Coronation Street fans demand ITV bosses bring back soap icon after 13 years

Yahooa day ago
Is there a Coronation Street actor or actress you wish would return to the ITV soap?
You might even have a storyline in mind that you think would be perfect for them, if they were to come back to the cobbles.
Just some of the most recent Corrie departures include Julie Carp (Katy Cavanagh-Jupe) and Craig Tinker (Colson Smith) – both Weatherfield residents sadly died within weeks of each other.
But over on the popular soap's Reddit thread, fans are demanding Corrie bosses bring back one ITV star – Amber Kalirai.
Most recognised as the daughter of Corrie icon Dev Alahan and his shop worker Ravinder Kalirai (following an affair), Amber (played by Nikki Patel) first appeared on our TV screens in 2005.
Before leaving the street for good in 2012, she was later known for her rebellious attitude after being kicked out of university due to failing her exams.
However, 13 years since her last appearance, viewers have called for the return of one of their 'favourite characters' as she could 'make things a bit interesting'.
It comes as this profile posted on the subreddit r/coronationstreet: 'Bring back Amber, Dev's daughter, please Kate Brooks.
'I am currently watching classic coronation street episodes. Nikki Patel as Amber is so funny, especially with the back and forth banter with her dad.
'A naturally funny northern actress is what Corrie needs. She must be in her mid 30s now.'
An account responded: 'Thought about her a few months ago too.
'She was a bit of a troublemaker, could make things a bit interesting especially with Adi [Aadi] leaving, it could add a bit more storyline options for Dev's family which is barely a thing anymore on the show.'
Someone even said she could be brought back to take over the corner shop now that Aadi Alahan was exiting the programme.

Back in April, Adam Hussain, who has played the role of Aadi for five years, confirmed he would be departing Corrie.
One fan responded: 'Thought Amber was great when she was first introduced and had an odd friendship with Norris.
"But then when she came back she was quite annoying. So it depends which Amber we'd be getting!'
Another said they also 'loved the banter' she had with Norris.
This person commented: 'YES! One of my favourite characters.

'I also want to see Bev (Shelly's mother) return sometime.'
Others said they would like to see Amber return as a 'young woman' following her teenage years on the ITV soap, but would like the character to have 'the same sense of humour'.
This fan also shared: 'Brilliant character I agree.'

AC/DC's Album Becomes A Bestseller For The First Time In A Decade

AC/DC's Iron Man 2 soundtrack returns to the Official Album Downloads chart at No. 97 after more ... More than a decade, while also climbing back into the U.K. Soundtrack Albums top 10. INDIO, CALIFORNIA - OCTOBER 07: (EDITORIAL USE ONLY) (L-R) Stevie Young, Brian Johnson, Angus Young, and Cliff Williams of AC/DC perform onstage during the Power Trip music festival at Empire Polo Club on October 07, 2023 in Indio, California. (Photo byfor Power Trip) AC/DC is a fixture on charts in a number of countries, and not just on those focused on rock and metal. The Australian outfit can appear on rankings with both hit songs and successful albums, which is a feat reserved for only the most popular names from decades past. This week in the United Kingdom, AC/DC scores a pair of successful albums, with one notable release returning for the first time in over a decade. AC/DC's Iron Man 2 Soundtrack Returns Iron Man 2, which is credited to AC/DC, since it essentially functions as a greatest hits compilation of the band's work, returns to the Official Album Downloads chart. The project barely manages to reappear on the U.K. ranking, coming in at No. 97, and the list only features 100 spaces. Iron Man 2 Hasn't Charted in Over a Decade Iron Man 2 has only spent about half a dozen frames somewhere on the Official Album Downloads chart, and it hasn't been found on the list for more than a decade. The last time the title ranked as one of the most downloaded collections in the U.K. was back in December 2014. The project arrived on the non-genre-specific roster in December 2012, when it opened and peaked at No. 43. Iron Man 2 Returns to the Top 10 Iron Man 2 is also on the rise on another tally, one where it can almost always be found. AC/DC jumps back into the top 10 on the Official Soundtrack Albums chart, pushing from No. 11 to No. 7 after 774 frames somewhere on the list. AC/DC's Multiple Hit Singles AC/DC scores four hit songs in the U.K. this week, three of which are featured on Iron Man 2. "Thunderstruck" lives on three lists, while "Back in Black" and "Highway to Hell" only appear on the Official Rock & Metal Singles chart. "You Shook Me All Night Long" is another one of the band's most familiar tracks, and it's also present on that genre-specific roster, though it wasn't included on the Marvel blockbuster's accompanying album.

