Nine teens remanded in Kemaman for suspected assault on schoolmate
CHUKAI, June 17 — Nine students from a secondary school here, believed to be involved in an assault case against a male student last month, have been remanded for three days, beginning today.
Kemaman District Police chief Supt Mohd Razi Rosli said the remand order was issued by Judge Wan Suhaila Mohd to allow investigations under Section 147 of the Penal Code to be conducted.
He said that the students, aged between 15 and 18, were arrested at about 1.30 pm yesterday after police received a report from the 14-year-old victim.
'The incident reportedly occurred because one of the suspects was unhappy that the victim was still keeping photos of his ex-girlfriend, who is also the suspect's current girlfriend.
'The victim claimed he was assaulted by several students on May 27 and 28, causing him to suffer injuries to his head and back,' he said when contacted. — Bernama

She also said officers from the Social Welfare Department (JKM) would visit the family's home on Monday to record statements and assess the next course of action.

New Zealand woman injured after 6m fall at Kanching Waterfall
KUALA LUMPUR, June 28 — A 52-year-old New Zealand woman was injured after falling from a height of about six metres at Kanching Waterfall in Rawang today. Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant operations director Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said an emergency call was received at 11.52am. 'A team from the Rawang Fire and Rescue Station was dispatched to the scene,' he said in a statement. 'The victim, a New Zealand national, had fallen from the waterfall from a height of approximately six metres.' He said initial checks found that the woman sustained injuries to her left leg, left arm and spine. The victim was conscious and taken to hospital for further treatment.

Body of man believed to be victim of crocodile attack in Matang found
KUCHING, June 28 — The body believed to be that of Jacob Tuan, the victim of a recent crocodile attack, has been found by the search and rescue party this afternoon. Padawan District Police Chief Supt Mohd Irwan Hafiz Md Radzi said the remains were located around 12.30pm following a search operation that began earlier in the day. 'We began the search at 8am, and by 12.30pm, we had located the body through the joint efforts of the various search team,' he said when met by reporters. The remains have been transported to the Sarawak General Hospital for identification and a post-mortem examination. The case has been classified as sudden death. 'The victim was found about 300 metres from the location of the attack.
