation they've set from the starters to the bullpen, and the way we've gone about it, I definitely think Friday was a blip. Some guys may be pitching here for the first time, too." Blalock is coming off his first quality start of the season and best outing of the year. He threw six shutout innings at Cleveland on Monday but was denied a win when the Rockies couldn't hold his 3-0 lead before defeating the Guardians 8-6. The bottom fell out for Blalock on May 10 when he gave up 12 runs in 3 2/3 innings in a 21-0 loss to the San Diego Padres, and he was optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque the next day. He was recalled July 7 and is 1-0 with a 1.59 ERA in three starts since his return. "You've seen it the last three starts he's had," Schaeffer said after Blalock's start in Cleveland. "You can see confidence building." Blalock, who hasn't faced Pittsburgh in his brief career, said he gained that confidence after a conversation with Rockies minor league pitching coordinator Scott Oberg. Since his recall, Blalock has walked just one batter in the 17 innings. "Scott came to me and was like, 'Stop trying to throw the ball to the corners. You've got a lot more plate to live with,'" Blalock said of his talk with Oberg. --Field Level Media
