Man arrested after €100,000 worth of jewellery stolen from Dublin shop

The Clarendon Street shop was damaged during the burglary.
Gardaí
responded to the burglary at about 2.45am, and a description of the suspect was obtained through CCTV footage.
Gardaí on high-visibility patrol near St Stephen's Green later arrested the man, who is currently detained at a Garda station in Dublin.

Gardaí recovered the stolen jewellery after searching a site close to the man's arrest.
Investigations are ongoing, a Garda spokesperson said.
Paul Cleary, Assistant Commissioner of the Dublin Metropolitan Region, said public safety is 'paramount' and 'so too is helping to protect city centre businesses and their staff from theft and antisocial crime'.
The 'swift and co-ordinated response' from gardaí overnight demonstrates the force is 'serious about tackling crime in Dublin' and is 'yielding some positive outcomes'.
'Our hard work to keep people safe only continues, and we hope that people feel reassured by this,' he said.

Body found in Co Cork as gardaí appeal for information
Gardaí have appealed for witnesses after a body was discovered at Ballymaquirk, Mallow, Co Cork on Saturday evening. The witness appeal is seeking information in relation to a male walking on the road between Banteer and Kanturk, Co Cork, on the evening of Friday, June 13th between the hours of 3.30pm and 9.00pm. Road users who were travelling in the vicinity at the time who may have camera footage including dash cam are asked to make this available as investigations are ongoing. Man (50s) arrested by gardai investigating murder of Josephine Ray in Tipperary last year
A man has been arrested by gardai investigating the murder of Josephine Ray in Tipperary last year. The man, in his 50s, is being held in relation to the death of the great grandmother (89) whose body was discovered at her home at St Joseph's Park, Nenagh, on the afternoon of Sunday, August 4. Gardaí had been called to the property where Ms Ray lived on a number of occasions over the last number of months to deal with what sources said were 'a number of different alleged complaints'. She was discovered with severe bruising to her face and blood was found close to her body. It is understood that a pillow that was seized as part of the probe would be subject to a full forensic examination. Tributes later appeared online to the victim who was described as 'a vulnerable lady' including by her grandson, Daniel Ray O'Brien who discovered her body on Sunday afternoon after neighbours raised the alarm. "My poor poor poor granny, I loved you so much. God please let there be justice. The system failed her too many times please don't let it happen during her death too,' he posted on Facebook. A man and woman in their 50s who had been quizzed by gardai at the time were later released without charge with a file to be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions. A Garda spokesperson said this morning: 'Gardaí in Nenagh continue to investigate all the circumstances surrounding the death of a woman, whose body was discovered at a residence at St Joseph's Park, Nenagh, County Tipperary, on the afternoon of Sunday, August 4, 2024. 'A male in his 50s was arrested today, Thursday 3rd July 2025 in relation to this investigation. 'He is currently being detained under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.' Gardai added that investigations are 'ongoing'
