Hooker Jamie George to join Lions after Luke Cowan-Dickie suffers a concussion
Cowan-Dickie was knocked out after attempting a tackle in the first half of the Lions' 48-0 win over an Australia and New Zealand Invitational side in Adelaide on Saturday.
Lions coach Andy Farrell said after the match that Cowan-Dickie was feeling 'good' but suffered a concussion, a week out from the first test against the Wallabies.
England announced hours later that George was being drafted into the Lions squad, so would miss Saturday's test match against Argentina in San Juan. He was set to start and will instead watch the match before departing for Brisbane on Sunday, England said.
Theo Dan came into the England team as George's replacement.
'We're absolutely delighted for Jamie's selection,' England coach Steve Borthwick said.
Aside from the three tests against the Wallabies on consecutive Saturdays, the Lions have just one remaining midweek assignment — against a First Nations and Pasifika XV in Melbourne on July 22. That could be George's only game on this tour, though he did go on the 2017 and 2021 tours.

NEW YORK (AP) — New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone was unsure of the severity of Max Fried's blister on his left index finger, a day after the All-Star left-hander left his start after three innings. 'It's just that (a blister),' Boone said before the Yankees faced the Cubs on Sunday. 'So he'll be kind of leaning into all the modalities and all of the tricks that you try and do to deal with blisters. Then we'll see how it lines up for what we want to line them up coming out of the break, based on just how that's recovered.' 'Definitely didn't want to do too much where I wanted to catch it, hopefully before it became a real big, big deal. It definitely was uncomfortable enough to the point where I didn't want to risk more and it was going to affect my pitches. So, yeah, just the next couple of days are going to be big in just being able to evaluate on how long I need.' He made four trips to the injured list because of blisters on that finger during his time with the Atlanta Braves. He went 23 days between starts in 2018, 12 days each in 2019 and 2021 and 18 in 2023, including a gap between the regular season and playoffs. Fried is 11-3 with a 2.43 ERA and become the Yankees ace after Gerrit Cole needed Tommy John surgery. He was 9-2 with a 1.89 ERA in 15 starts through June 15, but has a 4.33 ERA in his past four outings. Fried was selected to the AL All-Star team before getting replaced on the roster by Carlos Rodón, who pitched eight innings in Friday's 11-0 win. Fried will attend the festivities in Atlanta and the Yankees may start him in a three-game series at AL East-leading Toronto on July 21-23 after opening the second half by visiting the Braves. ___

Bangladesh keeps series alive with 83-run win against Sri Lanka in 2nd T20
DAMBULLA, Sri Lanka (AP) — Sri Lanka was skittled for 94 in 15.2 overs as Bangladesh won the second Twenty20 by 83 runs to level the three-match series at 1-1 on Sunday. It was Bangladesh's second biggest T20 victory by runs. Bangladesh captain Litton Das scored a 50-ball 76, his first T20 half century after 13 games. He helped to lead Bangladesh to 177-7 in 20 overs after Sri Lanka won the toss and chose to bowl. In-form batter Kusal Mendis was run out in the second over of Sri Lanka's reply and the hosts slipped to 30-4 inside the powerplay against fast bowler Shoriful Islam (2-12), one of the three changes Bangladesh made after losing the opening game. Opening batter Pathum Nissanka (32) and Dasun Shanaka (20) were the only batters to cross the double-figure mark before Sri Lanka was bowled out with more than four overs to spare. All five Bangladesh bowlers were among the wickets. Legspinner Rishad Hossain (3-18) finished off the match by having No. 10 batter Binura Fernando stumped. Nissanka was also stumped by Das off Hossain which ended the 41-ball partnership for the fifth wicket, and in the same 11th over Hossain caught and bowled Chamika Karunaratne (0) to leave Sri Lanka on 71-6. Shanaka holed out at deep mid-wicket in the 12th over against off-spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz before Bangladesh wrapped up the tailenders quickly. Saints won't be hiring ESPN analyst Dan Orlovsky to their coaching staff after all
Orlovsky, former Lions QB and Kellen Moore teammate, will stay at ESPN on new contract Dan Orlovsky fueled speculation early this offseason that he might be joining his old teammate Kellen Moore on the New Orleans Saints coaching staff, but that never did come to pass. Instead, with the Saints bringing in training camp interns and last-minute pickups as assistant coaches (like Tulane Green Wave running backs coach Brock Hays), Orlovsky signed a new contract with ESPN to remain a high-profile personality with the flagship network. Orlovsky, 41, spent a dozen years in the NFL as a backup for five different teams (and two stops on the Detroit Lions, where he overlapped with Moore). He's now set to begin Year 6 of hosting NFL Live and his fourth season of appearances on Monday Night Football while making guests spots on morning shows and keystone broadcasts like Get Up, SportsCenter, First Take and The Pat McAfee Show, among other programs. The former pro quarterback has become a popular draw over at ESPN. Would he have made sense for the Saints? Maybe. But the team has plenty of former quarterbacks on their coaching staff already. Beyond Moore himself, they loaded up with veterans like offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier (who has thrown a touchdown pass or two at the Superdome) and Scott Tolzien, who worked under Moore on the Dallas Cowboys after his own seven-year pro career.
