Diogo Jota's Liverpool teammates gather for footballer's funeral
The father-of-three, who married his long-term partner Rute Cardoso 11 days before the accident, died alongside his brother, Andre Silva, after a Lamborghini they were travelling in burst into flames following a suspected tyre blowout in the early hours of Thursday morning.
Jota's family arrived at Igreja Matriz de Gondomar church in the town of Gondomar near Porto this morning, followed by Reds manager Arne Slot, captain Virgil Van Dijk and team-mates including Andy Robertson, Conor Bradley, Ryan Gravenberch, Cody Gakpo, Curtis Jones, Darwin Nunez and Joe Gomez.
Also at the funeral for the Portuguese international were his national team-mates Bruno Fernandes, of Manchester United; Ruben Dias and Bernardo Silva, of Manchester City; Joao Felix and Renato Veiga of Chelsea; Nelson Semedo from Wolves; Joao Moutinho, Rui Patricio and Ruben Neves.
Former Liverpool player Fabinho, Porto FC president Andre Villas-Boas and Portugal national team manager Roberto Martinez also attended.
The coffins of Diogo Jota and Andre Silva are brought into the Igreja Matriz de Gondomar.

Family and friends gathered for the brothers' wake on Friday, with a queue forming outside the Portuguese chapel.

The brothers' parents attended the Sao Cosme Chapel, the Capela da Ressurreicao, in Gondomar, with Portuguese President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, Prime Minister Luis Montenegro and Jota's agent also there.
People held service sheets featuring pictures of both brothers, the largest one showing Jota smiling in his Liverpool FC shirt and making a heart sign with his hands.
Tributes have been paid across the sporting world to Diogo Jota after Thursday's fatal crash.

Liverpool Football Club postponed the return of their players for pre-season following Jota's death and players past and present paid tribute to him and his brother on social media.
A sea of floral tributes had been left outside Anfield, with many Liverpool fans and supporters of other clubs looking to pay their respects.
Flags have been lowered to half-mast at the stadium and all club stores, museums and tours have been closed until Monday, with staff offered wellbeing support.
Jota and Silva were found dead after the car crashed on the A-52 in Palacios de Sanabria near the city of Zamora at 12.40am on Thursday.
olice said they were investigating the possibility that the Lamborghini left the road because of a tyre blowout while overtaking, and a source from the government sub-delegation in Zamora confirmed 'a possible speeding incident' was being looked at.
Pictures of the aftermath of the crash showed debris scattered along the side of the road including what appeared to be charred parts of the vehicle.
No other vehicles are said to have been involved in the incident.

How Liverpool squad and football world bid farewell to team-mate Diogo Jota
The Liverpool squad were united in their grief as they said farewell to team-mate Diogo Jota at the forward's funeral in Portugal on Saturday. A service for the 28-year-old father-of-three, who married his long-term partner Rute Cardoso almost a fortnight ago, and his brother Andre Silva was held at the Igreja Matriz de Gondomar church in their hometown of Gondomar, near Porto, following their deaths in a car crash on Thursday. Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk and Andy Robertson each carried a floral tribute in the shape of a red shirt bearing the respective numbers of the two brothers. Head coach Arne Slot and the majority of the squad were present, as were Michael Edwards – the man who signed Jota from Wolves in 2020 when he was sporting director and is now chief executive of football for owners Fenway Sports Group – current sporting director Richard Hughes and head of physiotherapy Lee Nobes, who would have spent many hours with the player during his injury lay-offs. A wake was held on Friday for the pair before the coffins were carried into church on Saturday morning followed by mourners, led by Jota's wife and family. After the service, which was broadcast to hundreds standing outside, they were taken to the cemetery next to the church for a private ceremony. A seventh-day mass will be held on Wednesday. Jota's national team manager Roberto Martinez, who was also in attendance, said: 'They are really sad days, as you can imagine, but today we have shown we are a very large but close family. 'It was essential for us that, [with] Andre Silva and Diogo Jota, we are together and we will always be together and their spirit will be with us forever. 'Thank you very much for your messages, for your support and everything that we have received [from] all over the world. It means a lot and, today, we are all one football family.' Roy Keane and Ian Wright attend funeral of Celtic legend
Roy Keane and Ian Wright were among those who paid their respects at the funeral of Celtic legend John Clark. Mourners gathered in Glasgow on Friday to commemorate Clark, who passed away last week at the age of 84. The former defender made over 300 appearances for Celtic and claimed 15 major honours, including six Scottish league titles. He was also part of the renowned Celtic side that became the first British club to win the European Cup in 1967, defeating Inter Milan in Lisbon. Clark's funeral Mass took place at St Mary's Church in the Calton area of Glasgow. Following the service, the funeral cortege proceeded down The Celtic Way outside the club's stadium. Multiple stars, including the entire Celtic first-team squad, were in attendance. Keane and Wright both played for Celtic at the latter end of their respective careers, and they paid their respects to Clark. Rangers commented on Clark's passing, posting on social media: "Everyone at Rangers passes on their condolences to the Clark family and all Celtic at this sad time." At the chapel, a number of Portuguese flags were on display. It was a nod to both the scene of Celtic's European Cup triumph as well as honouring the tragic deaths of Liverpool forward Diogo Jota and his brother, Andre Silva, in a car crash on Thursday. Celtic said ahead of the funeral: "John Clark was a Lisbon Lion, a cornerstone of our greatest ever team and a dedicated servant to Celtic. We come together to honour his incredible legacy." Fans online also praised Keane and Wright for attending the funeral. One wrote: "Classy gesture from Roy Keane and Ian Wright to attend the funeral of John Clark today. They were both only at Celtic a short time when John was kitman. Just shows the impression he left on them. There will never be another European cup winner sorting kits out. God speed John." Manager Brendan Rodgers paid a heartfelt tribute to Clark, saying: "Greatness is a word people throw around, but for John Clark it is a very fitting tribute. John was instrumental in delivering our greatest day ever and his achievement is forever etched in Celtic's proud history. "John's continued presence at Celtic across so many decades I know served as an absolute inspiration to so many players, managers and staff, including myself very much. "To have him with us, as part of the club for so long has been a tremendous privilege for us all, it meant so much to us. Through his knowledge, his wisdom and his true love for Celtic, John has made such an important contribution to the club. "I know John was loved so dearly by his family, by everyone at the club and our supporters. We will all miss him so much."
