MoS Tamta calls for innovation-led road planning to boost economic growth
He called for a paradigm shift from reactive construction to proactive, innovation-led planning, where road projects are no longer isolated engineering exercises, but integrated, multi-sectoral development tools.

MoS Tamta interacted with faculty and innovators from IIT Delhi and SPA Delhi, and the Minister stressed that these innovations not only improve safety but also tackle chronic issues in road projects such as land acquisition challenges, urban traffic congestion, poor last-mile connectivity, and cost overruns.
The Minister emphasised the need to indigenise design models, rather than replicating from the West. India's unique geography, climate, behavioural patterns, and population density demand customised solutions, including integrated safety zones, mobility hubs, and mixed-use road corridors.
The event showcased not only road safety solutions but also pioneering technologies, advanced planning frameworks, and low-cost, high-impact designs that can transform the way roads are conceived and constructed in India.
The minister also reviewed multi-directional free traffic models, hotspot-based safety designs, and door-to-door mobility systems for low-cost, high-efficiency public transit using a no-app-no-URL ( PiFi - Private Internet Fidelity) based transport system suitable for rapid urban transportation.
MoS Tamta advocated a governance model where physical plans are invited and evaluated transparently before DPR formulation, allowing a clear pathway to implementation.
He reiterated that innovation must be the cornerstone of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways' future planning strategy and highlighted the role of Centres of Excellence (CoEs) as incubators for such cross-disciplinary ideas.
He applauded IIT Delhi and SPA Delhi for leading this movement and called upon other academic and industry institutions to join in this mission of nation-building through intelligent infrastructure.

Microcap stocks soars 15% today; zooms 140% from February low
Eimco Elecon (India) share price Shares of Eimco Elecon (India) hit an over eight-month high of ₹3,001.10, as they soared 15 per cent on the BSE in Friday's intra-day trade. The stock price of this microcap company was trading at its highest level since October 17, 2024. The company, engaged in the business of manufacturing of equipment for the mining and construction sector, has zoomed 140 per cent from its 52-week low of ₹1,250 touched on February 19, 2025. Eimco Elecon has a total 5.76 million outstanding shares as on March 31, 2025. The promoters held 73.64 per cent holding in the company, data shows. The company's market capitalisation stood at around Rs 1,700 crore. Eimco Elecon - Future outlook The long-term fundamentals of industry remain solid. Despite the increasing thrust on development of renewable energy sources, coal will continue to remain the bedrock for India's energy matrix for the time being, given its domestic availability as an efficient fuel. Chhattisgarh govt to install over 5000 mobile towers; focus on Surguja, Bastar regions
Raipur: The Chhattisgarh government plans to install more than 5,000 mobile towers , particularly in tribal dominated Surguja and Bastar regions, in a phased manner within a defined timeline, officials said on Thursday. Officials informed this during a high-level review meeting of the state's Electronics and Information Technology Department at Mantralaya Mahanadi Bhawan chaired by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai. CM Sai directed officials to accelerate installation of mobile towers and fibre optic networks, particularly in remote and underserved regions such as Bastar and Surguja, an official statement said. He reaffirmed the state's commitment to digital transformation , calling electronics and information technology a key pillar in the vision of 'Viksit Chhattisgarh 2047', aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Viksit Bharat 2047' roadmap, it added. "In order to ensure governance that is efficient, transparent and accessible, it is essential to strengthen digital infrastructure across the state. Under e-District 2.0, the government will expand its current 85 online services and cover 250 more offline services soon under it, enabling citizens to access key schemes and facilities from home," the CM said. The CM also directed officials to upgrade the State Data Centre to Tier-III standards for enhanced digital reliability. Officials informed in the meeting that a target of installing over 5,000 mobile towers has been set and it will be achieved in a phased manner within a defined timeline, the release said. In the meeting, Sai inquired about the progress of major projects like Atal Monitoring Portal, Niyad Nellnar and LWE (Left Wing Extremism) Saturation Dashboard, BharatNet Phase-2, Chhattisgarh State Data Center (CGSDC), Aadhar Enrollment In-House Model, e-District 2.0, CG Swan, e-Procurement and Capacity Building. The department's principal secretary Niharika Barik highlighted key digital milestones, including the long-pending data centre upgrade tender, now finalized after four years. The release said Barik noted the successful rollout of the Khanij 2.0 portal, Wi-Fi Ministry Scheme, and the e-District Portal. Additionally, the BharatNet Phase-2 proposal has been submitted to the Centre, and an Atal Monitoring Portal has been developed to track KPIs of 100 schemes across 19 departments, it said.