BBC Radio 2 DJ Sara Cox reveals she tracks her children when they're apart

BBC Radio 2's Sara Cox has revealed she tracks her children using Apple's Find My Friends feature when they're apart. The 50-year-old broadcaster shares three teenage children, Renee, Lola and Isaac with her husband Ben Cyzer and has a daughter with her ex-husband, DJ Jon Carter, who she separated from in 2006. Speaking to Jessie and Lennie Ware on their Table Manners podcast, Cox said: 'I just do the usual Apple one. You can see where the kids are.' Apple released Find My Friends, which allows users to share their location with specific people and locate those who share their location with them using GPS and Wi-Fi in 2011. The app is most commonly used as a safety precaution and in 2017 aided a man to be rescued after he became stuck on a mountain. However, Cox admitted she was glad her own mother wasn't able to track her when she was young. 'My mum would have been like 'Why is Sara on her way to Blackpool,' the presenter, who grew up in Bolton, said. 'I went to Blackpool when I really wasn't supposed to be,' she said. 'I'd get a lift with some random lads in their XR2s [Ford Fiesta cars].' Some parents take tracking their children a step further, with Mike and Zara Tindall keeping tabs using Apple's £35 AirTag tracking device. In 2021, Apple launched AirTags to help iPhone users track the exact location of a lost item, such as luggage and keys. The small, circular device can be tracked from Apple's Find My app. The Independent's Charlotte Cripps weighed in on the child-tracking debate, saying she wanted to AirTag her children until they were 18. 'Is it teaching children to feel unsafe in the world and infringing on their privacy? Not in my case. 'My children feel protected knowing I'm keeping a close eye on them, and they are not at an age where they can go out without adult truth is, I'd prefer to be safe than sorry,' she wrote. 'I know I can't control what happens to my children when I'm not there– but at least there's great comfort in knowing exactly where they are.'

Muse Reaches The Top 10 For The First Time In A Decade

Muse's "Unraveling" debuts at No. 9 on the Official Singles Downloads chart, marking the band's ... More first top 10 hit on the ranking in 15 years and signaling a new era. UNSPECIFIED - JANUARY 01: Photo of Chris WOLSTENHOLME and MUSE and Dominic HOWARD and Matt BELLAMY; L-R: Dominic Howard, Matt Bellamy, Chris Wolstenholme - posed, group shot (Photo by Mick Hutson/Redferns) After several years of relative quiet, it looks like Muse is preparing the world for a brand new album. The English rock band, which has ranked as one of the biggest in the country for well over a decade, dropped a new single titled "Unraveling" in mid-June, and unsurprisingly, it has become a quick hit on a number of charts in the United Kingdom. The tune even helps the group score its first new top 10 smash on one sales ranking in 15 years as it arrives. "Unraveling" Debuts Inside the Top 10 "Unraveling" opens at No. 9 on the Official Singles Downloads chart, which ranks the top-performing individual tracks on platforms like iTunes and other digital download storefronts. Muse has only scored a trio of appearances within that loftiest space throughout the years, and it has been quite a long time since the band pushed a track into the region. Muse's First New Top 10 in More Than 15 Years "Unraveling" marks Muse's first new top 10 on the Official Singles Downloads chart since 2009. In September of that year, "Uprising" debuted at No. 9, in the same position where "Unraveling" begins. The group earned its first placement on the downloads tally and its debut top 10 with "Apocalypse Please," which only spent a single frame on that list at No. 10. "Unraveling" Earns a Lofty Debut Muse also sees "Unraveling" kick off its time on the Official Rock & Metal Singles chart at No. 9. On that list, the superstar musicians have seen 23 of the 40 songs that have reached that genre-specific ranking enter the top 10 for at least one week. The group even doubles up on the tally, as "Supermassive Black Hole," one of its most famous releases, sits at No. 24, 676 frames into its tenure on the list. "Unraveling" Misses the Top 10 on the Main Sales Chart "Unraveling" just misses out on the top 10 on the Official Singles Sales chart, as it enters at No. 12. It also reaches the main ranking, the most closely watched list of the most consumed songs throughout the U.K., the Official Singles chart, but it does not approach the top 10. Instead, Muse has to settle for No. 85 as a fairly low starting point for the first single from what may be an upcoming new album.
