Nathan Lyon has no plans to retire just yet, identifies his bucket list including against India
Australian off-spinner Nathan Lyon, aged 37, has expressed his desire to continue playing Test cricket, particularly aiming for an away series victory in India before retirement, while also announcing he has handed over his role as team song-master to Alex Carey following Australia's recent win against West Indies.
Lyon, Australia's most successful off-spinner with 556 wickets in 138 Tests, has claimed 130 wickets against India in 32 Tests but is yet to be part of a winning Australian team in India since their 2004-05 triumph.

"I've always said I want to win away in India. I want to win away in England," Lyon shared. "We've got that opportunity in a couple of years' time, but we've also got to take it Test by Test and make sure that we're doing everything here in West Indies right.
Then we've got a massive summer at home with the Ashes. But another World Test Championship final would be on my cards for sure."
"Nathan Lyon is very modest to the public. But within closed doors, there's nothing modest about him!" 😆

Lyon has stepped down from his role as the team's song-master, passing the responsibility to wicketkeeper-batter Alex Carey, who led the celebrations after their 159-run victory over West Indies in the first Test.
The tradition of singing "Underneath the Southern Cross" after every victory was initiated by Rod Marsh and was passed to Lyon by Michael Hussey.

Lyon led the celebrations in 67 wins from 125 matches.
"I've been very honoured to firstly, lead the song, but to have it for 12 years, it's been one of the biggest highlights of my career," Lyon stated. "It definitely doesn't mean I'm retiring anytime soon. It's more about the team environment, making sure that I get the opportunity to pass it on to someone who I look at and absolutely love in the way he goes about it on and off the field and I just feel like Alex is the perfect candidate.

"I ran my race with it, and it's time for someone else to put their touch on it. I've loved having the privilege to lead the team song but now I can sit back and hopefully enjoy a few wins and just relax and take it all in," Lyon added.
Australia are set to face West Indies in the second Test beginning Wednesday at St George's, Grenada.

Ju Haknyeon cleared of misconduct allegations: Police dismiss case due to lack of evidence
Former 'THE BOYZ' member Ju Haknyeon has been officially cleared of misconduct allegations involving former Japanese adult film actress Asuka Kirara. On July 2, the Seoul Gangnam Police Station confirmed that the complaint filed against him in June has been dismissed due to insufficient evidence. The allegations and fallout The controversy began in May 2025, when online rumours alleged that Ju Haknyeon had met with Asuka Kirara at a private lounge in Tokyo. Though no formal charges were filed, the speculation escalated rapidly. His agency, 'One Hundred,' responded by terminating his exclusive contract and announcing his departure from 'THE BOYZ.' Ju Haknyeon's response In the weeks following the reports by Pinkvilla, Ju Haknyeon broke his silence, saying, 'There was no illegal activity during my time in Japan.' He also expressed disagreement with the agency's decision by uttering, 'I had not agreed to leave THE BOYZ.' He further stated his intent to take legal action with 'I will pursue legal action against those who spread unverified and defamatory information.' Police statement: no grounds for investigation A formal complaint was submitted on June 19, requesting an official investigation. However, the police concluded that the complaint was 'largely based on an online article.' They emphasised that it 'lacked the concrete details or corroborating evidence necessary to justify an investigation.' Further, the authorities clarified that 'simply referencing media coverage does not meet the criteria required for a criminal investigation. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Преносим лазерен заваръчен пистолет, 50% отстъпка днес HL Купете сега Undo ' Accuser's reaction The individual who filed the complaint expressed disappointment in the outcome, saying, 'I would like to make it clear that since the authorities have not determined that the accusation is false, it does not meet the legal requirements for a false accusation.' They also argued that 'other high-profile cases in the past had moved forward based on media reports. This case should have been handled with the same level of seriousness. '

"Fixation on all-rounders has never worked": Moody reacts to India's "baffling" selection for second Test
New Delhi [India], July 2 (ANI): Former Australian cricketer Tom Moody didn't mince his words while decoding India's 'baffling' final XI selection for the second Test in Birmingham against England on Wednesday. After surrendering to a five-wicket defeat in Leeds, India is in the race to nullify England's 1-0 advantage by changing their ill-fortune at Edgbaston. While trying to force parity in the five-match series, India made a couple of bold calls by lining up with three all-rounders, dropping Jasprit Bumrah and lining up with five specialist batters. Moody struggled to fathom India's decision to 'gamble' with five specialist batters and the fixation to line up with all-rounders, a strategy that has never worked. India has implemented the three all-rounder combination twice during their tour of Australia in the last two Tests and ended up savouring the bitter taste of defeat in each clash. 'India's selection for this test is baffling. No Bumrah is one thing, but to only have 5 specialist batsmen is a gamble. The fixation on all-rounders who are there to offer depth with bat and ball has never worked. Specialists are always going to offer more over a test,' Moody wrote on X. Among the host of changes for the second Test, India replaced Bumrah with Akash Deep and Shardul Thakur with young Nitish Kumar Reddy. However, the most eye-catching change turned out to be Washington Sundar, a spin-bowling all-rounder coming in for Sai Sudharsan, who made his debut at number three at Headingley. India captain Shubman Gill offered a sneak peek into the blueprint that India will try to follow for the next four days in pursuit of a series-levelling victory. During the toss, Gill explained that Bumrah's absence comes down to their approach to managing his workload. While the inclusion of all-rounders stems from their twin tail-end collapses in the series opener. 'No Bumrah. Just to manage his workload. We did get a good break, and this is an important match for us. But the third Test being at Lord's, we think there'll be more in that pitch, so we'll use him there. We were tempted to play Kuldeep, but looking at the last match, our lower order didn't do well, so we decided to add some depth to the batting,' Gil said during the time of the toss. (ANI)

When lungi-clad Kannada actor wielded shovel to fix craters
Bengaluru: For the past week, a curious sight has been stopping commuters in their tracks near Basavanahalli Circle on Nelamangala-Doddaballapur Road: A man with a shovel, with his lungi folded, toiling alongside a few workers to fill potholes on a five-kilometre stretch. The man is none other than Kannada film actor Vinod Raj. With the civic agency showing no signs of repairing the stretch, Raj took matters into his own hands to spare fellow motorists of the daily bone-rattling ride. He purchased raw-material, hired a tractor to transport the same and supervised the pothole-filling exercise. Several surprised motorists greeted the actor with handshakes and smiles. "I incurred an expense of up to Rs 5 lakh for filling up the potholes and repairing the road. I purchased jelly stones, M-sand, and cement. The daily rent for the tractor carrying them is Rs 1,000. I'm not doing anything great. I'm just following the footsteps of my mother and actor, the late Leelavathi," he said. Some victims were farmers carrying their products to Nelamangala to sell. The recent rain worsened the situation. Even I take this road to reach my farmhouse. Therefore, we decided to repair it," he said. According to Raj, he worked on the five-km stretch for around 10 days. "Soon, the work will be over. After the rainy season, we will fill the potholes using ECOFIX—a ready-to-use pothole repair mix developed by the Central Road Research Institute," he said. Recalling the days when the road was not asphalted, Raj said he would ask his mother why she purchased the farm which had no proper roads. "A few decades back, we drove on the rock-studded road to reach the farmhouse. Thousands of commuters use this road every day, and potholes are posing a threat to them," he said.
