Is there a cold war brewing between LeBron James and Drake?
Back in 2018, after joining Drake on stage at a concert in Los Angeles, the basketball player reflected on his friendship with Drake. He said the two became friends in 2007 and had gotten close each and every year. Drake wore Bronny James' AAU jersey in a 2019 music video and brought both LeBron and Bronny out on the It's All A Blur tour in 2023.
Everyone remembers the public beef between Drake and Kendrick Lamar, though. It eventually led to the latter winning several Grammy awards and a memorable Super Bowl halftime show, in which Drake was referenced.
This was an especially interesting time for athletes who maintained friendships with both of the rappers, though. That includes basketball players like LeBron as well as Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant.
Curry and Durant have remained relatively quiet on the drama but LeBron has seemingly drawn party lines.
April 2024: LeBron was originally somewhat neutral
At first, it seemed like LeBron (who has long clamored for as much music as possible from Kendrick) was just excited to hear from both of these musicians.
First, he tweeted an owl (a reference to Drake's OVO) and several fire emojis:
At this point, only "First Person Shooter" (by Drake featuring J. Cole) and "Like That" (from Future, Metro Boomin and Kendrick Lamar) were out.
At that point, LeBron tweeted something likely about the beginnings of the beef.
He said there was nothing like watching two "heavyweights" do what they do best.
May 2024: LeBron referenced by Kendrick Lamar
It didn't take long, however, until LeBron was actually brought into the middle of it all. Shortly after Drake dropped the "Push Ups" and "Taylor Made Freestyle" tracks in April, Kendrick responded with "Europhia" and "6:16 in LA" at the end of the month.
Drake then put out "Family Matters" and "Buried Alive Interlude, Pt. 2" in the beginning of May.
While it was overshadowed by "Not Like Us" due to its massive success, Kendrick dropped "Meet the Grahams" on the same night.
On that song, fans heard a direct reference to LeBron and Curry. Here is what Kendrick advised:
"Ayy, LeBron, keep the family away, hey, Curry, keep the family away
To anybody that embody the love for their kids, keep the family away
They lookin' at you too if you standin' by him, keep the family away"
That isn't exactly a subtle message from Kendrick.
He suggests that anyone who loves their children should not affiliate with Drake.

June 2024: LeBron attends The Pop Out
The following month, once everything was released for the public, Kendrick celebrated the new songs at The Pop Out concert in Inglewood.
Several NBA players, including a dancing Russell Westbrook, attended the show at The Forum.
LeBron was seen vibing in the crowd, which probably didn't make his old friend Drake feel very good.
From a public perspective, this was probably the most notable moment in whatever beef is brewing. But who knows what is happening behind the scenes?

January 2025: Drake freestyle and lots of messy unsourced gossip
At the beginning of the year, Drake's "Fighting Irish Freestyle" was likely a reference to LeBron considering the basketball player played high school ball for the St. Vincent-St. Mary Fighting Irish in Ohio.
As noted by Genius: "The track is filled with subtle references to their shared history."
That same month, there were also some allegations via leaked (potentially fake) direct messages about LeBron from Drake to designer Chris Blake Griffith.
DJ Akademiks also made some claims around this same time, but we should take those with a grain of salt.
There probably isn't much to see here, but it's still an interesting wrinkle in the story considering what happened next.
February 2025: Drake changes the lyrics to an old song
Back in February, the rapper changed the lyrics while performing one of his 2018 songs from the Scorpion album.
The lyrics to "Nonstop" originally included a reference to James but the new version made sure to clarify that the reference is NOT actually about him anymore.
He has done this at other concerts whenever he chooses this song, too.
July 2025: Drake changes body art and LeBron responds
Earlier this month, per ESPN, Drake covered his LeBron tattoo with a new one dedicated to Oklahoma City Thunder star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.
Gilgeous-Alexander, like Drake, is also Canadian.
It didn't take long for LeBron to have his own retaliation, though.
A few days later, LeBron was seen singing "Not Like Us" with several other important figures (including Jeff Bezos):
LeBron also appeared alongside longtime Drake rival Pusha T in a new Tyler, The Creator music video.
So while neither party has directly addressed the conflict, there is plenty of reason to think there is something going on between these two former friends.

