CAIRO, May 10: Kuwait marked a milestone in international sports by winning a seat on the Board of Directors of the International Diving Federation (IDF) for the first time. The election took place during the Federation's General Assembly held in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt.
Engineer Talal Al-Sarhan, President of the Kuwait Diving and Rescue Federation, was elected to serve a four-year term on the IIDF Board—an unprecedented achievement that reflects Kuwait's growing presence in the global diving community.
Al-Sarhan emphasized that his election is the result of the Federation's ongoing efforts to promote and develop diving and rescue sports, along with its commitment to positioning Kuwait as a key player in the international marine sports arena.
Expressing his pride in this accomplishment, Al-Sarhan affirmed his dedication to representing Kuwait effectively, while also advocating for the interests of Arab and Asian nations within the Federation. He reiterated his commitment to elevating the status of diving as a vital global marine sport and cultural heritage.

KUWAIT CITY, July 28: The Kuwait Handball Association has officially approved its candidates for positions in the Asian Handball Federation (AHF) ahead of the upcoming elections, set to take place on December 20 in Cairo. During a recent board meeting attended by all members, the federation nominated International Handball Federation Vice President Bader Al-Dheab for the presidency of the AHF and Secretary General Qaed Al-Adwani for the position of AHF Treasurer for the 2025–2029 term. Additional nominations include Treasurer Khaled Taleb for the Organizing and Competitions Committee, board member Mishaal Al-Qabandi for the Coaching Committee, Nasser Al-Da'as for the Development and Public Relations Committee, and Fahad Al-Hajri for the Referees Committee. The board also decided to reject the nomination of former treasurer Faisal Baqer for the AHF treasurer role. Vice President Shabeeb Al-Hajri and Secretary General Qaed Al-Adwani were selected to represent Kuwait at the AHF General Assembly and elections in December.

KUWAIT CITY, July 28: Al-Arabi's coach, Marco Alves, has the team training in humid environments to prepare for its AFC Challenge League playoff against Maziya Sports of the Maldives on August 12, which will be played on the Maldives' home turf. To help players adapt to the high humidity common in the Maldives, Alves also arranged additional indoor, air-conditioned training sessions during its Abu Dhabi camp. The team will face UAE clubs Hatta and Baniyas in friendlies on Thursday, August 6, respectively, with the camp concluding on August 8. Fahaheel has planned a training camp in Alexandria, Egypt, scheduled to start in mid-August. Led by Syrian coach Firas Al-Khatib, the team continues preparations and will play a friendly against Kuwait's Olympic team on August 7. Another friendly match is being arranged before it heads abroad. Most players have joined training, with foreign signings Homam Mahmoud (Syria) and Zakaria Benchaâ (Algeria) already on board, and Brazilians Brendon Lucas, Bruno Clisettau, and Vitor da Silva expected to join soon. Kazma will play its first friendly this Thursday against Kuwait's Olympic team before traveling to Turkey for a training camp in early August. Key players, including Jordanians Ali Azaizeh, Yousef Abu Al-Jazar, and Anas Al-Awdat, are training, with Algerian Idris Chaabi joining next week and Beninese forward Samson Akinyoola arriving in Turkey. Kuwait Club held morning and evening training sessions under Montenegrin coach Nebojša Jovović as it gets ready for the Zain Premier League season opener on September 12. The team will continue this routine for two weeks before heading to Prague, Czech Republic, for a 20-day training camp featuring four friendly matches. Al-Nasr has started training at Ali Sabah Al-Salem Stadium's sub-pitch with new signings Mohsen Falah, Mohammed Al-Rashed, and Zaid Zakaria. The club also officially welcomed goalkeeper Naif Al-Azmi to the squad for the new season.

KUWAIT CITY, July 28: The Arab Gulf Cup Football Federation has officially approved the list of clubs set to compete in the second edition of the Gulf Champions League for the 2025-2026 season. Eight teams have been nominated by their respective national federations to take part in the tournament. This year's competition will feature: Al-Qadsia (Kuwait), Al-Shabab (Saudi Arabia), Al-Ain (UAE), Sitra (Bahrain), Zakho (Iraq), Al-Nahda (Oman), Al-Rayyan (Qatar), and Tadamun Hadramout (Yemen). Iraq's Duhok Club claimed the title in the tournament's inaugural edition last season after defeating Al-Qadsia 2-1 in the final. The second edition is set to begin in October, with the official draw scheduled for August. The teams will be split into two groups, with the top two from each group advancing to the semifinals.