How Sixteen Candles ' Jami Gertz Became the Richest Woman in Hollywood
Originally appeared on E! Online Few can hold a candle to Jami Gertz's evolution."I get it," the Sixteen Candles alum told The Hollywood Reporter in 2018. "It's not your everyday Hollywood actress tale."It's a tale that saw Gertz transition from an '80s film and television star to the owner of an NBA team she purchased with her billionaire husband Tony actress was discovered at age 16 when she attended a talent search and landed a role on the early '80s sitcom Square Pegs costarring Sarah Jessica Parker."I was found at a search, thrown right in, that was it," the 59-year-old recalled on a 2024 episode of Resilience with Richard Cabral, "and I never looked back. It was an usual path."Unusual, but lucrative. "When I was 16, I made more money than my dad," she continued. "That changes the dynamic. That changes a lot of things in your life." More from E! And her personal life did too when she crossed paths with Ressler in Gertz recalled to The Hollywood Reporter, the two were introduced through her publicist and hung out at a dinner party at Ressler's L.A. apartment. And while the businessman didn't know Gertz from her roles, he did know that he wanted to get to spend more time with her."Everyone thinks I married a rich guy," Gertz continued. "But I made more money—way more money—than Tony when I met him. I paid for our first house. I paid for our first vacation. I married him because I fell in love with him." They wed in 1989 and continued to make power moves throughout the '90s and early 2000s. For Gertz, this included starring in movies like Jersey Girl, Twister and Gilda Radner: It's Always Something as well as TV shows like Sibs, Still Standing and Ally McBeal—earning an Emmy nomination for her guest role in the latter. As for Ressler, he cofounded Apollo Management in 1990 before launching Ares Management seven years later. Forbes' latest estimates place his net worth around $13.8 these weren't their only new ventures. The couple also entered parenthood—they're mom and dad to sons Oliver, Nicholas and Theo—and Gertz opened her own production company Lime Orchard Productions in 2007. Though the company achieved success through the release of its movie A Better Life—a film that earned Demián Bichir an Oscar nomination in 2012—Gertz has admitted it wasn't a profitable business. Fast-forward to 2015 and Gertz and Ressler entered a new arena—literally—by becoming the owners of the NBA team the Atlanta Hawks, a purchase that, per The Hollywood Reporter, cost $720 million."I was walking in and out of the closet,' Gertz recalled to the publication, noting the space was where Ressler negotiated the deal. "And he looked at me, and I looked at him, and he's like, 'Jami, are we going to do this?' I'm like, 'I don't know. I'm so scared.' And he's like, 'It would be so much fun!' And then we were jumping and screaming, 'Oh my God — we just bought a basketball team!'"While her role as team owner has kept her plenty busy, Gertz has still made time for acting—though her most recent roles including parts in 2017's Difficult People and 2022's I Want You Back. However, she seems content living a more private life.'It just seemed like a natural moment for me to take a break from acting,' Gertz told The Hollywood Reporter. 'It's hard to even say it out loud because I love what I do. It's given me so many beautiful things in my life, taught me so many things about myself and the world around me.'To see more child stars then and now, keep reading. Source: ‘LeBron James Will Never Play For The Clippers' Despite Viral Workout Clip
Source: 'LeBron James Will Never Play For The Clippers' Despite Viral Workout Clip originally appeared on Fadeaway World. LeBron James has always drawn headlines, but his most recent workout location had fans spiraling into full-blown conspiracy mode. When the Lakers star was spotted training at the former Clippers facility in Playa Vista, whispers of a potential cross-town move started gaining steam, especially amid growing rumors of friction between James and the Lakers' front office. But according to a new report from Dallas Hoops Journal, the truth isn't nearly as dramatic because James has long made it clear he'll never play for L.A.'s secondary basketball team. 'LeBron was working out at a Klutch Sports Group office,' an NBA source told Dallas Hoops Journal. 'Klutch uses the Clippers' old facility in Playa Vista. This is a non-story. People need to stop reading into everything LeBron does. Plus, LeBron will never play for the Clippers. He has said that many times to people in his circle.' As LeBron James enters the final year of his contract, speculation has hit an all-time high. So when the fans saw him working out at a Clippers facility, they naturally assumed it was a hint at his next NBA destination. In reality, it was just a routine workout and photoshoot at a Klutch facility (which used to be a Clippers practice gym). LeBron James is very particular about where he plays, and he won't just suit up for any team. In 2018, he signed with the Lakers to both enhance his legacy and expand his empire to the world of business and media. As one of the NBA's most famous teams and one of its most popular, the Lakers have a certain level of appeal that has kept LeBron loyal for the past seven years. As he's enjoyed the Los Angeles lifestyle, the Lakers have done their part to ensure they remain competitive with him on the roster. While Luka Doncic's arrival has complicated things, the Clippers would never be an option for LeBron at this stage of his career, despite their best efforts to insert themselves in trade rumors. Despite being a contender, with LeBron's former coach, Tyronn Lue, running the show, the Clippers have a reputation for coming up short in the most essential moments. To date, the franchise has never made a Finals appearance, and even with a stacked roster of stars and veterans, they've only made it past the second round once (in 2021) in the Kawhi Leonard era. Besides a lack of success, the Clippers are dragged down by living in the Lakers' shadow. While the Clippers were 12th in fan attendance last season, they're not afforded the same degree of respect or coverage as their intercity rivals. For now, LeBron remains fully committed to the purple and gold. While his long-term future is still uncertain, one thing appears set in stone—he won't be swapping jerseys for the Clippers anytime soon. This latest rumor may have captured social media's attention, but in reality, it's just another chapter in the ongoing saga of LeBron James: global icon, elite athlete, and the NBA's most over-analyzed story was originally reported by Fadeaway World on Aug 1, 2025, where it first appeared.
